Laleham Dog Training Club NEWSLETTER July 2015 WATCH OUT! With the grass so dry in these hot summer months, there is a danger that your dog can get grass seeds stuck between his toes. If these are not removed they can embed themselves in your dog s paw and a trip to the vet will be necessary! So to save yourself a 50-60 vet bill, check your dog s feet when they come in from playing and if you feel, or see a grass seed, remove it immediately! Kennel Cough Please note that if your dog has had Kennel Cough, you must wait a minimum of 10 days AFTER the cough has cleared up before you bring him back to classes Tellington TTouch Tellington TTouch can help you understand and influence your dog with your heart and hands in a way that develops trust, creates a harmonious relationship and changes unwanted behaviour. The magic of TTouch can impact the physical, mental and emotional aspects of your dog See back page for a special opportunity to attend a talk and demonstration by Marion Ostler: Bsc. Obedience & Agility The Kennel Club Good Citizen Classes are in full swing at all levels. If you have friends who wish to join, please ask them to contact Elizabeth on the club mobile 07939 189917. NB There will be several test results in next month s newsletter. Agility classes are as popular as ever. Dogs over 1 year old with a good wait and an excellent recall may participate in agility but the waiting list is very long so it s best to get your dog s name on the waiting list sooner rather than later if you think you might be interested. Contact Lynn on 07947 480784 or email lynn_gibney@talktalk.net to get your name on the waiting list. HOW TO CONTACT YOUR TRAINER As a courtesy, the trainers appreciate it if you contact them to let them know if you are running late or cannot attend your class. If it s the same day as your class, it s best to ring rather than email. The Club Mobile is primarily for new enquiries and should not be used to pass on messages for trainers. German Shepherd Dog Rescue Charity Photo Shoot We have been approached by a fundraiser for German Shepherd Dog Rescue to see if anyone is interested in a Photo Shoot of their dog(s) similar to the Photo Shoot that Helen Baldwin ran for us back in March and at the Fun day in June except this Photo Shoot will be in the comfort of someone s home (so no noisy generator putting dogs off from looking their best!). It will also be for a full 25 minutes! Sessions will run from 10 am to 5pm on 8 th August 2015 in Englefield Green, Egham. Each shoot will cost 25 and for that you get 25 minutes with professional photographer Zia Clarke (Zac Photography for those who want to look her up through Facebook) and the best photos will be emailed to you afterwards. Each shoot will be personal to you and your dog. If you want photos with you as well, that s perfectly fine. Take props as well if you wish. Tellington TTouch Tellington TTouch is a method based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body. The intent of the TTouch is to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence - a little like "turning on the electric lights of the body." Developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones, PhD (Hon), this method (based on cooperation and respect) offers a positive approach to training, can improve performance and health and presents solutions to common behavioural and physical problems. It also helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and animals through increased understanding and more effective communication. Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises, TTouch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviours. By using the TTouch and a variety of other tools you can assist the animal in experiencing self-confidence in previously frightening situations. Even the most difficult problems are often eliminated. You can also learn how to apply the Tellington TTouch to assist with recovery from illness or injury, or just enhance the quality of your animal's life. The Tellington TTouch can help in cases of: Excessive Barking & Chewing Leash Pulling Extreme Fear & Shyness Aggressive Behaviour Jumping Up Resistance to Grooming Excitability & Nervousness Car Sickness Problems Associated With Aging A TALK AND DEMONSTRATION BY MARION OSTLER BSC (HONS); TELLINGTON TTOUCH PRACTITIONER (PI) ON: - SATURDAY 15 TH AUGUST FROM 2PM 4PM (in the barn) COST 10 PER PERSON (No dogs to be brought to the workshop) Tellington TTouch Workshop Registration (Please complete one form per person.
