March, July 2018 21 weeks, full-time (includes a one week break) July 2017. March, July 2018 17 weeks, full-time Taking care of animals is a challenging and rewarding career option. You will have the opportunity to put theory into practice with shared responsibility for the care of animals and work experience within the industry. Or successful completion of Wellington Trades Academy HV4514 Certificate in Foundation Studies (Level 2) (Introductory Animal Care), or similar Wellington Trades Academy programme. Or relevant personal, practical, professional and/or educational experience, including literacy and numeracy competence equivalent to that specified above. If English is your second language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 5 with no band score lower than 5.0 is required, or equivalent. All students are required to complete a Criminal Conviction Declaration Form. Students who have a criminal conviction/s may be asked to present a copy of their criminal record. Programme overview > > Assist with surgical and clinical nursing > Learn diagnostic skills, including radiography of animals and collecting and testing diagnostic samples > Recognise normal and abnormal conditions and behaviour of animals > Develop industry reception services, sales skills and professional behaviour Entry criteria 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 with at least 12 credits in Level 1 Maths, and 12 credits of a relevant science at Level 1.
