Show Schedule Friday, 01 March 2019 3:00 p.m. The showroom will be open at 3:00 p.m. to receive poultry. The building will remain open until 8:30 p.m. For security reasons, the building must be locked at 9:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding. Saturday, 02 March 2019 7:00 a.m. The showroom will be open to receive birds. 8:30 a.m. All entries must be cooped in and received. 9:00 a.m. Judging begins. Only birds in place by 8:30 a.m. will be judged. 9:30 a.m. Egg Show entries need to be in place. 11:00 a.m. Youth Showmanship begins as soon as all Junior Show entries have been judged. BIOSECURITY: All poultry may be subject to inspection prior to entering the building. Any fowl found exhibiting signs of disease, respiratory issues, mites and the sorts will not be allowed on premises, or in the building. Should an exhibitor arrive with an endemic problem (severe mite outbreak, poultry with swollen eyes, etc.), the exhibitor forfeits their entry and will not be allowed to enter the facilities risking the overall health of the poultry being exhibited for the weekend. Any poultry that appear sickly or diseased during the competition must be promptly removed from the premises. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: The 2019 North Texas Poultry Showcase will allow exhibitors without a current test, only if they cannot get their poultry tested due to the shortage. Due to the temporary shortage of P-T antigen, the Texas Animal Health Commission will temporarily allow exhibitors to enter public exhibitions without a current test, only if they cannot get their poultry tested due to the shortage. Once the shortage has been resolved, the above-mentioned rule still applies for all exhibitors and public exhibitions. Hank Hayes, DVM - Region 4 Director, Texas Animal Health Commission. Texas Origin Poultry: 1. Negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within 30 (thirty) days OR from flocks that meet either the Texas Pullorum-Typhoid Program or the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP). The 2019 North Texas Poultry Showcase WILL allow exhibitors without a current test! 2. Poultry must originate from areas where reportable avian diseases are not known to have been active within the last 30 (thirty) days. Poultry Show Rules and Guidelines 1. Entry Deadline: POST MARKED BY FEBRUARY 16, 2019 (No day-of-show registration). Entry Fees: Open Division: $4.00 per bird & $8.00 per double coop (for large fowl birds, no bantams). Junior Division: $3.50 per bird & $7.00 per double coop (for large fowl birds, no bantams). Junior Showmanship: $5.00 per contestant. Egg Show Entries: $3.00 per entry. No P-T certificate is required to enter your eggs. Backyard Chicken Show: $4.00 per bird & $8.00 per double coop (for large fowl birds, no bantams). 2. Participation: Youth exhibitors cannot under any circumstance share a bird. Siblings and classmates participating in the show must each have their own bird entered in the show. Exhibiters must own the fowl, and care for the birds with support of parents or guardians, when used for Junior Showmanship Events. 3. Parking: $10 at Fair Park entry gates. If arriving early (7 a.m.), possibility of no charge. If you leave without having paid and receiving a parking receipt, you will probably have to pay to re-enter the grounds. 4. Judging: ABA, APA & YEPA standards. Judges decisions are final. 5. Backyard classes will include large fowl and bantam best Cock, Hen, Cockerel and Pullet. Backyard poultry limited to chickens only. 6. All poultry may be subject to inspection prior to entering the building. Any fowl found exhibiting signs of disease, respiratory issues, mites will not be allowed to show. Bugs of any kind are a disqualification. 7. Exhibitors will be responsible for feeding and watering their bird(s). Scratch grains and water will be available on-site. 8. AWARDS AND RELEASE: Do not remove birds from show pens, begin crating birds or cooping out until awards are finished. All breeds and varieties will be accepted. Only APA and ABA approved varieties will be judged beyond BV and RV placements. North Texas Poultry Showcase Youth Showmanship Demonstrate your showmanship and breed knowledge. Information available at: Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA) http://youthexhibitionpoultry.org All Juniors are encouraged to join YEPA to take advantage of tools and rewards. Competitors that are YEPA members prior to the sanctioned show will earn YEPA sanctioned points. Membership prior to the event is the perfect way to prepare for your participation. Only one egg is required for each entry in Class #8. Entry forms must be postmarked by February 16, 2019. The egg exhibits must be brought to the egg show desk before 9:30 a.m. on the day of the show. Eggs must be in place NO LATER than 9:30 a.m. on the day of the show. Eggs will be accepted from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Judging: Disqualifications for Classes: Artificial color enhancements, cracked/broken eggs or dirty egg shell.
