All About the Dogs Weekend What? A 3 day, 2 night dog camp When? Near the end of June, before the fairs start in July Where? New Boston fair grounds Who? Danielle is the weekend director. Rolling Bones members volunteer for certain tasks. 4-Hers from all over New England come with their dogs Why? Training Meetings What? Training meetings are where members work on obedience and showmanship with their dogs When? 2 nd and 4 th Wednesdays of the month January October Where? Concord NH Who? All the 4-H members. Why? To improve and learn new skills More info - See the presentation on meetings 4

Fairs What? 4-H dog shows held at NH fairs, including: Fun Match, Stratham, North Haverhill, Belknap, Hopkinton & Hillsborough When? July September Where? Around NH Who? Eastern States Exposition The Big-E What? A huge fair for all the New England states; it is pretty much the 4-H Olympics. The dog show is 2 nights, 3 days. When? Last weekend in September/First weekend in October Where? Springfield MA. Who? 4-Hers 12+ from all around New England Why? To meet 4-Hers from other states, bond with members from your state, compete against stiff competition for big trophies, and try out different venues like agility and quiz bowl. Christmas Parade What? The annual Concord Christmas Parade, the club decorates a float and walks in the parade with their dogs. When? Usually the weekend before thanksgiving Where? Concord NH Who? The whole club, including parents Why? Great exposure for the club and a great way to get into the holiday spirit More info the club website s calendar will be updated 7

Thanksgiving AKC show What? Your chance to compete in a real AKC dog show. The show offers a special class just for 4-Hers. After competing 4-Hers can also participate in a handling seminar. When? Around Thanksgiving, usually the day after Black Friday. Where? Springfield MA Who? 4-Hers from all around New England Why? Get to see a real dog show in action, from best in show to agility this show has it all. Plus excellent Christmas shopping More info Someone in the club will update the website's calendar with information for entries and specific dates. 8

Christmas party What? The clubs annual Christmas Party When? Usually the first Saturday in December Where? Henniker NH at a leader s house Who? 4-Hers, current and alumni, parents and volunteers Why? Celebrate the holidays with old and new 4-H friends, and participate in Yankee Swap More info check the club website's calendar 9

County Activities Days What? A day when all different clubs present parts of their project areas, or really anything that interests them. Rolling Bones members are required to participate in one or more of the offered events: public speaking, demonstrations, food show, poster, photo, etc. When? February for Merrimack county, State for qualifiers is in June. Where? Merrimack High School for county and UNH for state Who? All 4-H members Why? Business meetings What? Meetings where the club discusses club business and makes choices about the club s future. When? About twice a year Where? Usually at a leader s house or available space Who? All 4-H members and parents are welcome if they have suggestions Why? These meetings are very important to the club s future. The members decide about what the club will participate in and focus on in the upcoming months. More info Meetings presentation and the club website will have information about where and when the meetings will be. 11

Honors Evening, Round up & Awards Night What? There are 3 year end awards nights that Rolling Bones 4-Hers participate in. County recognition night and Round Up are hosted by Merrimack county. And the club awards night is hosted by Rolling Bones for Rolling Bones When? Near the end of the year, usually around the end of November Where? Merrimack county high schools and churches have hosted the club in the past. Who? County recognition night is invite only, Round Up is for younger 4-Hers, and the club awards night is open to all the club members Why? To recognize everybody s hard work and wrap up a great show season! More info emails, club website, and the invitations 12
