What is a snake? A snake is a scaly animal that slithers across grass or dirt. The snake eats rat s mice and birds. A snake doesn t only have one lung, but it has two, the right and the left. Snakes predators can be many things, but some don t even have predators. The snake s poison helps it gets through a large snake, or a big animal. The snake s shelter can be in many places including the ocean and A snake near some rocks by the ocean

the rocks. It takes a snake about 6 months to have eggs. When a baby hatches the mom and dad have to give the snake food, shelter, and keep them from danger. When a baby snake is at least 6 months old the snake goes out into the wilderness. Scientists think that they go out by their selves is that they have enough poison in there fangs that they can stay away from danger. If another snake comes towards it, then the snake will use its poison to defend its self from the predator. When a snake is used to the jungle, it starts to shed its skin so it can find shelter. Black mamba in the desert

a copper snake in the jungle sleeping The snake has a dry body that is very scaly and dry. Snakes have lots of body parts that humans don t have. That s why you can t slither. Scientists for years have been testing snakes see if there poisonous. The only way they know if their poisonous you see if they have bright colors. The snake s scales help the snake go on concrete or dirt. Some snakes tumble when they go on sand, but some snakes throw their body weight to go faster on the sand. A snake has to reach water sometime in the day or else its body will dry out. When a snake is in danger it will use parts of its body to get away. The snake uses its scales to jump to a nearby rock or dirt to Slimy snakes Did you know that a snake has lived for 50 years in the baking 143 degrees desert? A rattle snake in a backyard garden get shelter. When a snake sees a predator will sometimes play dead. If a bear were attacking it wouldn t eat it because bears don t eat dead food. A snakes jaw is the only way that snakes can eject poison because without it would have a hard time opening and closing its mouth and eyes. to

Deadly bite A snake s poison can be highly deadly, but most snakes don t even have it, such as the mill snake and the garter snake. Before a snake strikes, it will probably try to make the predator scared, for example the cobra spreads out its neck to look bigger. The rattlesnake rattles its tail to sound as a large and animal. If that doesn t work then it goes for the attack. The snake doesn t eject poison then, it has to suffocate before the poison. The Texan copperhead in Houston is A snake in the desert hiding from predators Scary snakes Some snakes when there born have twice as many babies as there mom. as pets. But don t be tricked! The people in Texas sometimes get bit! The Asian anaconda does not bite but swallows it and digests it. The copperhead is a poisonous snake because it s a snake that has poison that can come from its food, diseases, or was just born with it. kept

Living meat eater s predators are very unlikely to the average snake but hawks, lions and coyotes can even be predators. The snake sometimes tries to get away but sadly the snake can t get away fast enough. When a snake is hunting for food it mostly always looks for dry places such as Vicious Venom The Tappan is the most dangerous snake in the world because of its speed and trickiness. the desert. But dry places have lots of predators even the turtle a rat and even another snake can be a predator. A snake could possibly be a predator such as the Figure 1a copper head is ready to defend its self from it predator

coral snake and the boa constructor.in Antarctica some penguins come up to Argentina and eat lots of snakes so the snakes in Argentina can be endangered. Luckily, the snake population is growing in New Zealand and china. People think the snakes are moving to the Asian and Australian populations because of the penguins in Argentina. Snakes are going endangered around the world but are growing in the southern area. the garter snake is trying to blend in to its surroundings

Shelter safety The habitat of a snake can be anywhere in the world, including the New Zealand islands. Snakes habitats can be in sand water and dirt. Some snakes even dig holes in the ground for protection from the sun. Some snakes are nocturnal so they have a hard time finding a home in the Baaaaaad move! day when Anacondas are so big that all the they eat giant goats! animals are out. The rattlesnake lives in the desert and sleeps on the sand or rocks. The sea snake feasts on fish and crab. It The coral snake is trying to play dead

either sleeps on the ground or finds a hole and attack what s inside it before moving into its new home. Any kind of snake s shelter has to be comfortable or else it could die. Heavy snakes The average snake in weight weighs about two pounds. The smallest snake weighs 1ounce and can be smaller than a penny. Some snakes such as the rock python can weigh up to 300 pounds! If a snake would not eat for a week then it would most likely way up to only 100 pounds! When a an anaconda is rolling around a rock A snake is moving along a tree trunk snake eats food it gets larger so it weighs more. If a snake doesn t eat then it will grow, except that it will get thinner and thinner the more Tricked! it doesn t eat. The The worm snake is so small that its predators are worms!

snake s weight has no average because snakes can get smaller and bigger so no snake is an average. The anaconda is one of the heaviest snakes on earth because it eats buffalo, deer, and gazelle. A snake is a very tricky animal for scientists to weigh because so many snakes have fangs and poison. The anaconda is easy to weigh because they only swallow their food, not poison it. Figure 2a copperhead is ready to find a new home
