Judy Garbarino Benefit RAFFLE As part of our package of opportunities to contribute to the fund for Judy we will be holding THREE raffles. 1. Donations are being solicited for a raffle to be held on Sunday, March 21, of various items. These will be on display, tickets will be available at the trial (or you can preorder if you would like). The drawing will be held on Sunday at lunch time. We have several people who will be putting together baskets for this drawing, Terry Kenney is donating a free private herding lesson to be redeemed in July 2017 when he is at PackLeader and others will be donating individual items. Usually lots of good and fun items available so try your luck for a good cause. (Must be present to win OR make arrangements for someone on site to pick up your winnings. Unfortunately, we are not able to hold them over for you.) 2. Clinic Raffle: PackLeader Farm and Terry Kenney are donating one working slot in the Terry Kenney Cattle Clinic to be held July 10-12, 2017. (Value: $300.00) 3. JG Benefit AHBA Trial March 25-26, 2017 March 25-26, 2017 HTAD Course 5 Sheep GENERAL RULES: Time 10 minutes for HTAD I & II, 12 minutes for HTAD III. Ties are broken based on individual scores in the following order: Exercise 6 Figure 8 Panels, Exercise 8 Re-Pen, Time. 1. GATHER 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the dog is sent to gather the sheep. Team should move to the location appropriate for their level. Gather the sheep and move to the Handler s Post. Exercise ends when sheep have moved behind the Handler s Post. HTADI Dog may be positioned half way to sheep, the Handler may move to within 15 of sheep. HTADII Dog is positioned at the Handler s Post; the Handler may move half-way to sheep. HTADIII Dog and handler will be positioned at the Handler s Post. 2. OBSTACLE #1 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep have moved behind the Handler s Post. Team shall move the sheep through Obstacle #1. Exercise ends when sheep exit Obstacle #1. 3. HOLD 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep exit Obstacle #1. Team should move sheep to the marker indicating the hold area. In the open, the dog should independently hold the sheep to the handler. Exercise ends when the Judge calls the Hold. 4. LEVEL I & II ONLY OBSTACLE #2 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the Judge calls the Hold. Team shall move sheep to Obstacle #2. Team shall move the sheep straight through Obstacle #2 exiting out the opposite end. Exercise ends when all the sheep have exited the end of Obstacle #2. 5. LEVEL III ONLY OBSTACLE #2 & SORT 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the Judge calls the Hold. The team will move the sheep through Obstacle #2. Utilizing the gap in the side of Obstacle #2, the team shall sort 2 sheep out of the gap while the other 3 sheep exit out the opposite end of Obstacle #2. Exercise ends when all the sheep have exited Obstacle #2. 6. FIGURE 8 PANELS 15 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep have exited the Obstacle #2. Move sheep through the Figure 8 Panels as drawn on the diagram. Then move sheep to the cone near P1. Exercise ends when sheep have moved behind the cone near P1. HTADI Handler may move anywhere including between the panels. HTADII/III Handler may not move between the panels. 7. FETCH/DRIVE HRDI/II: 15 pts. HRDIII: 20 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep have moved behind the cone. Fetch/Drive the sheep across the arena towards the Level II Drive Marker. Then continue to move the sheep to the Level III Drive Marker. Exercise ends when sheep arrive at the Level III Drive Marker. HTADI Handler may move anywhere. HTADII Handler stays anywhere behind the Level II Drive Marker until the sheep have gone past the Level III Drive Marker. HTADIII Handler stays behind the Level III Handler s Line until the sheep reach the Level III Drive Marker. 8. REPEN 10 pts.: Exercise begins when sheep arrive at the Level III Drive Marker. All Teams shall move the sheep to P2, hold stock off gate, and re-pen. Exercise ends when the gate to P2 is closed.

March 25-26, 2017 HRD Sheep GENERAL RULES: Time 15 minutes. In all elements, quiet efficient stock work is essential. All elements must be attempted prior to moving on. All gates may be open/closed or pre-set at the Handler s discretion to increase safety. Time will not end until all gates have been restored to their original/starting position. Ties are broken based on individual scores in the following order: Exercise 7 Open Movement, Exercise 6 Obstacle 2, Time. STARTING SET- UP: All gates must be returned to the starting positions. 4 groups of (5) sheep in pens behind the round pen. Additional groups in reserve 1. GATHER 20 pts.: Exercise begins when the gate to Field 3 is opened. Team will proceed to the position for their level. Gather (5) sheep and move sheep from Field 3 into Field 2. Exercise ends when the sheep enter Field 2. HRDI Dog is left behind the Level II Handler s line, Handler may move within 15 feet of sheep HRDII Dog is left behind the Level III Handler s line, Handler may move up to the Level II Handler s line. HRDIII Team begins from behind the Level III Handler s line, where the Handler remains until the sheep cross the Level III Handler s line. 2. OBSTACLE #1 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep enter Field 2. Move sheep through Obstacle #1. Exercise ends when the sheep have cleared the plane of Obstacle #1. 3. PEN 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep have cleared the plane of Obstacle #1. Move sheep to the Round Pen and pen. Exercise ends when the sheep are penned and the Round Pen gate is closed. 4. HRDIII ONLY: SORT 10 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep are penned and the Round Pen gate is closed. Sort 2 sheep and release into Holding Pen leaving 3 sheep in the Round Pen. Exercise ends when the team leaves the Round Pen and the gate is closed. 5. TAKE PEN & OBSTACLE #2 15 pts.: Exercise begins when the Round Pen gate is closed. Proceed to the Take Pen and remove (5) sheep. Move sheep into Arena C, through Obstacle #2 and into Field 2. Exercise ends when the sheep enter Field 2. 6. OPEN MOVEMENT 10 pts.: Exercise ends when the sheep enter Field 2. Fetch the sheep across Field 2 and into Field 3. Exercise ends when the sheep enter Field 3. 7. FETCH/DRIVE 20 pts.: Exercise begins when the sheep enter Field 3. Fetch/Drive the sheep to the designated Set- Out point. Exercise ends when the sheep reach the designated Set-Out point. HRDI Handler may move anywhere HRDII Handler remains behind the Level II Handler s line. HRDIII Handler remains behind the Level III Handler s line. Time stops when ALL gates have been restored to their original/starting position.
