Most Versatile Field Challenge The purpose of this challenge is to recognize and celebrate the amazing versatility of our breed. The Most Versatile Field Challenge is a special attraction event that will be held in conjunction with the FSSA National Specialty Show. This event is not sanctioned by the AKC. Established 2018

Rules and Scoring for Most Versatile Field Challenge Qualifications 1) Challengers must participate in a minimum of 3 events types and qualify in a minimum of 2. These numbers may change depending on how many Event Types are offered in a given year. 2) Event Types will consist of the following: a) Conformation does not include Sweeps or Juniors b) Rally c) Obedience d) Agility Regular and Preferred will have equal standing e) Barn Hunt f) Coursing Ability g) Fast Cat h) Dock Diving i) Tracking j) Hunt Test k) Working Certificate 3) Event Types may be added as deemed necessary. 4) Challengers may be entered in more than 3 Event Types. 5) Challengers may be entered in multiple classes within each type. 6) Event Types must be participated in to be eligible for points. 7) The single highest point value earned in each Event Type will be used in tabulating a challengers points. 8) Points within Event Types are not cumulative. Additional points will not be awarded for multiple placements/qualifying scores in each Event Type. 9) Only events/classes that anyone is eligible for will be considered for the challenge. Therefore events/classes such as Sweeps, Stud Dog, Brood Bitch and Juniors will not be part of the challenge. 10) Challengers may be handled by more than one person, however bonus points will be assessed to those dogs who are Owner Handled in the Conformation classes. AKC Owner Handler rules and eligibility will apply.

Entries 1) Challengers must be entered using the MVF Challenge Entry Form. A handler can enter a challenger in the MVF Challenge by completing the entry form that will be available in the premium or online. The form must be submitted to the MVF Challenge secretary for that year. The name and address for each years secretary will be listed on the premium for that year. 2) Closing date for the MVF Challenge will vary from year to year. The closing date will be listed on the premium for that year. 3) Entries should include a photo of the challenger, however this is not an entry requirement. Photos should not be win photos from any venue. Candid photos only please. It is recommended that a gallery of challenger photos be posted for people to view. 4) There is no fee to participate in the challenge. Scoring 1) 1 Participation point will be awarded for each event type participated in. Qualifying scores required to receive higher event points. 2) The classes offered in each Event Type may change from year to year. The specific classes eligible will be stated in the premium. 3) Conformation a) +2 points for 3 rd or 4 th place in BOB eligible classes b) +3 points for 2 nd place in BOB eligible classes c) +4 points for 1 st place in BOB eligible classes d) +5 points for RWD and RWB e) +6 points for WD and WB f) +7 points for BOW and AOM g) +8 points for SD and SB h) +9 points for BOS i) +10 points for BISS BOB eligible classes are Puppy (may be broken down farther), 12-18 months (may be broken down farther), Novice, Amateur Owner Handler, Bred By, American Bred, and Open. 4) Rally a) +2 points for Novice b) +4 points for Intermediate c) +5 points for Brace (if offered) d) +6 points for Advanced e) +7 points for Excellent f) +8 points for Masters

c) Dock Diving d) Tracking e) Hunt Test f) Working Certificate 9) Bonus Points will be awarded for the following: a) +2 points for Owner Handled in Conformation (except NOHBOB, who will only be eligible for a total of 7 points unless said dog also wins a higher point value placement). b) +1 point for any veteran dog aged 7-8 c) +2 points for any veteran dog aged 9+ Tie Breakers 1) In the event of a tie, the following tie breakers will be used in this order: a) Number of Event Types qualified in b) Total number of classes qualified in c) Total number of classes participated in d) Highest point value eligible for, not including Conformation e) If the above tie breakers are not enough, the committee reserves the right to come up with a tie breaker that is to the best of their ability both non-biased and fair Scorekeeping and Awards 1) The MVF Challenge committee will appoint a committee member or representative at the specialty as a scorekeeper to track challengers points. 2) Points for each dog entered will be posted daily in a public place. By necessity this place will vary from year to year, and the location may not be available in time to be listed in the premium. 3) The manner in which point information can and will be received by the committee member responsible for tracking scores will vary between Event Types. The information may not always be available immediately from the superintendent or secretary of a specific Event Type. Due to this, the manner in which scores from each Event Type will be collected must be specifically stated in the premium. 4) MVF Challenge placements will be awarded through 4 th place. 5) Awards will be announced at the FSSA National Awards Banquet. 6) Winners need not be present to win, HOWEVER if the winner is not present, it will be the primary handlers responsibility to make arrangements to receive their award (have it mailed, have someone pick it up for them, etc.). Shipping will not be paid for by the club. 7) It is not a requirement that awards be listed in the premium.

By entering a challenger, each handler acknowledges that they have read and understood the rules of the MVF Challenge. It is also expected that each handler hold themselves to the highest level of sportsmanship.

MVF Challenge Scoring for 2018 Challengers must participate in a minimum of 3 event types, and qualify in a minimum of 2. Point totals are the sum of participation points, points from qualifying scores, and any bonus points.
