An Announcement from the Directors of Newark Livestock Market Made Saturday 2 nd February 2019 prior to Prime Sheep & Store Cattle Sales Doug has asked me to say a few words on his behalf He thought that it was the time to share with you our loyal market customers our future plans for Newark. We are very proud of the way that our Young Team have all pushed forward in recent months and the support that we have had from you all our customers both buyers and vendors is marvellous! Contrary to recent rumours Newark Livestock Market with the support of its Landlords Newark & Sherwood District Council is here to stay. We are delighted to be welcoming Harrison & Hetherington to Newark in a joint venture to expand our Pedigree Sales of both Cattle and Sheep and together with the Carlisle based Auctioneers we will build our successful sales of pedigree cattle and sheep into the best in the East side of the country. This new team has been welcomed by all the Breed Societies with more Breeds coming to Newark to sell their pedigree stock. We kick off with English Premier Show & Sale on 23 rd March with Lincoln Reds, Simmentals and Salers represented, a week later British Blue Day on March 30 th also welcomes the Blonde Society for the first time. The Longhorn Cattle Society will sell at our Autumn sales for the first time and the Angus Society will be back in Newark. Sadly, we have lost the advertised Limousin Society Sale. However, we shall be holding sales of Pedigree Limousin Cattle and dates will be published shortly. Sheep wise we are delighted to be associated with the Texel, Beltex and many other Breed Associations in respect of various Sales of Ewes with Lambs at Foot, Breeding Males and Females and In Lambers, culminating in Novembers Winter Warmers Sale! Both MV accredited and non-accredited sheep will be presented at these sales. We, the Team at Newark are looking forward to continuing to welcome you to our Sales and we are all delighted to help you all at any time. D.W.H Gascoine Chairman Newark Livestock Market

Wednesday Markets We are currently running Red Sales for Cull Cows, OTMs, Young Bulls and Clean Cattle. RED MARKET SALES SLAUGHTER ONLY CATTLE OF ALL TYPES NO PRE-MOVEMENT TEST (Where cattle are coming from premises under TB2 restriction they need to have had a clear TB test within the preceding 90 days) CATTLE FROM HOLDINGS WITH TB BREAKDOWN, NO SIX DAY RULE Sheep vendors please note this is still a RED day Saturday Markets FEEDING COWS, STORE AND BREEDING CATTLE, SHEEP AND PIGS are held on Saturdays. Store Cattle must be pre-movement tested and the 6 Day rule applies (Pre-movement test lasts 60 days) We pay our vendors on the day for all stock sold so please pay on the day for stock purchased. SHEEP TAGGING & RECORDING REQUIREMENTS FROM 1 ST JANUARY 2015 ENGLAND LAMBS As from 1 st January all lambs being identified from this date on any holding in England must be identified with either Double Electronic Tags (Breeders) or a Single Electronic Slaughter Tag (Prime Lambs and/or Store Lambs). Sheep Keepers will record the single identified lambs by batch recording the Number of Animals and Flock Numbers. Lambs born in 2014 and identified with a single, non-electronic tag DO NOT need to be retagged when moved after 1 st January 2015. CULL EWES Those individually identified with electronic tags will be electronically read and recorded. For those individually identified with the old style Manual/Non-Electronic Tags (Historic Flock) it is our recommendation that Sheep Keepers retag these at the time of selling with a set of double electronic tags. However rules do permit: Those sheep being moved as a Batch direct to slaughter (including through a market) using old manual tags as the identifier list the total number in each consignment BUT If these sheep move to a non-abattoir holding or through a market to a non-abattoir holding, they must have their individual manual/non electronic tags (UK + (up to) 12 digits) read and recorded on the Movement Licence. We recommend any Historic Flock with old style non electronic tags be sold with a declaration to slaughter PLEASE NOTE The TB Status of the Livestock Market on a Store Cattle Sale Day is TB NEUTRAL. Livestock sold on this day retain the TB Status from their Departure Holding, I.e.: TB1 or TB4. If you any queries please speak to the Auctioneers. DELIVERY OF STOCK ON A TUESDAY & FRIDAY AFTERNOON Please note we are unable to accept ANY Livestock on EITHER a Tuesday or Friday Afternoon before 4pm, without prior permission from Keith Miller 07801 032847 James Sealy 07772 618315 Market Office 01636 676741 FARM ASSURANCE LINK HOLDING NUMBERS Please ensure where you take summer grazing that you link that to your main CPH Number to ensure Stok is sold to be correct for Farm Assurance.
