Join Us! Everyone is welcome! The Lost Coast H O W L E R August 2012 Editor: Tina Moulton www.lostcoastkennelclub.org www.facebook.com/lostcoastkennelclub President s Corner First, another big Thank You to all who helped at the agility trials. And a special thanks to Beverly and her assistant Irene. We have had several folks join (and rejoin) the club in the last few months. I want to extend a warm welcome to the following: Don and Beverly Zeman who live in Trinidad with their Puli and Spanish Water Dog; Emily and John Dalton from Eureka who have Boxers and Pugs; Marlene Jurkovich who lives in Bayside with her Standard Poodles and a mixed breed; Susan Dean who lives in Arcata with two Spinoni Italiano; and Pat Johnson who lives in Eureka with her Golden Retrievers. I also want to extend a big thank you to the new members. Every one of them helped at the agility trials! Well, if you missed Woofstock, you missed a good time. Susan Dean won the costume contest with her Spinone, Rocket. We had lots of help in the booth and had a great time just chit-chatting. Thank you to Rose who brought Dugan and Bailey, Sara and Karma, Kris, Chris and Neon, John and Terri and Eli, Susan and Rocket, and Gemini and Tango. Club Activities The LCKC Agility Trails were held July 21-23 - A note from Beverly: Well, another agility trial is in books. What incredible membership we have. Members who have never done and may never do agility came out to help. We got tons of positive feedback from all sectors about all aspects of the trial. And the judges were very pleased with how things went... a very good indication that things went well! We had a great crew and wonderful volunteers. The agility committee is the best and, as always, a special "Thank you!" to Irene Hetrick, the above-and-beyond "go to" person. Thank you to all for the great support for this event. Beverly Morgan Lewis 2012 Agility Trial Chair Woofstock: see the President s Corner for a quick summary. Farm Store Pet Fair - coming up on September 22nd. Have you heard? Kris and Bayard Smith attended the Scottish Deerhound Club of America's Western Regional Specialty in Lompoc on July 27, and the all breed show andakc lure coursing on the 28th. "We didn't do anything at the shows except bring a lot of red ribbon out of the rings, but all three of our hounds did well running. There was a good entry, enough for a 5 point major. Colin won the open stakes for his first 5 points, with Kaelyn coming second and Tillie fourth. Colin came within one point of winning the run off for Best of Breed with the best running Deerhound ever, who has now won 20 Best in Fields, but he couldn't quite catch her. Maybe next year..."
