These trays are not a very common shape to find, it is very rare to find them with there handle intact. All of the examples of this shape that I have seen seem to date from the 1930's onwards (or course as soon as I say this is the rule some swine is going to prove me a liar). Chop Plate Tony Weller D.6327; 34 cm (13.5 ) diameter Chop dishes are thought of as a child of the 1950 s, but they seem to have gone into production in the late 1930's or very early 1940's and they do not have hanging holes in the rim. Doulton also manufactured a Wall Plaque or Charger, these come in 2 sizes 34.5 cm (13.5") and 39.5 cm (15.5"). Chargers differ from chop dishes that are of slightly lighter construction and that they have 3 holes in the rim for threading a wire for hanging. Charger or Wall Plaque Mr Micawber 13.5" Charger; D5175; dated July 1938 34 cm (13.5") diameter Salesmans Disc6.8 cm (2.75") diameter It is believed these small convex discs with a hole where salesman samples, they are rare.
