The new site is: http://southerncoloradokennelclub.com Please check it out. It should be real similar to the other site with some additional features. There is feeds that are generated from the AKC and Dog Shows. Feedback is welcome! I am working on pointing southerncoloradokennelclub.org,.net, and.info to this site as well. Currently the old southerncoloradokennelclub.org site is still active in it's old form. It will soon be brought down and pointed to this one. I also believe that I have the emails working again. I hope this gets to everyone. Brags!! As soon as I have the Members Only area created, I will share that with you as well. Those of you that send emails out usually from the site, I will send you an additional email. There is a new way to do this. Correspondence: None Committees: Building: We purchased a new vacuum cleaner as the Dyson broke. RIDGID shop vac. Renee will try to get the Dyson fixed. We need someone to sign up to clean June, July, and August. We could hire someone to do this, but it will cost money. If no one signs up, we will hire it out in June. Shot Clinic - we were approached by the spay and neuter group to run a shot clinic on Sunday, August 9 th. There are no classes scheduled. It won t cost us any money. Concerns were expressed that some of the dogs may be unhealthy and bring disease into the building. We will clean after the clinic, and restrict the group to a specific portion of the building. We would need 2 or 3 club members to attend. Keys If you have a key to the building and you are not cleaning or training, please return it to Renee. When leaving the building, remember to lock both the bottom lock and the deadbolt. Training Center: Classes are going well. The Saturday beginner class did not get enough participants. Will try again the middle of June. The novice drop-in class is on-going. Schedule on the web-site is never up to date, which is a problem. If a class has a cancellation, please notify Renee or Will. If we don t hear soon, we will just do what we did last year. The Colorado Springs club and our club are discussing possibly splitting confirmation out from Obedience and Rally and hold shows at different times of the year. This is very preliminary discussion, and obedience and rally people need to be included in further discussion. The reason for the split would be to avoid conflicts between O/R and conformation, and possibly pull more entries. There may not be a financial advantage for separation. Renee can get the details from Flo regarding expenses if we need them. Silent Auction: Please donate items. See Dee Dunlap for details. Events: Summer Outing in August. Cherie Holmquist volunteers to take it on. We need to decide on dates, food, and location. Nomination Committee: Board Members: Dee Dunlap and Helen O Connor. Floor Nominations: After 2 requests for nominations, there are none. We will take the slate from the nomination committee. Dee Dunlap will serve a second term, and Helen O Connor will replace Alex. The term starts in July. Old Business: We need a volunteer for the Barker. (Celestina Lynch has taken on the Barker) Will is updating the web site. We are now hosting with Host Gator, not Go Daddy. We are saving money. We ve also purchased.com,.net and.info. New Business: The club has been active for 60 years. Is there something we can do to commemorate this accomplishment? Membership: Second Readings: Vicki St. Clair, and Jennifer and Julie Whiteman. Both were accepted as members Adjourned at 8:10. Respectively submitted by Diana Behling, Secretary
Called to order at: 6:40 PM Board Meeting May 5, 2015 Present: Will Hughes, Flo Andrews, Alex Bravo, Renee Wolfe, Dee Dunlap, Diana Behling, Cherie Holmquist Treasurers report: Reviewed. A suggestion was made to rename the "training center class expenses" to "training center expenses" to better reflect the full scope of the category. Report accepted. Bills are all paid. (Electric, gas, credit card). Correspondence: Flo - Letter from PAWS for life thanking the club for Lisa Golob's memorial donation to benefit the shelter. Training center: No one has signed up to clean this month. Renee will look into getting the cooler up and running. There are light bulbs that need replacing. Alex has a ladder, so he will replace the bulbs this week. There has been a $1100.00 deposit from classes. There are classes every day except Friday and Sunday and classes are going well. Facebook - Colorado Dog Events page -- are having a class on dancing with your dog to in Denver. Cherie moves that the club pick up the expenses to send a person to the class. Individual would need to make a commitment to teach the class. Flo seconds. Motion passes. Board nominations: Helen O'Conner and Dee Dunlap were