QUICK START GUIDE

LET S GET STARTED! Your Litter-Robot ships fully assembled. Follow these steps to get started and refer to the Instruction Manual for more information. Get to know the main components of your Litter-Robot. NIGHT LIGHT INTERNAL SHIELD CAT ENTRY/EXIT BONNET GLOBE BASE POWER BUTTON CONTROL PANEL INDICATOR LIGHTS STEP MAT WASTE DRAWER CARBON FILTER

5 lbs Have a new kitten? Cats must weigh 5 lbs or more to safely use the Litter-Robot unattended. Watch the video. Watch the Getting Started video at www.litter-robot.com/gettingstarted BONNET GLOBE KEY HANDLE POWER INPUT CAT SENSOR

1 GETTING READY 1.1 WHAT S IN THE BOX Welcome Kit (1) Fully assembled Litter-Robot III Open Air (1) Carbon Filter (3) Waste Drawer Liners 15 Volt DC Power Supply Instruction Manual Quick Reference Guide Quick Start Guide Return & Repack Instructions 1.2 PRE-CHECK Remove the cardboard spacer between the Bonnet & Globe and between the Waste Drawer & Base. Ensure the Shield is in the track and positioned in the upper corner. (Key must be in the pocket as shown below.) SHIELD Remove the tape from around the entryway. Confirm that the side and rear Bonnet tabs on both sides of the unit are secured in their corresponding slots. Confirm that the Key on the rear of the unit is located in the pocket.

2 SETTING UP YOUR LITTER-ROBOT 2.1 2.2 ENSURE PROPER PLACEMENT If possible, place the Litter-Robot in the same location as the old litter box (at least during transition). Make sure the unit is on a firm, level surface. Avoid soft, uneven, or unstable flooring. Keep the unit indoors in a cool, dry location. Reduce exposure to high temperature and humidity. Place the unit near a power outlet. Ensure the unit isn t pushed against a wall or into a corner (must not be touching any walls). Place litter mats or rugs in front of, or completely under, the unit. Do not place mats partially under the unit. Use only low pile (¼ inch) rugs and mats. ADD LITTER When filling the Litter-Robot for the first time, it is best to continue using the brand of litter you were using previously as long as it is a clumping type of litter. If you are currently using a non-clumping litter, you will need to switch to a clumping type. Please note, your cat will need to adjust to the new litter box, and introducing a new litter at the same time may increase their anxiety. Fill the Globe through the opening with clumping litter until it meets the raised Fill Line when spread flat (about 8-10 pounds by weight or 1 ½ gallons by volume). Be careful not to overfill the Globe. FILL LINE The Litter-Robot litter sifting system requires clumping litter to work properly. We recommend a high quality clay clumping litter. Litter beads and crystals that are small enough to pass through the screen will also work (periodic changing of this type of litter is required). DO NOT use litters that are strictly absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets. If you are not sure if your current brand of litter is right for the Litter-Robot, contact us at support@litter-robot.com.

3 POWER AND INITIAL CLEAN CYCLE 3.1 PLUG IT IN Plug the small end of the Power Supply into the socket on the back of the Base. Then plug the AC/DC adapter into a wall outlet. 3.2 INITIAL CLEAN CYCLE Locate and press the Power button. The Litter-Robot will perform an initial Clean Cycle that will last about 2 ½ minutes. 3.3 HOW THE CLEAN CYCLE WORKS 1 2 3 4 5 When your cat exits, a timer counts down, allowing litter to clump before a Clean Cycle begins: 1) As the Globe slowly rotates, 2) the patented sifting process separates the clumps from the clean litter, 3) depositing them into a carbon-filtered drawer below. 4) The Globe returns to the Home position, leaving a clean bed of litter for the next use. 5) Empty the Waste Drawer when indicated and add litter as needed. 3.4 READY FOR USE Your Litter-Robot is now ready to use; however, we recommend powering the unit off until your cat becomes familiar with the Litter-Robot and begins using it regularly. See the next page for tips on how to introduce your cat to the Litter-Robot. Did you purchase the WiFi-enabled Litter-Robot Open Air with Connect? If so, please follow the onboarding instructions included in the Welcome Kit. Want to make your Litter-Robot compatible with the app? Install the Connect Upgrade Kit, available at www.litter-robot.com/upgrade.

4 INTRODUCING YOUR CAT TO THE LITTER-ROBOT Most likely, your cat will quickly adapt to the Litter-Robot. Here are some ways to facilitate the transition: 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 LOCATION IS KEY Place the Litter-Robot in the same location as the current litter box, set it up (make sure you add litter to the Globe), and make sure it is turned off. Give your cats a day or two to explore the Litter-Robot. If your cats show no interest, entice them to approach the Litter-Robot by using some catnip or a favorite treat. FAMILIAR SCENTS Add a scoop of litter from the old litter box to the Litter-Robot to provide a familiar scent for your cat. USE TREATS Place treats on the step or around the Litter-Robot so your cat associates rewards with the unit. INTRODUCE THE CLEAN CYCLE Once you notice that your cats have used the Litter-Robot, power the unit on to cycle the unit. Encourage your cats to be present, so they can observe the motion and become familiar with the sound of the Litter-Robot while you are there to reassure them. Turn the unit off again once the cycle is complete (the Litter-Robot should be in the Home position). We recommend that you no longer clean the old litter box once your cats have used the Litter-Robot. MAKE THE OLD LITTER BOX LESS ATTRACTIVE If your cats are not using the Litter-Robot within a few days, continue using the old brand of litter in the old litter box, and let it go as long as possible without cleaning it. Cats prefer a clean litter box and a dirty litter box might persuade them to use the clean Litter-Robot. Also consider replacing the litter in the Litter-Robot with a litter specifically formulated for litter box training. SAY GOODBYE TO SCOOPING Once your cats are consistently using the Litter-Robot, you can turn the unit on and leave it on to operate in Automatic Mode. Enjoy your freedom from scooping! Need help?
