RKC has recently been informed -- a very large out break of "Parvo" (for dogs) has been identified throughout many areas and show sites which some of us have just recently participated or attended. All upcoming scheduled show sites have been informed - you need to check ahead to verify participation. For those of us with young puppies and upcoming litters - we feel it would be best to protect each other, by not taking any chances! RKC wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas! RKC Board Meeting Minutes 10/25/12 7:34 called to order by Pres. Bruce Glenn. Michelle made motion to accept last meeting's minutes; Chuck seconded it; Motion passed. Thank you notes (will be published in Newsletter) We have received multiple requests from juniors for financial support to go to AKC honored shows-how do we handle it? Will discuss with general membership. Afghan club of America has requested to release Afghans from our show in 2013 due to specialty in Portland, OR Treasurer report (as reported at meeting). Show Report date 28,29 weekend in Sept. covered AKC letters regarding ineligibility at dog show Club made best income in multiple years (should be $800 more from Onofrio and one check that was returned) Still going with Onofrio for next year (so is CBDTC and Corgi club); Tons of help from members at the show Handling Class going well, new participants 7:00 to 8:00 at the Community Center, enter from river side no class on the 31st (Halloween night) also no class the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (the 21st) Unfinished Business applications o second readings: Courtney Guthrie, MaryAnne Brownlee Chuck makes a motion to recommend to the general membership for consideration, Michelle seconded all in favor, passed o discussion about question from potential new members who are planning on moving in to town, but not able to be here for first readings Michelle motioned to make an exception about being present for first readings. Seconded by Kevin. Motion passed New Business o Special Events available for shows 4-6 month puppy show (held at same time, must be official judge with a number, no points, geared toward new people) owner-handler competition (happens with breed judging, only owner-handlers, separate group and BS judging) o motion made by Sarah to offer owner-handler competition at our next show, seconded by Kevin
Chuck motioned no board meeting in November due to Thanksgiving, seconded by Michelle Chuck made a motion to release Afghans from show; seconded by Michelle Motion passed Kevin brought up ideas about advertising, how to increase advertising in show catalog, ideas about potential advertisers 2000 skeins of yam bought for club by Chuck & Bonnie, so anyone who knits or crochets needs to offer to help; can be used to make afghans for junior scholarship, etc. 8:45 pm - Bonnie made a motion to adjourn; Dave seconded Submitted by Sarah T.
