History Vertical Technik Ltd. has begun to develope skate facilities in 1989. The products are characterized by long life and will always be further developed. The objective of Vertical has remained the same as in the pioneering days; build skating facilities that meet the needs of the users and the operators. The capable team welcomes your questions and answers with pleasure. Customer is king is the motto. For the tasks of our customers we provide effective and efficient solutions says CEO and founder Paul Heuberger. Consulting At the beginning of a skatepark project, it is important to gather reliable information and data. We will help in obtaining the basics you need for your decisions. Over twenty years of experience in the field of skate facilities in the public space is made available to our customers. Vertical Technik Ltd. consults on projects in all areas: indoor, outdoor and events. Financing We can help facilitate the financing through banks (leasing only for municipalities) and we can provide you contacts of sponsors and institutions that support youth projects financially. Ask us, we find solutions. Workshops We participate in workshops that are at the beginning of a project. With our experience we can help save time and reach a goal efficiently. Issues: Project plan with resources, schedule and budget; visualizations, concepts of operations, cost calculation; participation of the users of any age, sketching, modelling, location tracking, vision, goals, milestones, building permits, appeal period, arguments, talking to residents, noise report, etc. CAD Design Our skateparks are designed and visualized in 3D. Riding surfaces compared Concrete (prefabricated elements) Properties Maintenance Noise Environment / recycling Fast to ride with hard and soft wheels, smooth and fine surface. Limited to the renewal of paint approximately every 5 years on the most frequented places. Quiet riding as long as the concrete is smooth, absorbs sound by very high own net mass. Re-use possible, need of proper disposal, costs for crane, transport, recycling. Concrete (on site construction) Fast to ride with hard and soft wheels as long as the concrete is smooth. On site poured concrete sands out faster than prefab elements. Surface cracks after a short time, annual repairs needed. Quiet riding as long as the concrete is smooth, absorbs sound by very high own net mass. Proper disposal required, costs for demolition, excavations, crane, transports. HPL riding surface (solid core) Fast to ride with hard and soft wheels, perfect texture. Essentially no maintenance because the material does not rot, no wear. Quiet riding due to high own net mass (riding surface, 8 mm thick). Basic material kraft paper and phenol resin, it can be disposed off as household waste. Skatelite riding surface (solid core) Fast to ride with hard and soft wheels, perfect texture. Essentially no maintenance because the material does not rot, no wear. Noisy riding surface since low weight (6 mm thick). Basic material kraft paper and phenol resin, it can be disposed off as household waste. Birch plywood riding surface (Indoor) Medium speed to ride with hard and soft wheels, grippy texture but smooth enough to do Reverts. Requires maintenance after 1-2 years. Sanding and varnishing or paint every 2 years. Noisier than HPL riding surface (9 mm thick). Construction of birch plywood, it can be disposed off as waste wood. Beech plywood riding surface (Indoor) High speed to ride with hard and soft wheels, grippy texture but smooth enough to do Reverts. Requires maintenance after 1-2 years. Annual repairs in heavy used spots, in addition: After damage by mechanical means (cracks caused by skateboards, BMX pegs or in-line skates) the surface must be repaired, repaint can be necessary up to once a year. Noisy riding surface due to low own net mass (light surface), drum effect because there is no structural material behind the surface (self-supporting construction). Polyester based material with fibre glass must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Galvanized steel riding surface Fast to ride with hard and soft wheels, slippery, painting not possible (paint does not stick). Requires maintenance after 1-3 years (renew galvanization). Quiet due to high own net mass (riding surface 3 mm thick). Base material iron, disposal as scrap metal for free. General Notice People s Noise: The noise of the people on and around skate facilities can sometimes be higher than the one caused by using the skate facilities. 5

