Key measures taken to establish a compartment of high health All horses in the stable (compartment) are subjected to testing to certify their high health status during a period of three months The compartment is effectively isolated from the surrounding equine population and applies biosecurity measures All new entrants into the stable are also tested and isolated
Country health scenario 1 Preparation conditions differ depending on the equine health situation in the country Country / zone is of: Known health status Requirements for horses in the compartment: Piroplasmosis testing EI vaccination or country free or antibody test EIA test Stable = compartment After completion of testing and vaccination: Registered premises for high health Note: in this scenario, horses can move in and out of the stable, subject to prevailing veterinary inspection and keeping a detailed movement record, during the preparation period
Country health scenario 2 Requirements for horses in the compartment: Piroplasmosis test EI vaccination or country free or antibody test EIA test + Glanders specific: 2 serological test 6 months no glanders case reported After completion of testing and vaccination: Registered premises for high health
Country health scenario 3 Requirements for horses in the compartment: Piroplasmosis testing EI vaccination or country free or antibody test EIA test + VEE specific: After completion of testing and vaccination: Registered premises for high health 2 serological tests while under vector protection Vector protection for the last 3 weeks or vaccination 6 months no VEE case reported
Country health scenario 4 Requirements for horses in the compartment: After completion of testing and vaccination: Registered premises for high health Piroplasmosis testing EI vaccination or country free or antibody test EIA test + AHS specific: Vaccination 40 days before entering the stable Stable vector protected; horses also vector protected when training 1 st PCR test Last 14 days in vector protected quarantine, 2 nd PCR test
Stable is registered for: After successful establishment of the high health status compartment, selection of HHP horses, high performance horses Select horses for competition
Additional requirements before HHP horses can travel, depending on the country health status where stable is located: Scenario 1 (known health status) Scenario 2 (unknown health status for glanders) Scenario 3 (unknown status for VEE) Scenario 4 (not offically free of AHS) Single test for glanders At least last 10 days residency in compartment Last 3 weeks residency under vector protection (if not vaccinated) Last 14 days quarantine under vector protection HHP ticket to travel After completion of residency: Registration as HHP horse and ready to travel
