No one was nominated for the John McKeone or Jan Calame awards this year. President, Jenni Toebben called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM Election of Officers: President: Elly Rensink nominated by Debby Stokley 1 st Vice President: Sue Volkmer nominated by Elly Rensink 2 nd Vice President: Jan Hauge nominated by Elly Rensink Secretary: Barbara Hill nominated by Sandy Orr Treasurer: Debby Stokley nominated by Pam Swisher There were no other nominations. The slate was elected unanimously. Secretary Barbara Hill had e-mailed the January minutes to the Board. The February was cancelled due to weather. A motion was made by Sandy Orr and seconded by Debby Stokley to approve the minutes. The motion was unanimously approved. An e-mail had been received advising of some proposed changes as follows: 1. Propose to add an amendment adding 2 more placings to Regular Group classes fifth and sixth in Group. Fifth and sixth placements may only be awarded if there are 12 or more breeds/varieties in the group ring that day. 2. Propose to add an amendment creating Reserve Best in Show Placement. A club giving group classes must also give a Best in Show, the winner to be entitled Best Dog in Show and a Reserve Best in Show No entry fee shall be charged but the seven group winners must complete. Both amendments will be read at the March 2011 Delegate meeting for a vote in June 2011. In addition, a freeze has been placed on the licensing of any additional all breed or group clubs other than the 33 clubs currently at the B or A match level. The secretary has also received an e-mail inquiry about NKC from Jenny Spies who is moving to the Omaha area with dachshunds and is interest in the club as well as any earth dog events. The secretary referred her to the club Web Page and invited her to attend a general membership meeting. Treasurer Debby Stokley had e-mailed the January 2011 Treasurer s report and it has been filed of record with the secretary. Debby advised the board that she will mail dues notices this up coming weekend and will advise Sharon Bourke of all renewals by May 18 to enable Sharon to up date the roster and forward to the Board. 1 st Vice President reminded everyone that the next General Membership Meeting will be in April and she is working on a program. 2 nd Vice President, Elly advises that she has 2 applications for membership. Barbara Hill is to forward to the Board the most recent roster that had been updated by Elly and formatted by Sharon. Dawn Hall has volunteered to be Chief Ring Steward. Chuck Casanova has agreed to be the RV Coordinator. 3

Pam Swisher, Show Chair for 2011 reported that Paula Steenson has advise that she has received approximately $11,000 in vendor fees. Paula also advised that Natural Balance has agreed to be a prize sponsor and she is still working with Royal Canin and Sargents. Paula is also getting bids for the RV generator expense. The vendor booth fee has been increased by $50 to cover the cost of electricity. Our show this year will fall on the same weekend as Duluth, MN and San Antonia, TX. At the request of Agility, Pam will amend our show application to include a new class called Time 2 Beat. We are working on recruiting some retired agility dogs to help with the hands on agility demos at the demo area. Sandy Orr advised that the educational seminars will be composed of 3 non sporting breeds and 3 toy breeds. Committees: Education No report Legislation Sandy Orr continues to forward legislative up dates as they become available. LB # 427 is still in committee. Training Classes Elly advises that participation has increased Website it is up and running Future planning The survey is to be mailed this weekend and also to be included in the next Growler. A completion date will be added and the accompanying letter will reflect the name of the new president. Tracking: Shelly is working on 2011 Herding: Elly is to contact Anne Witte and request Anne to submit a written proposal estimating the cost of doing a Herding Trial at Anne s residence. Old business: NKC did not participate in the Omaha Home show in 2011 due primarily of manpower requirements. New business: Motion was made by Jenni and seconded by Debby to allow members only, at no charge, to advertise in the Growler the sale of used dog equipment. The motion was unanimously approved Debby Stokley suggested that NKC at the invitation of Council Bluffs Kennel Club participate in Council Bluffs Pride Parade to be held May 21. For additional information contact Elly Rensink at PH: 402 455 6496. Cheryl asked the Board to consider doing an additional agility trial in 2012. No decision was made. He had an amazing journey earning his Utility Degree in one weekend and then his Obedience Championship the following weekend. He also earned several High in Trials and High Combined awards along the way. Congratulations Gary and Bubba!! Kathy Rasinowich-Platt and her Golden Retriever, NOC OTCH High Ris s Above the Tide UDX10, OGM, RE, CGC (aka Buoy), won the AKC National Obedience Invitational in Long beach, CA, December 5, 2010. This was Buoy s second invitation to this prestigious competition. He was first runner up in 2009. This was Kathy s 9 th invitation to the AKC National Obedience Invitational. Her Golden Retriever, NOC OTCH First String s Cubby Bear UDX26, RE, AX, NAJ, CGC (aka Wrigley), won the National Obedience Championship in Tampa Bay, FL in 2005. Her Golden Retriever, OTCH First Strings Liv n on the Edge (aka Shale), was 2 nd runner up in 2006. Buoy earned an award of merit on being one of the first 20 dogs to earn an Obedience Grand Master, a new title offered by the AKC. Buoy place #2 in the country for All Breed Kathy Buoy OTCH pointed dogs shown in obedience in 2009 and 2010.
