The AAFP s annual conference is recognized as the leading feline healthcare forum. The AAFP s annual conference reinforces its mission to improve the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation. The AAFP is dedicated to advancing the field of feline medicine and setting standards of feline care through the publication of practice guidelines, its Cat Friendly Practice (CFP) designation, and by providing continuing education such as its annual conference, online webinars, and more. The conference attracts the most influential academic and industry experts and professionals who share the latest research, exchange ideas, and formulate future plans on how to elevate the level of feline healthcare worldwide. This year s conference explored the subject of Feline Gastroenterology and Endocrinology and featured an outstanding slate of topics and distinguished speakers including: Dr. Sharon Center, James Law Professor of Medicine, Cornell University Dr. Audrey Cook, Associate Professor in Small Medicine, Texas A&M University Dr. Robin Downing, The Downing Center of Pain Management Dr. Michael Lappin, Professor of Small Internal Medicine, Colorado State University Dr. Susan Little, Professor and Krull Ewing Chair in Veterinary Parasitology, Oklahoma State University Heather Lynch, Tatum Point Hospital Dr. Gary Norsworthy, Alamo Feline Center, San Antonio, TX Dr. Mark Peterson, Endocrine Clinic, New York, NY Paula Plummer, Veterinary Technician. Jane Robertson, IDEXX Laboratories Dr. Catherine Scott Moncrieff, Professor of Small Internal Medicine, Purdue University Dr. Kenneth Simpson, Professor of Small Medicine, Cornell University Dr. Craig Webb, Associate Professor and Head of Small Medicine Section, Colorado State University The conference was full of CE credited seminars and delved into a wide range of topics such as:

New data on small bowel and chronic gastrointestinal disease Feline constipation and pancreatitis Feline Hyperthyroidism Benefits of the AAFP s Cat Friendly Practice (CFP) designation Unique feline hepatic syndromes and liver disease Understanding and management of feline diabetes This year s AAFP annual conference program was outstanding, execution was flawless, and social events were high energy. In short, the conference was a unanimous success, said Marcus Brown, DVM and President of the AAFP. On behalf of the AAFP, I want to thank all of our speakers and attendees for taking the time and effort to attend the conference and create meaningful dialogue and discussion. Our appreciation also goes to our sponsors and exhibitors for their generous support, making a conference of this magnitude possible and our most attended yet. The conference s two concurrent tracks allowed attendees to customize their learning experience and jump between tracks based on their personal interests and needs. The main veterinary tracks highlighted cutting edge feline research, the latest information in feline medicine, and there was an additional third track devoted specifically to para professionals. Here s what conference attendees had to say: The caliber of CE was unmatched. The AAFP s 2014 conference was a home run by every definition of the word. This is the best conference I ve ever attended! I am a first time (AAFP) attendee and I will certainly be back. Thanks for a refreshing weekend! I love (AAFP) conferences. They are very beneficial with great practical content. I will be back year after year. I always leave with new ways to treat things and more knowledge to tackle those difficult and everyday cases. The AAFP would like to recognize and thank the following 14 conference sponsors for their help and support producing this highly successful event: Boehringer Ingelheim Bayer Merial Elanco Abbott Hill s Pet Nutrition, Inc. Purina IDEXX Laboratories Dechra Veterinary Products Merck Nutramax Laboratories, Inc. Royal Canine USA, Inc. About the American Association of Feline Practitioners The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) improves the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education and scientific investigation. The AAFP has a long standing reputation and track record in the veterinary community for facilitating high standards of practice and publishes guidelines for practice excellence which are available to veterinarians at the AAFP website. Over the years, the AAFP has encouraged veterinarians to continuously re evaluate preconceived notions of practice strategies in an effort to advance the quality of feline medicine practiced. The Cat Friendly Practice program is the newest effort created to improve the treatment, handling, and overall healthcare provided to cats. Its purpose is to equip veterinary practices with the tools, resources, and information to elevate the standard of care provided to cats. Find more information at www.catvets.com. Photographs Provided (for more photos and captions, visit: http://on.fb.me/1uzcz6s). Eight hundred sixty two attendees gathered for four days of engaging feline CE at the AAFP s 2014 annual conference in Indianapolis, IN. The AAFP s 2014 annual conference included a Cat Friendly Practice (CFP) panel where panelists presented tips on how they implemented the program in their practices and answered questions from those that want to become a CFP. Information included creative ways to implement checklist items, how to achieve participation from all staff, and how the program has helped their practice grow.

The AAFP s 2014 annual conference included many opportunities to socialize with colleagues including at the Exhibitor s Reception sponsored by Bayer. Bug, the adventure cat, who is comfortable socializing with large groups, visited the Cat Friendly Practice booth at the AAFP s 2014 annual conference in Indianapolis, IN.

This year s offsite event party for the AAFP s 2014 annual conference, sponsored by Elanco, was held at the Indiana State Museum. The event featured gondola rides along the canal, live jazz music during cocktail hour, new museum gallery exhibits to explore, and a DJ helped all dance the night away.
