Notice to Exhibitors 1. All events are held under the rules and regulations of the United Kennel Club, Inc. By entering this trial exhibitors acknowledge they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport. 2. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs will be allowed on the grounds or building of a licensed UKC event. 3. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Event Committee, be asked to leave the show site. In that case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. 4. The UKC Utah Nosework Club, their agents, and their club members assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injuries sustained by spectators or exhibitors, to any of their dogs or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to children not under the control of their parents or guardians. The UKC Nosework Club is not responsible for loss, accidents or theft. 5. Dog and handler teams may arrive anytime after 7:00 A.M. and prior to the morning judge s briefing and walk through. Dog and handler teams not required for further judging may leave. An awards ceremony will be held at the completion of each element. 6. The No Smoking rule will be strictly enforced in the building and areas so designated. 7. Exhibitors and dog owners are expected and required to clean up after their own dogs. Any person witnessing a violation of this rule must report it to the Event Committee. The Event Committee may ask any person violating these rules to leave the event grounds. No refund will be made if the Exhibitor is asked to leave the grounds. 8. The UKC will vigorously support any motel that files a complaint about exhibitors that fail to keep their dogs quiet and/or fail to clean-up after them. In order that the bad conduct does not spoil it for the majority of responsibly exhibitors; UKC will take strong disciplinary action against any offenders. 9. On Saturday, indoor crating will be available. On Sunday, you may crate in your car or in an area away from the trial elements. If you use a shade tent it will need to be removed at the end of the trial day since there will be no overnight security. Please check with the trial committee for information on where a tent can be placed. 10.While being walked on the show grounds, dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length. A nosework trial is not an activity where dogs should socialize. Red Bandana dogs should be allowed additional space. Longer lines and flexi leashes may be used only during a search. Handlers will be given time to change leashes if needed before the search. 11. Red Bandana dogs: dogs that are dog or people reactive, or environmentally sensitive and need additional space, may wear a red bandana to indicate this. The bandana can be around the dog s neck, or attached to the leash or harness but must be prominently displayed and secure. The bandana placement should not hinder the dog in any way while searching. 12.Bitches in season, pregnant or lactating females may not compete. Sick dogs, dogs coughing, dogs having sutures, bandages or anything indicative of a medical procedure, or dogs obviously in pain will be excused at the judge s discretion. Overnight Parking/Camping will be available at the Legacy Events Center. Please contact them at (801) 451 4080 for reservations. IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ CAREFULLY The Utah UKC Nosework Club highly recommends that all exhibitors become familiar with the rules for UKC Nosework trials. The complete rulebook is available to download from the UKC website: www.ukcdogs.com NOTICE: There will be an IABCA Conformation Dog Show, and ASCA dog show, and a LaCross event the same weekend as this Nosework trial. So there will be many people and dogs in the area, please be courteous to those involved in the other activites! Refund Policy: Entry fees will be refunded for bitches in season, and for handlers or dogs which are injured and cannot compete, upon receipt by the Trial Secretary of a request and a letter from your veterinarian. The Trial Secretary must receive the request prior to the trial date. Any requests made after the trial date will not be honored. There will be no refund for dogs that are excused from the trial site on the day of the trial for any reason. Also, if a dog has pre-entered the elements, and fails the corresponding Pre-Trial on either Saturday or Sunday, their entry fees can be refunded. A request in writing by email must be sent to the trial secretary at secretary@pawtap.net to receive this refund. Substitution Policy: Substitution of dogs will be allowed. Move Up Policy: Move Ups will be allowed between Trials on the same day, and also between Saturday and Sunday. All dogs must pass a Pre Trial (PT) prior to being eligible to enter an element trial for the corresponding PT odor. If a dog has passed the NACSW Odor Recognition Test for the odor being tested (Birch and Anise for these trials) they DO NOT have to pass a UKC Pre Trial. However, a copy of the record of the ORT pass MUST accompany the entry form. A clear photo copy is acceptable. Without proof of an ORT pass, the team must enter and pass the Pre Trial. GENERAL INFORMATION FOR FILLING OUT THE ENTRY FORMS A and B SECTIONS: Exhibitors must specify on the entry form if they are going to compete in the A or B section for each search. Both sections will have the exact same search. A Section is for teams that are completely new to the sport of Nosework and do not have a title in either UKC or an equivalent title in another organization, such as NACSW. B Section is for all other teams. If you have an equivalent title in another Nosework organization, such as NACSW, you must compete in the B Section. If you are a licensed or professional dog trainer, Nosework instructor, or a person licensed to officiate in Nosework in any organization you must compete in the B section whether or not you have a Nosework title. Once you receive a title you can continue to show in the B section. Entry Forms: The official UKC Nosework Entry form must be used for all entries. Entries to be mailed to Trial Secretary with check payable to Paw Tap Services. For your planning purposes: You need two (2) passes in an element to receive the element title. The Utah UKC Nosework Club is offering four opportunities to earn titles at these trials a Container title, an Interior title, an Exterior title, and a Vehicle title are possible. Water and Snacks will be available to all volunteers. There are many food places close to the Legacy Events Center. You are also welcome to bring a packaged lunch. Lunch will not be provided.