recommended by the committee. Recommendations will be taken from the floor at the next club meeting. Millie is interested if there is a slot. Show: Deeann has all the judges. Rally and obedience judges need to be entered on AKC. Flo is working on that. Premium List -- More dog shows in the country, but less entries per show. We need to be proactive with our offerings. Kat is working on health clinics. We will be offering owner/handler every day. And junior showmanship will be offered for free. Renee would like to have a volunteer to work with a clothing exchange. Show committee meeting Saturday, May 16th after Renee's confirmation class (~2 PM) Cherie suggests that volunteers at the show wear matching shirts that identifies the workers as part of the kennel club. An alternative would be a vest that could be re-used from year to year. Possibly green like our club colors. Time to start planning the summer outing! Old business We still need a volunteer to do the Barker. Web site: Will is working with Nicole to volunteer to work on the web site. Will found a domain management company HostGator to move our site to. Hosting is only 2.23 per month with a three year commitment and there will be better support for membership list and club email. The move will be complete by our next club meeting. There are other options for our Domain name, such as.club. It was discussed and a motion was made and seconded to do so. We will take on the other domain extensions. Diana will send out email with minutes and meeting announcement New business: At the Pet Expo, a group (War dog memorial) was there with military service dogs, and they are trying to get a memorial set up for military working dogs. Renee would like to invite them to a club meeting to talk about their group. Alex: works with a group that does a shot clinic that brings in publicity for his facility. It might be a good idea for SKCK to support a shot clinic. Flo will look into this. Alex will still be available to help with repairs and participate in the club, even though he is no longer going to serve on the board.. Adjourned 7:45 PM

Upcoming Seminars with Lorrie Reynolds June 13th-14th Mountain Dog Sports, Broomfield, Outdoors Sun. AM Multi-Dimensional Sun. PM Dealer s Choice August 8th-9th, Friendship Academy, Peyton, Indoors or Outdoors Sun. AM Multi-Dimensional Dog Sun. PM Dealer s Choice October 10th-11th, Training with Grace, Lakewood, Indoors Sun AM Dealer s Choice Sun. PM-Multi-Dimensional Dog Gambling is Addictive - Full Day Distance Foundation and Communication Get the confidence you need to play the distance games, stop running every yard of the course with your dog, and eliminate the confusion about distance for both you and your dog. Discover the skills you need to work distance (and Qualify!) with your dog, find out what your dog *really* pays attention to on course, improve your communication with your partner, and learn how to teach skills to be successful. The seminar includes a lecture component, exercises that allow you to apply your new knowledge to your training sessions at home, and short courses that we will run at the end of the day. Dogs must be able to perform all obstacles safely to participate (weaves poles are not mandatory). Dealer s Choice - Half Day Distance Handling Here is your chance to analyze various short courses, run them, get feedback on your run, and get the do-over that is not available at trials! Learn about using the available space to position yourself for the gamble, choosing the nest path through the course, setting your dog up at the start line, and moving to indicate exactly where you want the dog to go. Several courses will be set during this seminar, based on difficult sections from previous trials, and handlers will be getting at least two chances to run each one. Gamble lines will be adjusted based on the level of team. To get the most out of this seminar, it is strongly recommended that Gambling is Addictive be taken before participating in Dealer s Choice. Creating a Multi-Dimensional Dog -Half Day Handling Your dog CAN do it all! Learn which skills you need to allow your team to be successful in multiple venues. Understand how to balance distance work with up-close and technical practice so that your dog reads your cues no matter where you are playing. Determine when to take advantage of distance to get into position for lines of jumps. Exercises/short courses will include sequences that are common on DOCNA, NADAC, AKC, and USDAA courses. Full-Day Seminar is $125 for working teams/$65 for auditors. Limit 8 workings teams. Half-Day Seminars are $65 for working teams/$35 for auditors. Limit 8 working teams. Contact Lorrie Reynolds in person or at lreynolds@skybeam.com to register.
