However this will be capped at three times a year. GM s Note A lot of people these days seem to have forgotten what Hash or Hashing is about. For those who do remember, great, and for those who don t it is all about having some exercise (but not a race) for the fit and unfit alike and lots of fun, interaction with others and basically to have a good time drunk or sober!! The members who turned up for Johnny (Pussyfoot) Lee s run did just that.
Unfortunately we hardly ever see Johnny due to his work commitments but he has been a long time member and a good supporter of the Harriets for many years. As his usual stand in, Take Care, took over the run setting, food arrangements and later on icing too, it is good to know that our members help each other out in time of need without a second thought. Not everyone can set a run due to circumstances but with the help of others they take their turn when it comes around which, with current number of members, is around every 75 weeks! Take Care announced a medium run and being at the back as usual I was able to take my time however Jamie and Norjan were even slower than me!!! They assured Beauty Queen and I that if they got tired they would turn back and so on we went. Shouts of Ubah and Ini Kali announced the arrival of Sai Seng and Wind behind us. The trail took us on the usual ups, downs and more downs!! It suddenly dawned on us that an hour had already passed and we were nowhere near the On Down yet. Making a calculated decision we went up as the paper went down once more. Drenched in sweat we climbed the hill and stumbled on paper but from another Chapter. Avoiding the mines of wild boar playgrounds we reached the hash highway and headed home relieved with our earlier decision. At the run site the fitter ones had been back for some time however I noticed that Bibi Tulips, who had gone in earlier, had still not yet returned. Slowly all trickled in over the next hour. All except that is Jamie and Norjan! Lucas received a call and he and Silentman got ready to go to the rescue. While waiting, the food was served and some members left. Since it was David s @ Cycling King, 60th birthday that day and Christine See s birthday too, the birthday cake was brought out and the Happy Birthday song rendered in different languages to the two of them. Later we remembered it was Lily s birthday the following day and we gave her a song too! Hope you all had good birthdays. Around 10.00pm Lucas, Silentman and a very tired Jamie and Norjan returned. They had followed paper and sort of got lost but were now very happy to be back. Members who had stayed were enjoying the beer and Alexis s delicious congee she had graciously brought whilst Norjan recounted to me how tired she was in the hills and would gladly have stayed there until morning!! We had a very brief icing when we thanked Johnny Lee s stand in Take Care for organizing the evening and he reminded us that next week it is HIS run at the same venue. Mini Sausage then iced the GM and Akz Hole as a welcome return after their European vacation. A crate of free beer was given out (I believe from Christine and David) and hence we thank them for that. It was a lovely evening and we had over 50% of the membership (43 members) in attendance which is always good to see. Hope to see more of you next Thursday.

On 7th September the Ipoh Harriets are celebrating their 45th Anniversary. Penang Harriets have a great respect for them as they were the first to come and help us set up our own Club 41 years ago. In recognition of this and to support them it would be great if many of us could attend. Perhaps we could even hire a bus if there were enough of us. Please let Beauty Queen know if you would like to go!
