JUDGES' ASSIGNMENTS Luis Teixeira All Regular & Non-Regular conformation classes Mr. Teixeira is a Civil Engineer with 30 years professional experience. He has owned and exhibited German Shepherd Dogs (breeder), Boxers, Dachshunds, Pekingese, Irish Setters, Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers (breeder), and Beagles. He has been an all-rounder recognized by the Portuguese Kennel Club and the FCI since 1985. He has judged Specialty shows for the following breeds: GSD, Boxers, Dobermans, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Tibetan Terriers, Chows, St. Bernard's, Basset Hounds, Collies, Cocker Spaniels, Newfoundlands, Pekingese, Beagles, English Springer Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, Sussex Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Boston Terriers, Pugs, Chihuahuas, Bichons, Coton de Tulear, Pomeranians, Papillons, All Terriers, Salukis, Afghan Hounds, Whippets, Tibetan Mastiff, American Cockers, Shar Pei, Mastiff, Bullmastiff, Dachshunds, and Dalmatians. Mr. Teixeira has judged over 600 shows world-wide including the world show many times. He was Chairman of the Judges Commission for the Portuguese Kennel Club from 1991 to 1996. President of the Portuguese Kennel Club from 1989 to 1990. He was President of the German Shepherd Club from 1983 to 1997, President of the Collie Club 1985 to 1989. Chairman of the Boxer Club from 1995 to 2000, collaboration for several dog magazines, and has given seminars and lectures about dog breeding, conformation breeds and regulations. Hugh Middleditch All Sweepstakes classes I started with show dogs in 1970 with Doberman Pinschers, breeding and handling Dobermans to many top breed honors, including Canada s #1 Dobe in 1997 with our red bitch BIS BISS Ch Hearthfires August Dream. I professionally handled many breeds for over 20 years, showing several top dogs in Canada enjoying over 75 Best In Show wins. Rottweilers were one of my favorite breeds, highlighted with handling BIS BISS AM CAN Ch Aramars Abraham Grizzwald to Canada s #1 Rotty in 1994. CHAMPIONSHIP POINT SCHEDULE The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points awarded Winners shall be as follows: *DOGS COMPETING 1 2 3-5 6-9 10-12 13 & More POINTS ALLOCATED 0 1 2 3 4 5 *Includes the dog awarded Winners In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Additional Championship points may be attainable at the group level. See the CKC Dog Show Rules for details. CKC Non-Member Participation Fee 24-12-3. Non-member participation fee a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian non-member of CKC. The fee will match the ERN fee. b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. c) "these fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by Canadian resident non-ckc members and are not applicable to CKC members" *Please note that the CKC Membership Application and the Non-Member Participation Fee forms are available on the website, http://www.ckc.ca under CKC Services and then Forms On-line. Over the last 20 plus years I have had the pleasure of judging National Specialty Sweeps in many different breeds including a previous Rottweiler National. This ERN does not register a dog with CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act but rather enables a foreign-owned dog to be awarded titles by the Canadian Kennel Club. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog's foreign registration certificate with cheque or VISA/MasterCard number (expiry date, cardholder's name and signature). SPECIALTY CLASSIFICATIONS August 3, 2014 The following CKC classes (divided by sex) will be provided: Baby Puppy for dogs 3 months of age but under 6 months of age Junior Puppy......for dogs 6 months of age but under 9 months of age Senior Puppy....for dogs 9 months of age but under 12 months of age 12-18 Months.....for dogs 12 months of age but under 18 months of age Canadian Bred.......for dogs born in Canada; champions in any country excluded Bred By Exhibitor....for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder Open...for all dogs Veteran....for any dog, 7 years of age or older on the day of the show. These dogs do not compete for Winners, but the winner of this class shall go on to compete for Best of Breed. DOGS COMPETING IN THIS CLASS MAY BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED. Specials Only.....dogs which are registered individually, in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club or have a CKC ERN number and have attained championship status may be entered in the "Specials Only" class. Entry of a dog in "Specials Only" is not prohibited on the grounds that the title of champion has not been confirmed by the CKC, but if it is found later that the dog had not attained championship status before the entry had been made, then all awards attained at the show will be cancelled. The entry of a 'listed' dog in Specials Only is not allowed. Exhibition Only...for all dogs over 6 months of age and eligible for registration with the Canadian Kennel Club Exhibition Only(3-6 months) puppies 3-6 months of age may be entered in Exhibition Only (3-6 Months) provided the owner(s) has entered a dog in a Regular Official Class. Puppies in this category may enter and compete in Sweepstakes classes if offered. These puppies may not participate in any other regular, non-regular or unofficial classes or Parades AW ARD OF MERIT prizes and rosettes (1 for every 10 entries in Best of Breed competition) will be awarded at the judge s discretion. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Dog Show Rulebooks and Obedience Trial regulations are available from the Canadian Kennel Club. Cost is $6.42 (plus 5% GST) per copy. In Canada call tollfree 1-800-250-8040, in the United States call 1-416-675-5511. 2. The Show Superintendent will be in full charge of the show, which will be governed by CKC rules. All rules and regulations, as outlined in the Alberta Kennel Club premium list, will also apply to this specialty. 3. Entries will be acknowledged after closing date. Receipts, judging schedules, and exhibitor s passes will be mailed. If such acknowledgement is not received one week before the show date, please contact the Show Secretary. 4. Entry fees shall not be refunded after the closing date in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. If because of riot, civil disturbance, or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 5. All dogs must be kept on leash while on the grounds. You are responsible for cleaning up when your dog relieves himself. PLEASE STOOP AND SCOOP AT ALL TIMES THANK YOU. Failure to do so may result in being expelled from the SHOW GROUNDS by the Superintendent 6. All dogs must be kept under control at all times. 7. The Conformation Show Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred. 8.
