Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide detailed instructions on how to use this site. Starting with an overview of the Main Menu, the guide continues with step-by-step instructions on how to use the page displayed by each Menu selection. Search The Search button displays a page where you can enter specific criteria that you desire in your choice of a stud dog. You may choose any number of select criteria or none. After you select the search criteria, click the Search button under Submit Search at the bottom right side of the page. The search criteria are compared to the evaluation criteria that were entered when the dog was submitted to the database. Dogs with evaluation criteria meeting the search criteria are returned in the result set. Selecting no criteria will return a result set of every dog in the database. There are 10 dogs shown on each page of the result set. If there are more than 10 dogs in the result set from your search, you will see links at the bottom of the page to advance forward and backward through the result set. 2

General Select Criteria include: Color Black, Blue, Brindle, Fawn, Harlequin, Mantle, Other Select none if you do not want to specify a particular color Select any combination of colors you want to use as search criteria Temperament Selecting Temperament sets the search criteria to include dogs with temperament as "excellent." Longevity Selecting Longevity sets the search criteria to include dogs that lived past 9 years of age. Head Select Criteria include: Overall Excellent Selecting Overall Excellent sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Overall category. Almond Shaped Eye Selecting Almond Shaped Eye sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Eye Shape category. Dark Eye Selecting Dark Eye sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "dark" in the Eye Color category. Tight Eyes Selecting Tight Eye sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Eye Tightness category. Scissors Bite Selecting Scissors Bite sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "scissors" in the Bite category. 3

Full Dentition Selecting Full Dentition sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "full" in the Dentition category. Proper Ear Set/Size Selecting Proper Ear Set/Size sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Ear category. Square Lip Selecting Square Lip sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Lip category. Front Select Criteria Include: Shoulder Angulation Selecting Shoulder Angulation sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Shoulders category. Breadth of Chest Selecting Breadth of Chest sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Breadth of Chest category. Correct Upper Arm Selecting Correct Upper Arm sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Upper Arm category. Tight Feet Selecting Tight Feet sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Feet category. Torso Select Criteria Include: Neck Length Selecting Neck Length sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Neck Length category. 4

Withers Selecting Withers sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Withers category. Full Body Selecting Full Body sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Body category. Brisket Depth Selecting Brisket Depth sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Brisket category. Level Topline Selecting Level Topline sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Topline category. Rear Select Criteria Include: Croup Selecting Croup sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Croup category. Angulation Hocks Selecting Angulation sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Angulation category. Selecting Hocks sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Hocks category. Tail Set Selecting Tail Set sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Tail Set category. 5

Tail Length Feet Selecting Tail Length sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Tail Length category. Selecting Feet sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as "excellent" in the Feet category. Semen Availability Criteria Include: Live Cover Fresh Fresh Chilled Frozen You may select none or any combination of criteria in this section. Selecting one or more of these sets the search criteria to include dogs evaluated as having the semen availability specified. 6

Submit To submit a dog to Dane Quest, complete the form display on the Submit page. The form asks for identifying information on the Submitter, the dog being submitted, the dog's owner(s) and breeder(s). It then continues with the completion of the evaluation criteria for the dog. If any of the information you enter changes at a future time, we will be happy to make updates to the listing for you. Send us an email letting us know which dog to update and what information needs to be changed. Typical changes are done when dogs change owners, owners or breeders change their names, phone numbers, email addresses or Web sites. Field names preceded by * are required. Submitter Information *First Name: Enter the first name of the person submitting the dog to Dane Quest. *Last Name: Enter the last name of the person submitting the dog to Dane Quest. *Email Address: Enter the email address of the person submitting the dog to Dane Quest Dog Information *Registered Name: Enter the registered name of the dog as you wish it to be displayed on the results page of a search. Include any titles or awards. There are 100 characters available. *Registration Number: Enter the Registration Number of the dog *Registry: Use the Drop Down to select the Registry the dog is registered under. Date of Birth: Enter the date of birth of the dog in YY-MM-DD format. Date of Death: Enter the date of death of the dog if applicable. Note: we can update this for you if the dog should pass at some point in the future. Longevity: Select this checkbox if the dog has lived past 9 years of age. Note: we can update this for you when the dog reaches 9. 7

