REGULAR CLASSES The following CKC regular classes will be provided for both sexes: JUNIOR PUPPY - 6 months and under 9 months SENIOR PUPPY - 9 months and under 12 months 12-18 MONTH - 12 months and under 18 months (not a puppy class) Above Classes are based on age on the day of the Show. CANADIAN BRED Born in Canada, Champions of any Country excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR For Danes owned and handled in the ring by the breeder. The handler must be the owner/co-owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the Dane. The owner/breeder must handle the Dane in the Class but need not handle the Dane for a higher award. OPEN CLASS - Divided by colour ( indicate colour on Entry Form) Fawn Brindle Blue Black Harlequin Boston VETERANS Danes seven (7) years of age or over on the date of the Specialty. First place dog and bitch compete for Best of Breed but not for points. Danes entered in this class may be spayed or neutered. SPECIALS ONLY For all CKC registered Danes recognized as Champions in CKC records. The Specials class is not divided by sex. Select Dog and Select Bitch will be awarded after Best of Breed awards. The dog and bitch selected must be entered in Specials Only and cannot be the Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex winners. SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASS For Danes over 6 months of age which have been sexually altered (spayed or neutered) by veterinary procedure. Points awarded as per Chapter 13 of the Conformation Show Rules and Regulations. Males and females will be judged separately and winners will compete for Best Altered. NON-REGULAR CLASSES BABY PUPPY 3 months and under 6 months (on day of show) Listing fee is not required. STUD DOG Stud with get (minimum 2, maximum 3) BROOD BITCH Bitch with progeny (minimum 2, maximum 3) For Stud Dog and Brood Bitch the Danes comprising the entry do not need to be owned by the same owner. Progeny and Get must be entered in a Regular Class. EXHIBITION ONLY Danes may compete in Non-Regular Classes, Unofficial classes and/or Parades. Entries listed in catalogue. For a Baby Puppy to be entered in Exhibition Only the owner must have a Dane entered in a Regular Class. UNOFFICIAL CLASSES GENERATIONS (This class is dedicated to the memory of Betty Conod) Three Great Danes that are 3 successive generations of the same breeding (example mother, daughter, granddaughter). Identical ownership or breeders is not required. All Great Danes entered in a Non-Regular or Unofficial Class must be entered in one of the Regular Classes or in Exhibition Only. Spayed or neutered Danes may enter these classes. PARADES - Saturday September 10 only PARADE OF TITLE HOLDERS Great Dane having one or more Championship or Obedience Titles in any Country. PARADE OF VETERANS Great Dane at least seven (7) years of age on the day of the Show. Danes entered in a Parade must be entered in one of the Regular Classes listed previously or in Exhibition Only. Spayed or neutered Danes may enter the Parades. (Chapter 12.7 Conformation Show Rules and Regulations) AWARDS Through the generosity of members and friends of the Great Dane Club of Canada a PRIZE and ROSETTE will be offered for: WINNERS DOG WINNERS BITCH RESERVE Winners Dog RESERVE Winners Bitch BEST of WINNERS BEST BABY PUPPY BEST of BREED BEST of OPPOSITE SEX BEST PUPPY SELECT DOG SELECT BITCH BEST STUD DOG BEST BROOD BITCH BEST GENERATIONS PRIZES and/or ROSETTES for 1 st to 4 th in each Regular Class. For the Sexually Altered class a PRIZE and ROSETTE will be offered for BEST ALTERED and 1 st to 4 th in each class. A ROSETTE will be offered for each entrant in the Parades. The rosette will contain the Dane s name and titles. Please print the name and titles clearly on the entry form. AWARDS - MEMORIAL TROPHIES Memorial trophies will be awarded at the 52 nd National Specialty to the Great Dane winning the classes listed below. Winner s name will be engraved on a plaque on the Trophy, but the Trophy will remain in the possession of the Great Dane Club of Canada. No cover is provided in the event of inclement weather. Only Great Danes registered or eligible for registration with the CKC may be entered in the Trial. Entries are not limited. Day of Trial entries will be accepted provided they are made 1 hour before the start of the Trial. The following Official Classes will be offered: PRE-NOVICE NOVICE A, B and C INTERMEDIATE NOVICE OPEN A and B UTILITY A and B EXHIBTION ONLY PRE-NOVICE is for a Dane which has not earned the title PCD or CD NOVICE A and B are for a Dane which has not earned a CD title A person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a CDX title must enter Novice B. A Dane with any Obedience title may enter NOVICE C. NOVICE C is not eligible for High in Trial. OPEN A is for a Dane with a CD title but not a CDX title. OPEN B is for a Dane with a CDX title or higher. In NOVICE A and OPEN A only one Great Dane per owner may be exhibited in each class and must be handled in the ring by the owner or a member of his/her immediate family. No restriction on handler or number of entries in NOVICE B and C. Prizes & Rosettes awarded for 1 st to 4 th in each class (Qualifying Scores) Prize and Rosette will be awarded for High Qualifying Score in Trial. The following Unofficial Classes will be offered: GRADUATE NOVICE GRADUATE