NB Fall Show September 29-30th, 2012 Petitcodiac, NB Proudly hosting the District Meet, of the American Poultry Association Dear Fellow Fanciers, The Greater Moncton Fur & Feather Club will once again be holding its annual NB Fall Show, at the Exhibition Grounds in Petitcodiac, NB. With the great judges that we've hired, the collection of awards that will be offered, and our Wings & Whiskers Fall Sale, we can promise you that one of Canada's very best shows this year will be in Petitcodiac! New this year will be classes for rabbits & eggs, which will add an interesting new twist to our event. Although mentioned again elsewhere in this booklet, we would like to once again thank all of our dedicated supporters for all of their hard work & financial donations, as without them, this event would cease to exist. Show Rules & Regulations - Classes will be open to all varieties of Large & Bantam Chickens, Turkeys, Guineafowl, Ducks, Geese, & Pigeons as well as to Ornamentals, Eggs & Rabbits. "Ornamentals" are defined as Wild Waterfowl, Wild Turkeys, Pheasants, Doves, Quail, Partridge, Cagebirds (ie- Finches, Lovebirds, etc..) & all similar species. **Exhibitors of Pheasants & Cagebirds must supply their own show-cages**. - Entry fee is $2.00 per exhibit. Entries MUST be received no later than September 9th. (**It is VERY possible that entries may not be accepted after this date**). Should you want "double coops" for large chickens or ducks, please enter two of that one variety/sex, & the show chair will modify cages when you coop-in. It is possible that Geese & Runners will be double-cooped, as required. **The 1 st five entries from any Junior Exhibitor, who is an active NB 4-H Member, will be free of charge ** Make cheques payable to the Greater Moncton Fur & Feather Club. Send all entries, with full payment, to- Gurney Beal, 5399 Rte 895, Colpitts Settlement NB, E4J 2Z9. For consultation (phone-in entries are strongly discouraged & may not be accepted), call Gurney at 372-5748. - Coop-In will be on Friday evening (28th) from 4:00-9:00PM, & from 7:00-9:00 AM on the 29th. Judging will begin at 9:00AM sharp on Saturday. Coop-out will be at 10:00AM, on Sunday the 30th. All entries must remain in their show coops until this time. -All Show entries in Chickens, Turkeys, Guineafowl & "Land" Ornamentals (ie- Pheasants, etc) exhibited by fanciers from NB, NS & PEI must be vaccinated for ILT, & have official Gov'n wing bands. Exhibitors with entries in these classes, who are not from these provinces are to contact the Show Committee for more details. - Any entries showing signs of illness, will be removed by the Show Committee. Entries are to be handled by their owner, a member of the Show Committee, judge, or clerk only. Taking eggs from other exhibitors' pens is considered stealing, & will not be tolerated. Eggs are to be removed by the bird's owner, or Show Committee member only. -There will be classes for eggs in the following- Large White, Large Brown & Any Other Variety (ie- Bantam, Araucana, Duck, Quail, etc). An egg entry will consist of 4 eggs of the same type, presented in a suitable container (carton, basket, etc). Eggs will be judged on uniformity, color, shape & shell quality.
- Rabbit Show: All colors within each breed will be judged together. Age classes will be young & old, for all breeds (young are less than 6 months old). Rabbits will be placed 1-5 th within each breed/age/sex class (as well as BB/RB & Overall Champions), though full evaluation cards will not be used. Cages will be supplied/set-up for Rabbit entries, & they must be used. As in the Poultry Show, the Judge will judge each rabbit at its cage (ie- they will not be called-up to be judged in one central location, so the exhibitor s involvement is not required at judging time). - "Young" Chickens, Turkeys, Guineafowl, Waterfowl & Ornamentals will be those under one year of age. "Young" pigeons must be close banded for 2012, or to be entered as "old". - Chicken exhibitors are reminded to clearly mark their entries as either "Large or Bantam", or they will be recorded as Largefowl, with changes not possible on show-day. - "Junior Exhibitors" (18 yrs of age & under) are reminded to clearly mark their entry forms as such. - All Pigeons & Runner Ducks must be banded for easy identification. Runners may be ring-judged, with each exhibitor being responsible to transport their own birds to & from the ring. The time & location of this event will be clearly marked on your exhibitors list. - Pigeon exhibitors are reminded to state the color of each entry, as they may be judged separately (depending on the numbers in each class). - Scratch grain & Rabbit Pellets will be provided, though water cups will not be. Again this year, we will gladly accept any items that you'd like to donate to our Silent Auction. Although donated animals are very welcome, any other items (ie- plants, pictures, & any other "garage-sale" type items!) will be greatly appreciated. 100% of the proceeds from this fund-raiser will be used to help finance this event. Bids close at 2pm, on Saturday. Please contact Tiffany Bateman, Amanda Steeves or Danielle Carson at the show, to make a donation. Awards Banquet Our annual Awards Banquet will be held at 7:00PM on Saturday evening, at the Mountain Top Motel. Tickets will be $18.00ea for adults & $10.00ea for children (12yrs old & under). The meal this year will be a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Pork or Turkey, and will include a desert. Please indicate the number of tickets required, on your entry form (as well as which option you d like), & include full payment along with your entry fees. Banquet tickets will not be available on the weekend of the Show. See you there!!!
