JUVENILE SWEEPSTAKES Judge: Kathy Saville To compete in Juvenile Sweepstakes, dogs must also be entered in a Regular conformation class. Entry in Juvenile Sweepstakes from Exhibition Only is NOT allowed. Classes (divided by sex) will be as follows: Over 3 months & under 6 months Over 6 months & under 9 months Over 9 months & under 12 months Over 12 months & under 15 months Over 15 months & under 18 months The Mid-Western Branch of IWCC will retain 25% of each entry for administration. The remaining 75% of the total entry fees will be divided as follows: Best in Sweepstakes Rosette, Trophy & 25% of entry fees Best Opposite in Sweepstakes Rosette, Trophy & 20% of entry fees 1 st in each Class Rosette & 5% of remaining entry fees 2 nd to 4 th in each Class Rosette GENERAL INFORMATION Dog Show Rule Books and Obedience Trial Regulations are available from the Canadian Kennel Club. In Canada call toll free 1-800-250-8040, in the United States call 1-416-675-5511. The Show Superintendent will be in full charge of the show which will be governed by CKC Rules. Entries will be acknowledged after close of entries with receipt and judging schedule. This Show will be open from 7:00 AM until completion of judging. Dogs must be on the show grounds one hour before the judging of their class. Judging will not commence before 8:00 AM. Owners or agents are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring. The starting time for each ring will be specified in the Judging Schedule. PLEASE NOTE: You are responsible for cleaning up if your dog relieves itself. The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of an accident, or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors, patrons, or property. EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: (Chapter 4, Section 4.1.3 of CKC Dog Show Rules) A judge officiating at a show held under these rules shall not be subjected to indignities of any kind during the progress of the show. It shall be the duty and obligation of the club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out. Entry fees will be refunded when a bitch entered in Obedience comes into season, after the entry of the bitch has been submitted, if a Veterinarian certificate (certifying that the bitch was in season within the ten day period preceding the trial) to the Show Secretary on or before the date of the trial. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded after the closing date. Nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. If because of riot, civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the EKKOC it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fees will be made. Dogs and children must be kept under control as a courtesy to fellow exhibitors and spectators. Attention Foreign Exhibitors! Effective Jan/1992 all dogs that are foreign-born and foreign-owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) events will no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an ERN- Event Registration Number. This ERN does not register a dog with CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act but rather enables a foreign-owned dog to be awarded titles by the Canadian Kennel Club. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog s registration certificate with certified cheque, money order, VISA or MasterCard number (expiry date, cardholder s name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of the ERN to you. Cost is $55.85. ERN must be applied for within 30 days of first day of entering a CKC EVENT. A CKC ERN registration form can be downloaded from the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca CKC FAX # 416.675.6506 EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE Listing fees are required for any dog without an individual CKC/ERN Registration number. The owner(s) must then submit an application for registration to the CKC within thirty (30) days. Failure to comply with these rulings will automatically cancel all points on record. Please use the official entry form enclosed. Cheques post-dated to closing date WILL be accepted. Any NSF cheques will be assessed a $25 service charge. Tendering a dishonoured cheque or declined credit card in payment of an entry fee shall be considered non-payment of said fee and is an offense punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards (Chapter 8.8.2 CKC Dog Show Rules). No entry will be accepted without payment in full. There will be no refunds on duplicate entries or overpayments. The owner of the dog entered in this show is entirely responsible for any error in the entering of their dog, regardless of how, or by whom the entry was made. Withdrawal of entries prior to closing may be made by telephone, but MUST BE FOLLOWED UP IN WRITING, and be received by the Show Secretary no later than the official closing. If written, or electronic notification is not received, the dog will remain entered in the show. In the event of a postal strike: Telephone entries may be made in accordance with the CKC Dog Show Rules. 