Winners of the Veteran Dog & Bitch Classes may also compete for Best of Breed Competition, provided that they are undefeated in any Regular Class at this show. ENTRY FEE $20.00. BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed Competition: dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs that according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a Championship but whose Championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose Championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a Championship according to the owners records. Select Dog and Select Bitch are chosen immediately following Best of Breed, BOW, BOS. NSCA AWARDS OF MERIT Awards of Merit may be given to dogs or bitches that are eligible for the Best of Breed Competition, except those Shiba Inu which have been awarded Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, Select Dog or Select Bitch. The Award of Merit indicates the judge s recognition of an animal that would, on any other day, merit a top award. The judge at his/her discretion, may award all, none, or any number of the authorized Awards of Merit, in no particular order. The number of awards given will be no more than 10% of the number of dogs entered in the Best of Breed Competition. The number entered shall be considered exclusive of absentees and valid transfers from other classes prior to the start of the show. A Rosette, and a custom grooming apron, will be awarded each Award of Merit Winner Non-Regular Classes (Involving multiple dog entries) STUD DOG CLASS: For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Get must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition, or some other non-regular class. BROOD BITCH CLASS: For Brood Bitches and two of their Produce. Brood Bitches must be entered in the Brood Bitch Class and must be shown in the ring with their Produce. The owner of the Brood Bitch need not necessarily be owner of the Produce. While the merits of the Brood Bitch are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Brood Bitch must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Produce must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition, or some other non-regular class. BRACE CLASS: Two dogs that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner. The Dogs comprising a Brace MUST be named at the time of entry. In making entries for Brace Class Only full particulars MUST be given for each dog on individual entry forms. An entry form for a dog entered in a Regular Class or for Best of Breed Competition and entered as part of a Brace MUST be marked accordingly in the space provided for Additional Classes, Brace Class. If more than one Brace is entered by same owner, dogs comprising EACH BRACE must be designated Brace No. 1, Brace No. 2, etc. NOTE: As the judge s decision in the Stud Dog, Brood Bitch or Brace Classes is based on the merits of more than one dog/bitch, no one of the dogs/bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice class. Juniors which according to their records have completed the requirements to compete in the Open class but whose status is unconfirmed by the American Kennel Club are limited to competing in the Open Class for a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the Junior completed the requirements according to their records. Novice AND OPEN Class divided: Junior-9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show; Intermediate-12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show; Senior-15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show. NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry. You may obtain your junior identification number by calling the AKC, Judges Education Department, (919) 816-3776. FUTURITY NSCA National Specialty The Futurity is open to Shiba Inu born between April 10, 2009 and April 28, 2010 who have been previously nominated and have remained in nomination in accordance with the rules set forth by the Club. All entries in the Futurity must also be entered in one or more of the regular classes at the regular entry fee. Entry fee for said regular class must be paid and accepted as a valid entry by the superintendent/show secretary responsible for taking said entries. All entries in the Futurity must be made at the same time that the regular class entries are made, and on the regular entry form which should be marked FUTURITY & AGE DIVISION in the space provided for Additional Classes. Futurity entry fee is $10. FUTURITY CLASSIFICATIONS (DIVIDED BY SEX) Junior Division 6 months and under 9 months 9 months and under 12 months Senior Division 12 months and under 15 months 15 months and over JUDGING PROCEDURE FOR FUTURITY STAKES The Judge shall judge the Male entry for the 6-9 month division first, then the Female entry for the same, and shall continue in this manner until all age divisions have been judged, making four placements for each sex, if possible. After completion of all age divisions for both sexes, the first place winners of both sexes for the 6-9 and 9-12 month age divisions shall enter the ring and compete for Best Futurity Junior Puppy and Best Opposite Sex to the Best Futurity Junior Puppy. The same procedure shall be used to judge the 12-15 and 15 month and over class first place winners with the Judge selecting the Best Futurity Senior Puppy and Best Opposite Sex to the Best Futurity Senior Puppy. The Best Futurity Junior Puppy and Best Futurity Senior Puppy shall then compete for the Grand Futurity winner. DIVISION OF FUTURITY PRIZE MONIES $20.00 of each Futurity litter nomination fee collected from litters eligible for the next Futurity stakes and received by the chairman, shall go into the following Futurity accounts : a. 20% of the total amount for stakes expenses; the remaining 80% shall be divided: b. 50% for the Breeders, c. 35% for the Owners, and d. 15% for the owner of the Sire at the time of the mating. MATURITY NSCA National Specialty SUMMARY & REQUIREMENTS All Shiba Inu from a litter previously nominated for Futurity Stakes, which were eligible to compete in the previous year s National Specialty Stakes, shall be eligible to compete in the Maturity Stakes. Any dog which has been nominated for the Futurity Stakes is automatically eligible for the Maturity Stakes, but will only be eligible to enter the Maturity Stakes in the year following the Futurity Stakes for which it was eligible, whether or not it was entered in the previous year s Futurity Stakes. Only dogs that actually compete in the Stakes, for which they are eligible, will be eligible for any Stakes money and/or prizes. Any changes to owner information which was submitted on the original Futurity Puppy Information Form must be sent to the Stakes committee on or before two (2) months prior to the date of the Stakes competition for which the dog is eligible to compete in the Maturity Stakes. Failure to timely submit any changes will render said dog ineligible to compete in the Maturity Stakes. Dog must be entered in any regular class, at the NSCA National Specialty and Obedience Trial, for which it is also eligible for Maturity Stakes competition. BaRay Events will add a $20.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor or agent may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY BASIS. REFUNDS for cancellations due to judge change or cancellations made prior to entries closing will be mailed to said Exhibitor or Agent AFTER THE SHOW. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries. There is no refund for bitches in season in Obedience. FAX ENTRIES Fax entries will be accepted up to closing time. Fee is $4.00 per dog per show. If the credit card charge is denied for any reason, an additional service charge of $20.00 will be added. Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt of a legible or complete transmission (under AKC Rule Ch. 11, Sec. 4). Should Exhibitor NOT receive an acknowledgment within a reasonable time, PLEASE notify BaRay Events at (360) 683-1507 or email dogshows@barayevents.com. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by the Judge or Veterinarian, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. There is no refund for DUPLICATE ENTRIES or OVERPAYMENTS. BaRay Events will make every effort to find all duplicate entries, but if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open, or to complete the Show NO REFUND will be made. Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superintendent/Show Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. Only dogs eligible for these shows will be admitted into the show area. There is no provision for unentered dogs. LOSS OR DAMAGE The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of any accident or misfortune, to either dogs or exhibitors participating in these Shows. The welfare of an Exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. TROPHIES & PRIZES will be awarded in the ring to person exhibiting the dog. No awards will be mailed. ALL RIGHTS TO TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the Club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the Club. All persons and animals on the Show Grounds at any time while the show is in progress, do by attending this show or participating therein, grant to the Club the right to photograph, televise, videotape, audiotape or otherwise use their likeness and voice in any manner without further release or consent.
