Notes From the President Bark in the Park: Riverwalk Stadium goes to the dogs! Sponsored by the Montgomery Biscuits, this is an opportunity to bring your dog to the stadium for a game. July 20 th is the designated day for canine participation. Ticket prices for seats in the stands are $10 and $12; the cost to sit on the lawn is $8. Meeting Agenda Wednesday, June 18, 2014 Call to order President s Report Secretary s Report Treasurer s Report Old Business Committee Chairs New Business Announcements/Brags Program: Humane Society of Elmore County-Rea Cord Montgomery Kennel Club Minutes May 21, 2014 Meeting The meeting was held at Goodwin Community Center and called to order by Jane Williams at 7:05 pm. There were 14 members present. There was one guest, Donna McLamb (Dalmatians). Jane thanked Joan and Alan for pulling together the Meet the Breed at the Pet Supermarket on May 17. All AKC Groups, except the Toy Group, were represented. Alan will let us know when the next Meet the Breed is scheduled. Secretary s Report: The minutes for the April MKC meeting were approved on a motion by Kaye and a second by Carolyn. Treasurer s Report: There was no Treasurer s Report. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Show: Mike Moore reported: The Judges Panel has been worked out. Volunteers are still needed to help with different committees. Linda Gamper is going to Chair the Obedience Committee. We are going to have a raffle and Corrine is going to Chair the Raffle Committee again this year.

All paperwork must be submitted to Onofrio by July 2. Trophies: Jane said that Baba Monk has mugs and cooler for Friday s trophies. The coolers are $8.50 each and the mugs are $15.00 each. Let Baba know if you are going to donate. Other Committee Reports: None. Old Business: None. New Business: Donna McLamb discussed conducting an eight-week seminar for conformation newcomers. She has shown dogs for more than 30 years and she taught conformation classes in Florida. It would be a structured program with a limited number of participants. There would be a mock show at the end of the session. If MKC will secure the premises at Goodwin, she will conduct the seminar, for which there will be no charge. Donna suggested that the classes be on Wednesday evenings from 7 until 8. Four people have already indicated that they want to participate, so there would only be a couple of slots open. Jenny Whisenhunt, Community Outreach Director with the Prattville/Autauga Humane Society addressed the members on a variety of items concerning the shelter including, the shelter s Mission Statement; education and outreach programs; the No Room for Rover expansion program; trap and release; spay and neuter; and, upcoming adoption events. Jenny said there are several items that the shelter needs, particularly, cleaning products, kitty litter, cat and kitten food, and gift cards to local pet supply stores, WalMart, Lowe s, etc. Jane presented Jenny with a check from MKC for the Shelter. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, Linda Gamper Secretary TROPHIES Hi MKC Members, It's trophy time again. For Friday's table I have selected two items for you to choose from. The hand thrown pottery mug designed specifically for the MKC trophy table and the cooler that was featured in November 2013. I will also be using any leftover blanket throws on Friday s table. Cost: Mugs $15.00 Coolers: $8.50 Saturday's table is the traditional member s choice. I have a list of what was left from the November 2013 show. If you have not received an email from me about leftover trophies, please email or call me. Trophy pledges are due by June 20.

Thanks in advance for your prompt attention. Baba Monk, Trophy Chair 334-567-0673 babamonk@aol.com CONFORMATION CLASSES Donna McLamb has offered to teach an 8 week class to those interested in learning about conformation. There is only room for 6 people. Four spots are already filled. The class will be free. They begin on June 25 at 7 p.m. They will be weekly through the summer. BRAGS Please email me your brags at cflack12@yahoo.com! When you do send me your brag, please include the dogs registered name and the breed. Also put brag in the subject line. VOLUNTEERS Please let Corrine at corrine.k.dreyfus.civ@mail.mil know if you can volunteer for anything. There are numerous things we need volunteers for. For example, meet the breed, education, and dog shows. Signing up for various things does not mean you are obligated. You will just be contacted when needed and if you are not available at the time, you can just say no. Please consider being a volunteer.