1.877.203.0363 (collect calls will not be accepted). All phoned entries must be signed and entry fees paid in cash, money-order, or certified cheque before the dog may enter the ring. No refunds after closing date. To comply with instructions issued by the CKC, we will be unable to accept any entry reaching our Show Secretary after the closing time and date. Please allow ample time for delays in mail. Information for US Exhibitors on entering Canada - To enter Canada from the States, US Citizens must show proof of identity; to enter back into the United States, all US Citizens age 16 or older must have a Passport or Approved Secure Travel Document - Please be aware that all dogs must have a valid rabies certificate to cross the border. A valid rabies vaccination that has been given at least 30 days prior to entry into Canada is required to bring a dog into this country. Government regulations require a rabies vaccination certificate be provided for each dog. NOTE: Dogs less than three months of age do not require rabies vaccination. EXTRACTS FROM THE DOG SHOW RULES BREEDS, CLASSES, AWARDS AND STAKES 12.2.1 REGULAR OFFICIAL CLASSES: All of these classes must be divided by sex. Note: no dogs under the age of six months on the first day of the show shall be allowed within the Show precincts as defined in the Premium List. Every dog within these precincts (exceptions are IN TRANSIT AREA) must be entered in one of the Regular Official Classes or in Exhibition Only. BABY PUPPY: shall be for dogs 3 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the show. These puppies are not eligible to compete for championship points. JUNIOR PUPPY: shall be for dogs at least six months of age on the first day of the Show and under nine months of age on the day of the show. SENIOR PUPPY: shall be for dogs 9 months of age and under twelve (12) months of age on the day of the show. 12-15 MONTHS - for dogs over 12 months of age but under 15 months of age. 15-18 MONTHS - for dogs over 15 months of age but under 18 months of age. CANADIAN BRED: shall be for dogs born in Canada, Champions of any country excluded BRED BY EXHIBITOR: shall be for dogs owned and handled in the ring by the Breeder. The handler must be the owner/co-owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog in this class, but need not handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS: shall be for all dogs. VETERANS CLASS: for all dogs over 7 years of age on day of show. These dogs to compete for regular placements and the winner of this class will go on to compete for BEST OF BREED (they do not compete for Winners). Dogs in this class may be spayed/neutered. SPECIALS ONLY: is for dogs which have a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and have attained the required points for Championship status including at least one 2 point win either at the breed or group level. Should a dog which is entered in this class be found either not to be registered or has not completed the requirements for Championship status, all awards earned at the show will be cancelled. Dogs entered in this class will compete for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy if eligible. EXHIBITION ONLY: dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades if provided for in this premium list. EXHIBITION ONLY (3-6 MONTHS): puppies 3-6 months of age may be entered in Exhibition Only 3-6 Months provided the owner(s) has entered a dog in a Regular Official Class. These Puppies may not participate in any regular, non-regular or unofficial classes or Parades MOVING DOGS TO SPECIALS ONLY : A dog which is individually registered in the records of the CKC and has completed the requirements for a Championship in accordance with these rules but at the time of the closing of entries for a show has not received confirmation of the title, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is submitted to the Show Secretary in writing by the owner or handler at least 1 hour prior to the opening of the show. NOTE: Class dogs may be moved to Specials Only as long as the registration number is on the Move Up Sheet. SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASSES: Eligibility for the Altered Dog Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age which have been sexually altered by veterinary procedure. Points MAY NOT be carried from the regular competition judging to the Altered Dog Class judging. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male & Altered Female Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes, the first place winner from each class will be declared Winners and the second place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in Breed.

CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the number of championship points credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: Dogs Competing* 1 2 3-5 6-9 10-12 13 or more Points Allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 *Includes the dog awarded Winners In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall NOT be included in the calculation for points. If a dog awarded WINNERS is also awarded BEST OF BREED at the show, then all dogs competing in the breed, including Specials Only, shall be included in the total. If a dog awarded WINNERS is also awarded BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX to Best of Breed, then all dogs of the same sex including those competing for Specials Only shall be included in the total. If a dog is awarded WINNERS is also awarded BEST OF WINNERS, then all dogs defeated directly or indirectly in the breed shall be included in the total. If a dog is awarded WINNERS only, then all the dogs of the same sex in the class competition shall be included the total. The number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be determined by the highest award earned and calculated as per Section 15.1. In addition to championship points allocated at the breed level, a dog awarded WINNERS, which also places in the regular Group competition, shall be credited with the following additional points provided that a dog was defeated at the Group level. In no case can a dog earn more than five points at a single show. SECTION 15.1.12 In or for a dog to be recognized as a Champion, and its owner provided with a Championship Certificate, a dog must: (a) earn 10 championship points under at least 3 different judges; and (b) be registered in the records of the CKC, have an ERN or MCN (c) have earned a least one 2 point win either at the breed or group level.
