BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered in this competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners' records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners' records. JUDGES AWARD OF MERIT The Club offers an Award of Merit to deserving Irish W olfhounds for recognition of their quality. It is entirely at the judge's decision whether to give all or none of the available Awards. Award of Merits are selected from the Irish W olfhounds in the Best of Breed Competition, other than the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex Best of Winners, Select Dog and Select Bitch. (AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGE UP TO 3 AWARDS OF MERIT MAY BE AWARDED) NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: As the judge s decision in the Non-Regular Classes involving Multiple Dog Entries is based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won these classes. *Stud Dog Class - For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The award will be based on the merits of the get. The owner of the stud dog need not be the owner of the get. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the regular classes, or if a Champion of Record, in Best of Breed Competition, but MUST be entered in the Stud Dog Class. The Stud Dog must appear in the ring with his get. *Brood Bitch Class Same as for the Stud Dog Class, except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. *Chapter 11, Section 8 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class. Brace Class - A brace is defined as two dogs of the same recognized breed that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs com peting in brace com petition must have at least one common owner. T he entry form for each dog entered as part of a brace MUST be m arked accordingly in the space for Additional Classes - Brace Class. Team Class - A team is defined as four dogs of the same recognized breed that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of four handlers. All dogs com peting in team com petition must have at least one common owner. The entry form for each dog entered as part of a team MUST be marked accordingly in the space for Additional Classes - Team Class. Generations Class - Composed of three or more dogs and/or bitches, each of whom is the get of the previous one. The oldest dog or bitch is entered and the other dogs represent their subsequent generations. Dogs do not have to have the same owner. Only one entry fee is paid. All claims for trophies and other prizes must be made in the judging ring before the completion of the judging of the breed, and the Event Secretary advised at once in the event of any discrepancy. No award will be mailed. If a trophy listed is unavailable, a trophy of equal or greater value will be awarded. CHALLENGE TROPHIES The Northern California Irish W olfhound Club offers the following Challenge Trophies. Open to all, for competition at its Specialty Shows only. For permanent possession to be won three times by the same owner or breeder in case of the Veteran Dog & Bitch trophies, not necessarily with the same dog. Due to the delicate nature of these trophies, they will remain in the possession of the club after photographs have been taken with each winner. BEST OF BREED... PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES COMPETITION Eligibility: Sweepstakes is open to all Irish Wolfhounds who on the date of the show, shall be at least 6 months & under 18 months of age. Sweepstakes Classes will be judged prior to the Regular Breed Classes. All dogs entered must be entered in one of the regular classes at the regular entry fee, and on the regular entry form. Junior & Senior Sweepstakes will be judged separately and there will be no competition between the two divisions.
