CONFORMATION CLASSES Open to American and English Cocker Spaniels REGULAR CONFORMATION CLASSES (divided by sex): JUNIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show SENIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 9 months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show 12 TO 18 MONTHS - Shall be for dogs 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the Specialty. CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada. (Champions of any country excluded) BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/co-owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs and shall be divided as follows: Open American Cocker Spaniel Black, ASCOB, Parti Open English Cocker Spaniel Solid, Parti VETERANS CLASS: Shall be for all dogs 7 years of age and over on the day of the Specialty. The winners of the Veteran Male and Female classes will NOT compete for Championship points but goes directly into the Best of Breed competition. SPAYED OR NEUTERED DOGS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR COMPETITION IN THIS CLASS SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a class dog to the Specials Only Class MUST be received by the Show Secretary ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE SHOW ON THE DAY CONCERNED. Listing Fees WILL NOT be refunded EXHIBITION ONLY - All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class MAY NOT COMPETE in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades ONLY NON-REGULAR CONFORMATION CLASSES: Note: Any dog entered in a Non-Regular class MUST also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only. STUD DOG & GET: This class shall be comprised of the stud dog and 2 or more of his get. Ownership in this class need not be identical. Stud must be entered in a Regular class or in Exhibition Only. Get must be entered in a Regular Class. Dogs entered in the Stud Dog and Get class may be spayed/neutered, and must be entered in a Regular class as outlined in these rules or for Exhibition Only. BROOD BITCH & PROGENY: This class shall have the same requirements as the Stud Dog and Get class. Dogs entered in the Brood Bitch and Progeny class may be spayed/neutered, and must be entered in a Regular class as outlined in these rules or for Exhibition Only. BRACE CLASS: Shall be for two dogs (not necessarily the same sex), (Note: effective January 1, 2006 identical ownership NO LONGER applies) www.compupets.com Dogs entered in NON-REGULAR/UNOFFICIAL CLASSES MUST be entered in a Regular/Official class or for Exhibition Only. PAYMENT OF FEES Entries may be paid by personal cheque, bank draft, money order, Visa or MasterCard. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL!!! All Cheques, bank drafts and money orders MUST BE MADE PAYABLE TO Compupets Internet Inc. All Visa and MasterCard will be processed through CompuPets Internet Inc.. Tendering of NSF cheques/credit is considered non-payment and is punishable by CKC disciplinary action. Charges for any NSF Cheques or Declined Visa & MasterCard issued for entry fees will be $25.00. No post-dated cheques will be accepted. Telephone entries (excluding faxed entries) are prohibited. OVERPAYMENT of entry fees WILL NOT be refunded. To comply with CKC, no entries will be accepted, altered, cancelled, or substituted after the official closing date and time for entries (except as provided for in Chapter 13, Section 13.4 of the Dog Show Rules). BORDER CROSSING A Rabies Certificate is required to bring a dog into Canada, Government Regulations require a Certificate prior to entry into Canada. Event Registration Number (ERN) Notice All dogs that are foreign born and owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC events will require an ERN. An ERN must be obtained within 30 days of obtaining points, awards or scores to avoid cancellation. If factors beyond your control prohibit this or present a problem, please send a written request for a 30 day extension to the CKC. All dogs must also be entered in an OFFICIAL CLASS or for EXHIBITION ONLY at the SPECIALTY SHOW on October 6, 2012. TROPHY PLEDGE SHEET The BC Cocker Spaniel Club with your support, is preparing a Trophy table for the Specialty. We invite your individual donations of money for specific Class Trophies. The Trophy Committee will select a co-ordinated theme for all Trophies on the basis of donations received. All donors will be listed in the catalogue. A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5), and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder. SECTION #2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows; DOGS COMPETING* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more POINTS AWARDED 0 1 2 3 4 5 *includes the dog awarded Winners To determine the number of points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all dogs in competition which were defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A class dog awarded Best in Show at an allbreed Championship show will be credited with 5 points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, shall be included in the calculation for championship points (Absentees are not to be included). In order for a dog to be recognized as a Canadian Champion it must: (1) earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; (2) a two point win awarded either at the breed or group level; and (3) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have a CKC Event Registration Number (ERN) EXTRACTS FROM THE CONFORMATION SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS JUDGES SECTION 4.1.3 A judge officiating at a show held under these rules shall not be subjected to any indignities of any kind during the progress of the show. It shall be the duty and obligation of the club holding the show to see this rule is effectively carried out. SHOW OFFICIALS SECTION 5.1.5 A show-giving club will be held responsible during the show for the conduct of exhibitors and spectators. Any person acting in an abusive or objectionable manner must be removed from the show on complaint to the Show Superintendent. ENTRY FORMS SECTION 8.2.3 Entry forms received by the CKC, which are incomplete and/or contain incorrect information may result in awards being cancelled. ENTRY FORMS SECTION 8.2.5 An error in an age-specified class, the class, date of birth or sex may be amended on the entry form up to one hour before the start of the show. ENTRIES - SECTION 8.3.1 Every dog entered in a conformation show must be one of the following: a. registered with the CKC b. have an Event Registration Number c. eligible for registration with the CKC, or d. if it belongs to a listed breed, it must have a Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) REFUSAL OF ENTRIES SECTION 8.6.2 A Club may refuse any entry form from an exhibitor known to have tendered a dishonoured cheque or declined credit card unless entries are accompanied by cash, money order or certified cheque. DISQUALIFICATIONS SECTION 14.1.4 Once a dog has been disqualified for any reason at a conformation show, it may not be entered or shown at another show until the dog has been reinstated by the CKC. All awards earned by the dog shown in violation of this section will be cancelled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action.

RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS 1. THE CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY PERSON FROM THE SHOW. THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT SHALL HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS, WHICH WILL BE GOVERNED BY CKC RULES. 2. ANY DOG EXCUSED BY THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT OR VETERINARIAN FOR ANY REASON SHALL NOT, COMPETE IN ANY CLASS FOR ANY AWARDS FOR THE BALANCE OF THE SHOW. 3. THE SHOW COMMITTEE WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF DOGS AND EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, OR ASSUME ANY LIABILITY IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT OR MISFORTUNE TO EITHER DOGS, EXHIBITORS, SPECTATORS OR VENDORS. 4. DOGS MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE JUDGING OF THEIR BREED. 5. THE OWNER OF A DOG ENTERED IN THESE SHOWS IS ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ERROR IN ENTERING HIS/HER DOG REGARDLESS OF HOW OR BY WHOM THE ENTRY WAS MADE. 6. EXHIBITORS AND HANDLERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DOGS AND EQUIPMENT LEFT AT THE SHOW GROUNDS. 7. DOGS ARE TO BE EXERCISED IN DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY, NOT IN VICINITY OF SHOW RINGS 8. ALL RECREATIONAL UNITS WILL HAVE BUCKETS UNDERNEATH FOR THEIR SINK DRAINS. ANYONE FOUND DISCHARGING WATER ON THE GROUNDS WILL BE REMOVED BY ORDER OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO A FINE. 9. IF, BECAUSE OF CIVIL DISTURBANCE OR OTHER ACTS BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE CLUB, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN OR COMPLETE THE SHOW, THERE IS NO REFUND OF ENTRY. 10.
