The Netherlands was the largest Intra-EU exporter of eggs in 2016, exporting 306,427,000kg UPDATE - Eggs contaminated with fipronil from Germany 08/Aug/2017 Following the HorizonScan highlights of the 2nd and 3rd of August regarding Fipronil being detected in eggs from The Netherlands, the issue continues to escalate and has become a global issue, turning into the world s largest recall of shelled eggs since 2010. Further details have emerged on how the contamination occurred and it appears fipronil was added to a cleaning agent and sanitizer used around the chickens. 180 poultry farms around the Netherlands have been closed with a further 59 having to add health warnings for children to their products. UPDATE - Eggs contaminated with fipronil continues to escalate Highlights concerning Meat and meat products (excluding poultry) 08/Aug/2017 One in five sausages from Canadian grocery Unlabelled meat in 1 stores were found to contain meat that does in 5 Canadian sausages not appear on labelling.