In workshops we evaluate the future users wishes and needs and make them a part of the design. We are at your side from the first plans through the entire construction phase until the opening event and we are happy to help you designing your operational concept. Outdoor Concrete Skate Parks Concrete Skate Park, Lugano An outdoor concrete skate park can be made in two fundamentally different techniques: On site in poured concrete or in construction from prefabricated elements. The differences between the two methods are about quality and maintenance. Concrete skateparks from prefabricated elements are durable, of high quality and weatherproof. The elements are manufactured in precise molds at a constant temperature and humidity. The concrete grade is C55/67 according to EN 14974. Locally, we assemble the elements on the foundations and close the joints so that when you drive over them with a skateboard you can not feel any transitions. Between the elements we pour 15 cm thick concrete surfaces with double armed steel reinforcement. The result is a fast, hard and wear resistant surface. Due to the high flexibility of the manufacturing plant, all customer-specific requirements in terms of shape and measurements are taken in consideration. We rely on the design with prefabricated elements, because the so constructed Skateparks are smoother to drive, because they last longer, they are cheaper in the medium term, and because we only offer products of high quality to our customers. Outdoor Classic Skateramps Minirampe HPL surface in Sursee / Switzerland Rider: Ruben Bühler The best choices for low to medium budget projects are our classic skateramps in galvanized steel construction and with maintenance-free HPL riding surface. Even less costly are these ramps with steel riding surface. Thanks to the modular system, the structures can be extended and fitted to almost any need and space. Our ramps are designed for causing a minimum of noise and can hence be installed in residential areas. We offer them as DIY kit or take care of their installation. Maintenance Contract Security is important to us. We offer contracts that foresee technical inspections of our clients skateramps once or twice a year. Minor damages are fixed immediately. Larger defects are documented and the repair quoted separately. Security General: Platforms have railings on three sides. Because of their vertical bars (except for hand railing and lower cross traverse), they do not mislead to climbing. Bars on the bottom of the platform prevent skateboards and bottles from falling down on people. Norms: Installations are built and mounted according to: EN 14974 standards, bfu (Switzerland), NF 52-401 (France), DIN 33943 (Germany) PAS35 (UK). Security zones: For maximum security every skateramp has a security zone, with minimal distances to the next obstacle. Security zones are classified in: In-run, landing- and security zones. Openings on tubes: All metal tubes are closed to prevent accidents. Information panel for a skatepark To operate a skatepark safely, it is necessary to inform users and visitors about the dangers and the rules. A well structured information panel is an effective mean for doing so. For the managers of a skatepark (municipalities, schools, clubs, etc.), this information is important in order to eliminate potential problems in advance. The information panel will be proposed either as standard or with an individual design. The standard information panel contains information about the risks and the use. On the individually designed information panel the logo of the community and of partners can be printed. This information panel is mounted in a central place on the railing of an installation or on a galvanized steel bracket on the asphalt. Security profiles In order to reduce the risk of the skaters to hurt themselves at the exposed edges of the ramps, we have developped security profiles made of Rubber EPDM. L Profile (Art. Nr. KSK.091.004) The L Profile is used to prevent injuries on exposed edges. We install it on all street modules and ramps, it is included in the purchase price. Characteristics L Profile Protection of the riders in the area of exposed edges Measurements 40 x 60 mm Mounted on the metal structure or into the wooden beams Rideable with skateboards (grinding is possible only on the steel version) P Profile (Art. Nr. KSK.091.005) The P Profile is used mostly on Microramps, Miniramps and Halfpipes. Characteristics P Profile: Prevention of the spectators from skateboards flying off the ramp Diameter 60 mm Thickness 10 mm over riding surface 110 mm Mounted on the metal structure with galvanized lock plates, straight or bent Installation on existing modules or ramps is possible Enclosures Example: Miniramp with enclosure Example: Miniramp without enclosure Our installations can be closed with metallic sheets. The enclosures leave a gap of 30 mm above the ground so rain water and moisture can evaporate. Between the metal construction and the enclosure, a rubber band is mounted to avoid vibration and noise. The spaces underneath the installation can be used for storage of cleansing tools and other material. Doors with security locks can be installed. Prevention of vandalism: Enclosures can prevent vandalism and also dumping of thrash underneath. The cleaning effort is reduced and the clean look of the installations leads to better image of a skatepark. 28

Revision / Recycling Have your skateramps seen better days? We offer renovation, repair, disassembly and recycling of your facilities and give you fair advice after having checked them. Transport / Rearrangement We can transport your skateramps or rearrange them. With our trailer that measures 2.5 x 7.5 m flat bed and a payload of 4.5 mt, we offer special transports at favourable conditions. We know how to move large installations without causing any damage. Second Hand We quickly find a new place for used skateramps, selling them for a good price. Ask for our second hand-list. 29
