Class Descriptions USDAA Grand Prix of Dog Agility SM Local Qualifier: This single-round tournament is open to all dogs regardless of title or skill level. The course includes an A-frame, dog walk or cross-over, see-saw, pipe tunnel, collapsed tunnel, weave poles, tire jump and a variety of other jumps and hurdles. Scoring follows regulations for standard scoring under Masters rules, except that time standards may generally range from 3.50 to 3.75 yps for dogs competing in the 22 and 26 height classes; from 2.85 to 3.00 yps in the 12 height class; and from 3.00 to 3.20 yps for dogs competing in the 16 height class. Dogs that earn ten or fewer faults (combined course and time penalties) shall qualify to enter one of the Regional Championship events or the quarterfinals to be held later in 2002. A complete copy of the 2002 tournament rules, which are hereby incorporated by reference, will be posted at the event, or may be obtained directly from USDAA upon written request. Championship Dog Agility Program (formerly, Regular Classes): The Championship Program classes are for dogs not entered in the Performance Program at this event. Classes include standard agility, gamblers, jumpers, pairs relay and snooker agility as set forth in USDAA rules and regulations, each of which are conducted at three competitive levels, as listed below: The Starter/Novice level classes shall be for any dog that has not earned the Agility Dog title. When offered separately as Starters and Novice classes, the starters level classes are for any dog that has also not earned a title in the Performance Program, or any dog handled by a person who has not previously earned the Agility Dog title or a title in the Veterans or Performance Program with any dog. The Advanced level classes shall be for any dog that has earned the Agility Dog title and has not earned the Advanced Agility Dog title. The Masters level classes shall be for any dog that has earned the Advanced Agility Dog title. Additionally, any dog that has received two qualifying scores in one Advanced level nonstandard agility class (i.e., snooker, jumpers, gamblers or pairs relay), with scores being earned from 2 different judges (and with 2 different partners in pairs relay), shall be eligible for entry into the same Masters level nonstandard class without having earned the Advanced Agility Dog title. Performance Program Classes: Performance Program classes are open to dogs not entered in the Championship Dog Agility Program at the agility test. Classes include standard performance, gamblers performance, jumpers performance and snooker performance classes as defined in USDAA rules & regulations. Generally Performance Level I, Level II and Level III are run on courses used for Starters, Advanced and Masters classes in the Championship Program, with the following exceptions: the A-frame is set at 5'6", jump heights are one height class lower as set forth in Notes to Exhibitors, no spread hurdles are utilized and time standards in the standard and jumpers classes are extended by 3 seconds beyond that utilized in the Championship Program. Eligibility for entry is determined as follows: The Performance I classes shall be for any dog that has not earned the Performance Dog I SM title. The Performance II classes shall be for any dog that has earned the Performance Dog I SM title, the Agility Dog SM, or the Veteran Agility Dog SM title, but has not earned the Performance Dog II SM title. The Performance III classes shall be for any dog that has earned the Performance Dog II SM title, the Advanced Agility Dog title, or the Veteran Advanced Agility Dog SM title. Additionally, any dog that has received, from 2 different judges, either 2 qualifying scores in Level II nonstandard classes, 2 qualifying scores in Advanced level nonstandard classes, or 2 qualifying scores in Veterans level nonstandard classes shall be eligible for entry into the same Level III nonstandard class without having earned the Performance Dog III SM title. Non-Standard Class Descriptions Gamblers consists of a course with no pre-determined route where each obstacle is assigned a point value. In the opening period the handler seeks to accumulate points by performing the obstacles of his/her choice in the time allotted. At the conclusion of the opening the handler attempts the gamble, a sequence designated by the judge to be handled from a distance, for additional points. This non-standard class is pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.1 and Section 6.5 of USDAA Rules and Regulations. Jumpers consists of a course of jumps and may include a tire and tunnels. This non-standard class is scored pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.1 and Section 6.5 through 6.6 of USDAA Rules and Regulations. Snooker has an opening sequence of point collection similar to Gamblers followed by a closing sequence of a set pattern. It roughly parallels the billiards game of Snooker, requiring the dog to successfully complete a "red" jump prior to attempting an obstacle designated as any other color. Pairs Relay consists of a standard course with one dog and handler running a portion of the course, followed by a baton exchange to a second handler and dog who run the second portion of the course. This nonstandard class is scored pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.1 and Section 6.5 through 6.6 of USDAA Rules and Regulations. Performance Pairs Relay will be run identically to its Championship counterpart with the exception of using the Performance jump heights, A- frame height, and 3-second time extension. It is offered strictly for fun and is not eligible for titling.