Owner Information *First Name: Enter the first name of the owner of the dog. *Last Name: Enter the last name of the owner of the dog. Note: If there is more than one owner, you can use a combination of the first and last name fields to identify all the owners. Each name field has a maximum length of 50 characters. *Phone: Enter the phone number for the owner of the dog. (only one phone number allowed) Email Address: Enter the Email address for the owner of the dog. (only one email address allowed) Web Page URL: Enter the url for the owner's Web page. Breeder Information *First Name: Enter the first name of the breeder of the dog. *Last Name: Enter the last name of the breeder of the dog. Note: If there is more than one breeder, you can use a combination of the first and last name fields to identify all the breeders. Each name field has a maximum length of 50 characters. *Phone: Enter the phone number for the breeder of the dog. (only one phone number allowed) Email Address: Enter the Email address for the breeder of the dog. (only one email address allowed) Web Page URL: Enter the url for the breeder's Web page. 8

Dog Attributes The attributes area of the form is separated into categories; Color, Temperament, Head, Front, Torso, Rear and Semen Availability. Within each category, there are several sections that list the various aspects of evaluation in that category. Evaluate your dog according to the breed standard for your parent club organization in each of these areas. It is important that you be objective in your evaluation. Color: Select the radio button for the color that best describes your dog. Temperament: Select the radio button appropriate for your dog's temperament. Head Overall: Select the radio button that appropriately describes your dog's overall head type. Eye Shape: Select the radio button that appropriately evaluates the eye shape of your dog. Eye Color: Select the radio button that best describes the color of your dog's eyes. Bite: Select the radio button that appropriately describes your dog's bite. Eye Tightness: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's eyes. Ear Set/Size: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dogs ear set and ear length. Lip: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's lip. Front Shoulders: Select the radio button that best describes your dogs shoulders. Breadth of Chest: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's breadth of chest Upper Arm: Select the radio button that best describes the length of your dog's upper arm. Feet: Select the radio button that best describes your dogs front feet. Torso Neck Length: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's neck length. Neck Set: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's neck set. 9

Withers: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's withers. Brisket: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's depth of chest. Body: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's body. Topline: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's topline. Rear Croup: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's croup. Angulation: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's rear angulation. Feet: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's rear feet. Tail Set: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's tail set. Tail Length: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's tail length. Hocks: Select the radio button that best evaluates your dog's hocks. Semen Availability Select the checkbox for each method that matches the dog's breeding availability. Upload Photo Use the Browse button to navigate to a photo of the dog being submitted. Note: Dane Quest reserves the right to crop photo to size so that it best shows the dog on the page. Submit Click on the Submit button when you are ready to submit your dog. 10

Registries: This page provides the name and contact information for the American Kennel Club, Canadian Kennel Club and every FCI registry worldwide. CERF: This link will take you to the Canine Eye Registration Foundation Website. Use this link to search for information related to eye certifications. Quintessa Pedigree Database: This link will take you to Great Dane Pedigrees provided by Quintessa. Use this link to research pedigree information. Danes World Great Dane Database: This link will take you to Danes World Website. Use this link to view pictures, identification information and other statistics on dog. This site offers information in multiple languages. Swedish Breeding Database: This link will take you to the Svenska KennelKlub database. Use this link to research dogs with Swedish registration. Finish Breeding Database: This link will take you to the Suomen Kennelliitto Website. Use this link to research dogs with Finish Registration. This site offers information in Swedish and English. AKC Dog Lookup: This link will take you to the AKC reports area where you can search for dogs by their registration number or by selecting the breed and entering the name of the dog. Searching by registration number returns the breed and registered name of the dog. Searching by selecting the breed and entering the name of the dog will return the same information, but you can enter the characters in the first part of the name to get information on multiple dogs whose registered names start with the characters you entered. Glossary of Titles and Pedigree Terms: This page will display a glossary of terms that you might find on pedigrees or contained in the name of the dog(s) returned in your search. 11

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What if I want to change the picture of my dog? Send us an email with the name of the dog and the picture you want to use. We will be happy to change the picture for you. What if my dog is no longer available for stud service? Send us an email requesting that the dog be deleted from the database. What if I want to change the owner information for my dog? Send us an email with the new owner information and what dog you want us to update. We will be happy to update the record for you. What if I want to change any of the attributes for my dog? Send us an email identifying the dog you want to update and the information that you want to change. What if my dog dies? If you have frozen semen on the dog and want to keep him in the database, send us an email with the dog's Date of Death and let us know you want to have the semen availability updated. What if my dog reaches age 9? Send us an email letting us know and we will update his Longevity value. What if my dog changes ownership? Send us an email letting us know what dog you want to update, who the new owner(s) are and what order you want them to be listed in. We will update the listing for you. 13
