World Cynosport APDT Rally Obedience Description For a complete description of the Rally rules, regulations, performance guidelines, explanation of exercises, and different Rally O signs go to www.rallydogs.com. To learn more and get new ideas, you can join the all dogs Rally chat list and talk to other rally enthusiasts by sending a message to Rally0 All Dogs subscribe@yahoogroups.com. World Cynosport Rally encourages participation by ALL dogs purebred or mixed breed, pets or titled champions. Handlers are allowed to encourage their dogs in the ring using verbal praise, petting, and even food rewards just as they would in a good training session. The dogs must perform the exercises correctly and there should be a practiced smooth flow to the performance. Rally courses, depending on the competition level, consist of 18 to 22 stations, laid out in a numbered pattern (like an agility course), performed on leash in Level 1 or off leash in Level 2 and Level 3 (Level 1 title is required to compete at Level 2, Level 2 title is required to compete at Level 3). Also like agility, handlers get to walk the course and familiarize themselves with the pattern without their dog before running the course. During their run, the dog and handler move through the course in heel position, performing each exercise in turn. The highest scores will be earned by teams who move smoothly through the course, completing each exercise accurately with a minimum of commands, and with high enthusiasm and good attitude. Praise and/or verbal encouragement upon completion of exercises are allowed, and extra commands during exercises are minimally penalized. Rally is fun and interesting to watch as the individual style of each team can really show through. There are as many as 58 different stations, which might be seen in a Rally course, primarily variations on basic heel exercises and other Obedience skills. This World Cynosport Rally titling event will allow competitors a chance to earn legs or points toward World Cynosport Rally titles. All breeds and mixed breeds are welcome to compete and World Cynosport Rally is committed to encouraging positive training methods. Puppy and Veterans Classes Veteran Level is open to all dogs over the age of 8 with a valid World Cynosport or APDT Rally registration number. A Veteran Level course will consist of 12 exercises from any Level, plus Start, Finish and a Bonus Exercise from any Level. Please see the World Cynosport Rally Rules and Guidelines Chapter 7 for more info on Veterans Level regulations. Puppy Level is open to all puppies between the age of 6 and 12 months. A Puppy Level course will consist of 10 Level 1 exercises, plus Start, Finish and a Bonus exercise. Please see the World Cynosport Rally Rules and Guidelines Chapter 6 for more info on Puppy Level regulations. Pre Juniors and Junior Classes Pre Juniors Classes is open to children under age 8. Teams must have a JR Registration number prior to entering competition. Pre Junior competitors shall be accompanied in the ring by an adult. The parent/mentor of the team shall walk the course and explain all the exercises with the team prior to the run. The parent/mentor shall accompany the team during the run to encourage or assist the child, but may not actually handle the dog. Please see the World Cynosport Rally Rules and Guidelines Chapter 13 for more information on Pre Juniors competition. JR Rally is for children 8 18. Teams must have a JR Registration number prior to entering competition. Team registration fee is $15.00, a $5.00 discount for spay/neuter, and registration is $5.00 for dogs already registered for Rally events. JR registration does not include registration for other rally events. JR rally Novice courses are 10 12 exercises selected from Level 1 stations 1 21. Jump Heights It is not required that dogs be measured the day of the trial or prior to judging. However, judges have the option of measuring any dog prior to his/her performance if the dog appears to be entered in a group lower than might be indicated by his or her registered shoulder height. Jump heights may also be modified based on physical challenges (such as age, body type, or disability such as blindness or the use of a mobility device ) that a particular dog may face. Shoulder height under 12 inches...jump 4 inches Shoulder height 12 inches to under 16 inches...jump 8 inches Shoulder height 16 inches to under 20 inches...jump 12 inches Shoulder height 20 inches and over...jump 16 inches Level A & B Classes Level A classes are for teams that have not yet completed their title at that level. Level B classes are for teams that have already completed their title at that level.

Payment of entry fees and service charges shall be made in cash or money order within 30 days of postmark of notice of returned check where notification is received after event date. Any fees not received within 30 days of notice result in cancellation of event results for all classes for the registration number(s) of delinquent entry/entries. Any unpaid fees or shortfalls must be paid prior to the start of the event or entry is canceled without recourse by owner/handler. All video, broadcast, and telecast rights for this event are the exclusive property of the WCR APDT or the trial host(s). Owners with disabilities are encouraged to compete. Any necessary modifications to the exercises must be provided by the handler to the judge and approved by the judge. Upon successful completion of a stationary exercise, the owner may choose to briefly pet or touch the dog as a reward. The owner may also choose to give the dog food as a reward. Food may NOT be used as a lure to help the dog complete an exercise. Food rewards must be contained in pockets or hidden treat pouches and only be present in the owner s hand in between exercises. Any petting, touching, or feeding that significantly interrupts the flow of performance shall be scored accordingly. Exhibitors may use food as a reward in the ring upon completion of any stationary exercise. Veteran and Puppy classes allow food rewards to be used more liberally.