OPEN BRACE VETERANS GRADUATE NOVICE is for a Dane that has not earned a qualifying score toward a CDX title, but has obtained a CD title prior to closing date. GRADUATE OPEN is for a Dane that has not earned a qualifying score toward a UD title, but has obtained a CDX title prior to the closing date. BRACE is for 2 Danes that have earned a CD title or higher. Identical ownership is not required. VETERANS is for a Dane that has earned a CD title or higher and is 7 years old or older on the day of the trial.. Danes entered in an Unofficial Class must be entered in one of the Official Classes or in Exhibition Only. Prizes & Rosettes awarded for 1 st to 4 th in each class (Qualifying Scores). Great Danes in Obedience must wear a well-fitted plain buckle, martingale, slip or quick release collar. Slip collars of an appropriate single length of leather, fabric or chain with two rings, one at each end are acceptable. There shall be nothing hanging from the collar. BITCHES IN SEASON are not permitted to compete under CKC rules. Trial entry fees will be refunded if a bitch comes into season after closing date if a veterinarian s certificate certifying the bitch was in season within the 10 day period preceding the Trial is presented to the Trial Secretary before the Trial commences. The GDCC shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the CKC shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred. The SHOW SUPERINTENDENT will be in full charge of these events which will be governed by CKC rules. The PRECINCTS of the Shows and Trials will include the entire Hotel property. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. This fee only applies to dogs wholly owned by non-member residents of Canada. The fee does not apply to US exhibitors or dogs co-owned with a CKC member. Dogs in this category cannot be moved up. The Specialty Show is held outdoors. No cover is provided in the event of inclement weather. Bring your own chairs. 2. Dogs must be kept in crates or on leash at all times. A sheet of plastic is to be placed under crates in the room. Please make sure that your Danes do not disturb other guests at the Comfort Inn or the Holiday Inn. 3. YOU MUST CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR GREAT DANE. Any person not abiding by the above will risk expulsion from the Show grounds and refusal of future entries. GDCC will use care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for or assume any liability in the event of accident or misfortune to dogs, exhibitors or patrons. GDCC will not accept responsibility for damage to the Hotel or premises caused by exhibitors or their dogs. MOVING A DANE TO SPECIALS 8.4.4 of the Conformation Show Rules and Regulations When a CKC registration number for a listed dog is received after the closing date and prior to the date of the show, this number may be added to the entry and noted in the marked catalogue. Listing fees will not be refunded. This then allows a dog who completes the requirement for championship status to be moved up to Specials. 8.9.1 of the Conformation Show Rules and Regulations A dog that is registered in the records of the CKC or that has a Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN) and has completed the requirements for a championship in accordance with these rules but at the time of the closing of entries for show has not received confirmation of the title, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is submitted to the Show Secretary in writing by the owner or handler at least one hour prior to the opening of the show. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Chapter 15 of the Conformation Show Rules and Regulations 15.1.1 A dog awarded Winners at a conformation show shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5). The number of championship points credited to a dog awarded Winners shall be as provided hereunder. 15.1.2 The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points awarded Winners shall be as follows: * DOGS COMPETING 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13&more POINTS ALLOCATED 0 1 2 3 4 5 * Includes the dog awarded Winners In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall be included in the calculation for championship points. 15.1.3 If a dog awarded Winners is awarded Best of Breed at the show, then all dogs competing in the breed, including Specials Only, shall be included in the total. 15.1.4 If a dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, then all dogs of the same sex including those competing for Specials Only shall be included in the total. 15.1.5 If a dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Winners, then all dogs defeated directly or indirectly in the breed shall be included in the total. 15.1.6 If a dog is awarded Winners only, then all of the dogs of the same sex in the class competition shall be included in the total. 15.1.7 The number of championship points credited to a dog awarded Winners shall be determined by the highest award earned and calculated as per this section. Clarification: Example of directly or indirectly defeating: if the Winners Bitch is awarded Best of Opposite Sex but not Best of Winners, the Best of Winners male shall be deemed to have indirectly defeated the Specials Bitches, and is thus entitled to add them to the number of dogs and bitches defeated.
