The next CAT events will be May 14 th and 15 th, 2016 and June 11 th and 12 th, 2016 and will be held at the American Legion Post #434 in Oak Creek. Marketing: We have identified various Facebook sites and they seem to have affected CAT the most so far. The last CATs were totally filled. We need members to promote the next class sign-up on August 31 st. We have handed out event and class fliers at various locations and dog shows. Membership: No report. Obedience/Rally Events: Our next Obedience Trial is a one day event on December 19 th. Meredith Biehl has volunteered to be the Trial Secretary. Strategic Planning: It was stated that the committee was disbanded. It was suggested that we consider grantsmanship. The Herbert H. Kohl Foundation offers grants for prevention of animal cruelty. Bev Felten volunteered to look into this. Training: No report. Delegate s Report: No report. Unfinished Business: Officers and Directors Liability Insurance was approved by the Board and will become effective within the next week. New Business: Website: Meredith Biehl stated she could have a basic website up by approximately October 1 st. We need a policy for event chairmen to be able to spend money on capital expenses. Don Adams made a motion that event chairs be able to spend up to $500.00 for capital equipment for an event. There was discussion of the dollar amount to be spent and the motion was amended to $250.00. Wendy Anderson seconded the amended motion and the amended motion passed. There was a discussion that the Marketing Committee be allowed to spend $100.00 and other committees be allowed to spend $50.00 for discretionary expenses. After discussion, Don Adams made a motion that the Marketing Committee and Hospitality Committee be allowed to spend $100.00 per quarter for discretionary expenses. Karen Paul seconded the motion and the motion passed. 4
5 We are in the process of drafting a new contract for building rentals that clearly spells out the rental terms. It was brought up that we need to expand the volunteer cards to include cleaning the building. Don Adams made a motion to extend the volunteer cards to include cleaning and maintenance of the building. There was discussion regarding limits to the number of punches for this activity. The motion was withdrawn and the item was referred to the Membership Committee. Key contracts for keys to the building were also referred to the Membership Committee. Old Business: Fromm Petfest The Lure Coursing is all set up. We will have two Lure Coursing sites for people to try lure coursing. Wendy Anderson made a motion that Cudahy Kennel Club pay $30.00 to be listed in the Waukesha Kennel Club Breeders Directory. This would also include an online listing. Fran Aring seconded the motion and the motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm. Respectfully submitted, Fran Aring, Recording Secretary Membership Meeting at the Clubhouse August 18, 2015 The membership meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. Members and Board Members Present: Cristina Cook, Bev Felten, Jan Guthrie, Tori Baldwin, Melody Corranza, Kelly Beres, Dave Bromikowski(Guest), Kay Pedersen, Ricky Adams, Don Adams, Nancy Freitag, Wendy Anderson, Mary Beth Hackney, Karen Paul, Greg Oberdorf, Meredith Biehl and Fran Aring. There were no minutes for July as there was not a quorum. The membership was brought up to date on the roof and the renewal of our loan. The original bids for a new roof for the building came in at between $60,000 and $80,000. The board met twice with the banker. As our income over the last couple years is too irratic the bank is not inclined to approve additional money with the renewal of our loan for a new roof. The bank did renew our mortgage for the building. However we will be able to replace the current furnaces for approximately $7,000 to $8000. They would be similar but larger than the current ones which are noisy and not working well. There would be no air conditioning included with these quotes. We will get more fans to direct the heat down to the floor. New furnaces will make the building more comfortable in the winter. This may also help with winter rentals. Quotes for complete HVAC system came in at $25,000 to $35,000 for the building. We will still have to patch the roof and hope it will hold up until we can raise more money or show a better income flow to the bank so that we can have a better chance at financing a new roof. 5
Prospective New Members: Dave Bromikowski: Dave has volunteered at our Agility, Obedience and Conformation shows. Dave has English Springer Spaniels. Reports: Secretary s Report: See Board Minutes. Treasurer s Report: See Board Minutes. Committeee Reports: There were no questions, see Board Minutes. Conformation Show Critique: The generators were noisy in the grooming tent. We need to rent a portable PA system to make announcements at the show. This would also be handy if we have any seminars at the building. It was brought up that other kennel clubs have PA systems. There was too much crating under the show tents and it was difficult to get in and out of the tents because of this. We had more spectators at the show on Saturday this year. The CAT field was amazingly tight this year. There was a suggestion to check into the large soccer field, but this field is further from the Conformation show site and parking isn t as close. Premiums for the Conformation and CAT shows were out late. Back to Furnaces: Tori brought up that she can get furnaces at her cost plus 10% for about $1650 for both of them not including installation. We will check into this further. The program for the September meeting will be on Search and Rescue Dogs. Greg Oberdorf asked about Tom s proposal for grading/moving the gravel around in the parking lot. The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Fran Aring, Recording Secretary faring@ameritech.net 6 Special Board Meeting at the Clubhouse August 25, 2015 The Special Board Meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm.
