CERTIFICATION The River King Newfoundland Club has been granted permission to hold these NCA Draft Tests by the Working Dog Committee of the Newfoundland Club of America. CLOSE OF ENTRIES Entries close at 5:00 PM on March 15, 2017. After that time entries cannot be accepted, canceled, altered or changed. Entries will be accepted by mail only. Entries from NCA members postmarked prior to February 15, 2017 will be returned; entries from non-nca members postmarked prior to February 25, 2017 will be returned. Checks should be made payable to RKNC and mailed with the entry form and a copy of AKC registration papers to Patricia M. Owens, 2400 Owens Lane, Brighton, IL 62012. ENTRY FEES Entry fee is $45 for a single or team entry each test. Entries are limited to 6 (DDX) & 12 (DD) each day. Post entries will not be allowed for this test. ENTRY INFORMATION Entries will only be accepted from NCA members postmarked February 15, 2017 or later, entries will only be accepted from non-nca members postmarked February 25, 2017 or later. Entries will be accepted by mail only. In anticipation of a full entry and early closing the slots available will be filled in the following manner: If the number of entries with the same date exceeds the number of available slots, a drawing will take place to fill the vacancies and determine the alternates for each test. All entries received after the entry limit is filled will be placed on an alternate list by order of those without titles in order of postmark, followed by requalifiers in order of postmark. If absentees or withdrawals occur prior to the start of the test, the test secretary will substitute entries from the alternate list. On March 15, 2017, all entries that have been received by that time with a February 15, 2017 postmark will be assigned to the available slots in each test. If the number of entries with February 15, 2017 postmarks exceeds available space, a drawing will take place to determine who get spaces and who is placed on the alternate list. If the number of entries with February 15, 2017 postmarks does not exceed the entry limits, the entries with February 15, 2017 postmarks will be assigned to the available spots. If the number of entries with February 15, 2017 postmarks exceeds the entry limits a drawing will be held to fill the remaining vacancies and determine the alternates. The process will continue until the test is filled. All additional entries received after the entries fill will be placed on an alternate list by order of postmarks. If an opening should occur after entries fill a drawing will take place from the entries with the earliest postmark to fill the vacancy and an alternate will be notified. All entrants will be sent notification of their position in the test by March 22, 2017. Entered dogs must be 18 months of age.

DOGS IN DESIGNATED TEST AREAS Unentered dogs, and those that are not being tested at the time are not permitted in the official Draft Test areas. As specified in the Draft Test Regulations, 90 minutes before the start of judging, handlers and dogs (except bitches in season) are allowed a 30 minute period to familiarize themselves with the test areas. They may not walk the Maneuvering or Distance Freight Haul courses after this period. Bitches in season will be allowed to compete after all other entries. They should be crated away from the other entries in an area designated by the test committee. Handlers of bitches in season should notify a member of the test committee upon arrival. NCA AGGRESSION POLICY Any dog, that in the opinion of the Event Committee, attacks a person or a dog at an NCA working event, resulting in an injury, and is believed by that Event Committee to present a hazard to persons or other dogs, shall be disqualified. When the dog is disqualified by the Event Committee pursuant to this section, a report shall be filed with the NCA Board. The disqualified dog may not again compete at any NCA working event, nor be on the grounds of an NCA working event unless and until, following application for reinstatement by the owner to the NCA Board, the owner receives official notification in writing from the NCA Board that the dog s eligibility has been reinstated. Entrants to the test may encounter wildlife, joggers, adults and children visiting the park and dog walkers. The Basic Control will be located on a flat grassy area near the Muensterman Pavilion, the heated center for the test. The maneuvering course will be on asphalt and grass using mainly existing gardens, trees and paths. The freight haul will begin and end at the Muensterman Pavilion with surfaces of asphalt, concrete, gravel, brick, wooden bridges and lots of grassy areas that traverse gentle slopes and moderate hilly areas, including part of a handicapped nature trail and the Oriental Garden. OBTAINING REGULATIONS This test will be judged under the rules of NCA Draft Test Regulations, revised November 2016, effective January 1, 2017, that will govern this test. It is the responsibility of the handler to obtain and know these rules. Advanced Draft Test rules effective January 1, 2015, revised January 1, 2017 can be found on the NCA website. GENERAL INFORMATION Each exhibitor is responsible for his or her own draft equipment and freight haul load. This newly approved advanced draft test will challenge even seasoned draft dogs. The course includes 11 advanced maneuvers that will demonstrate the control, training and intelligence of these talented Newfs. The weight exchange will be firewood logs.
