Ouachita Mountain Second Annual Poultry Show Hosted by Polk County Fair Assoc. April 21, 2012 at Polk County Fairgrounds Welcome to our 2nd Annual Ouachita Mountain Poultry Show. Polk County Fair Association is hosting this event as a fundraiser to raise the needed funds to make repairs and improvements to the Poultry and Rabbit Barn at the Polk County Fairgrounds. We hope that you will join us in helping to make our poultry barn better for future events held in this barn. Please get your entry mailed as soon as possible because we have a limit of 600 birds. This is a APA/ABA Sanctioned Show. Entry Deadline is April 7th, 2012. Poultry Barn opens: Friday, 20th from 5:00 PM 9:00 PM Saturday, 21st at 7:00 AM All chickens must be in place by 9:00 AM on Saturday. Judges: Open-Steve Jones, JR-Jacob Bates. Judging begins at 9:00AM. Lunch Break at Noon to 1:00 PM. Drawing and Silent Auction at 1:00 PM (must be present to win). JR Showmanship time to be announced at show. Ouachita Mountain 2nd Annual Poultry Show 2012 Official Rules: Large Chickens: American, Asiatic, English, Mediterranean, Continental and All Other Standard Breeds (AOSB). Bantam Chickens: Modern Game, Old English Game (OEGB), Single Comb Clean Legged (other than Game)(SCCL), Rose Comb Clean Legged (RCCL), Feather Legged, and All Other Combs Clean Legged (AOCCL). Ducks: Heavy, Medium, Light, and Bantam Special Show Rules 1. ALL BIRDS MUST POSSESS A NUMBERED LEG BAND (INCLUDING NIP FLOCKS) AND THIS BAND NUMBER SHOULD BE LISTED ON THE ENTRY FORM. ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT BAND NUMBERS ON ENTRY FORM. This Leg band number should also be written on outside of tag attached to the coop. 2. Entry Deadline: postmarked by April 7, 2012. Any entries after April 7th will be charged a late fee of $10.00. On late entries, contact Roy Snider to verify that entries have not been closed prior to mailing. 3. All Exhibitors must list on their entry forms the breed name and variety (color). 4. No bird can be entered in both Open and JR show. 5. A Single sized coop provided for each bird entered unless noted as double coop on entry form. 6. NO SUBSTITUTIONS will be made on the day of the show. Entries will be judged as entered. 7. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding and watering their own birds at the show. 8. Junior Showmanship Entries are limited to ages 6 to 18 years. Exhibitor must use a bird during showmanship that has been entered in this poultry show. 9. This department will be conducted under the rules of the American Poultry Association. Birds will be judged by comparison method according the American Standard of Perfection latest edition. Instructions to Judges, For Economic Qualities of Standard-Bred Fowls. All poultry breeds are eligible to show in this show. If you are unsure which group to enter your bird(s) in, contact Roy Snider or Tina Lehmann. 10. Judges are instructed to recognize those characteristics of body shape that are typical of a useful and productive fowl and give full consideration to those fundamental qualities of body type that are necessary to maintain vigor, usefulness and productiveness at the highest point consistent with true breed type. 11. All poultry shall have originated from a US Pollorum clean flock or have had a negative Pullorum test within ninety (90) days of entry. See Health Regulations under General Rules in Livestock Exhibitor Handbook for all other Livestock & Health Regulations. In the case that any birds exhibits signs of disease, parasites or sickness, the show officials have the right to remove the bird(s) from the premises. 12. All poultry must have been owned by the exhibitor for at least the last 30 days or longer to be entered in this show. 13. Open and JR Entries are for Exhibition birds only (those that meet the standard). 14. Any complaints regarding judging results must be presented in writing along with $25.00 and will be handled according to the APA and ABA regulations. 15. No one is allowed in the isles while judging is in progress except for the judge, clerk and show officials. 16. No one is allowed to handle another persons birds without the consent of the owner (excluding the judge and show officials). 17. Polk County Fair Association and Show Officials do not insure exhibits but will take every precaution to prevent accidents and injury. 18. All birds not claimed by 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 21st will be removed at the discretion of management. 19. NPIP testing is $2.00 per bird locally through Tina Lehmann or Roy Snider. Birds need to be tested prior to the show. Call for an appointment to meet in Mena for testing of your bird(s).
EXHIBITION HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR POULTRY OUT-OF-STATE POULTRY 1. All poultry, which includes game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, turkeys, and waterfowl shall have originated from a US Pullorum clean flock or have had a negative pullorum test within ninety (90) days of entry. All turkeys shall also have originated from a US MG clean flock or have had a negative MG test within thirty (30) days of entry. All the preceding information must be documented on a valid certificate of veterinary inspection, NPIP flock certification form or similar certificate. These forms must indicate that the flocks from which the eggs or chicks originated have been tested for pullorum disease and were free of reactors; or, any eggs or chicks or poults produced under the supervision of the National Poultry Improvement Plan will be deemed to have met with the requirements of these regulations, provided all of the requirements of NPIP are complied with and applicable NPIP forms accompany birds. All noncertified poultry must be individually identified, either by a permanent leg or wing band or tattoo. Wraparound plastic bands are not acceptable except on NPIP Certified flocks. NPIP certified flocks of turkeys, chickens, and domesticated fowl entering on a VS 9-3 or NPIP flock certification form or similar certificate are exempt from the requirement of a certificate of veterinary inspection unless a state of emergency has been declared. ARKANSAS POULTRY An official representing the exhibition shall notify the state veterinarian no later than thirty (30) days prior to the exhibition, giving names, place, inclusive dates, and time of the event. The requirements are as follows: 1. All in-state poultry, which includes domesticated game birds, quail, pheasants, peafowl, guineas, and turkeys, present at exhibition in Arkansas shall have originated from U. S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean or equivalent flocks or have had a negative pullorum-typhoid test within ninety (90) days of the movement to the exhibition (pullorum-typhoid testing on fairgrounds during the fair is prohibited.) This information will be documented on a NPIP Form VS 9-3, 90-Day Certificate, NPIP Flock Certification Form or similar certificate that will accompany the poultry during exhibition. 2. All non-certified birds must be banded (leg or wing band), with a sealed band. Wraparound plastic bands are not acceptable except on Certified flocks. In-state waterfowl are exempt from pullorum-typhoid requirements. 3. Any poultry showing evidence of infectious or contagious disease or insect infestation will not be permitted to exhibit. 4. Record Keeping - The sponsor of the exhibition shall compile a list of all poultry present at exhibition. This list shall contain the name and address of each owner, the number, the species, breed, variety, type, sex, and pullorum-typhoid status of all poultry present. A copy of this shall be retained by the sponsor of the exhibition for at least twelve (12) months. NOTE: ALL Entries must be accompanied by A Copy of your NPIP Flock Certificate or, a copy of your 9-2 Test Certificate.
