THE COLORFUL SHEEP It's ok to be different. By: Frederique Grade 3, International School of Curaçao
Once upon a time there were two sisters, Kit and Caroline, living in the country side. One day they decided to go watch the little sheep. The children loved to see the sheep jumping full of happiness and playing together in the meadows. Kit said, "Look at those little sheep! They make me so happy!" The sheep were running."bah-bah-bah-bah!" they yelled. 1. Caroline said, "But look at that little black sheep over there. The poor lamb looks so sad." The little black sheep was sitting all alone crying silently. The sisters went over to the black sheep and asked what was wrong. "I am Blacky, the black sheep", he said, "and I m different from the others. They are all beautiful white sheep. They don't want to play with me because I'm different."
Kit and Caroline walked back home. "We should do something!" Kid said. "Definitely", Caroline agreed, "but what can we do?" After a while, Caroline said: "I think I have an idea, and I need your help Kit." That afternoon the girls further discussed their plan. They were sure it would work! "What a fabulous plan it is!" Kit told her sister, clapping her hands. "We are going to help little Blacky!" 2.
That night, with big paint cans in their hands, the girls tiptoed into the barn where the sheep were sleeping. Without making any noise, they painted the sheep in all colors of the rainbow. Green, yellow, red, pink, blue... Every sheep got a different color. 3.
The next morning, the sheep awoke. They looked around and saw the other sheep, all with a different color. At first they didn't recognize their friends. They were shocked. "Where am I? a little yellow sheep asked a pink sheep. "My name is Cotton Ball and who are you?", asked the pink sheep. "I am Snow White" the yellow sheep replied. "You are not Snow White, you are yellow!" "Yes I am and you are pink, Cotton Ball!" Then the sheep realized that they were painted, and that the color didn't matter. Actually they liked their new colors! "You are beautiful Cotton Ball. 4. "So are you, Snow White!"
The sheep started playing, as they do all days. This time, the little black sheep, now painted red, played along. All of a sudden, it started raining and all the paint washed off. Snow White was white again and so was Cotton Ball. Blacky turned black, but the sheep hardly noticed. They were too busy playing, jumping and running in the meadows. Kit and Caroline came back to watch the sheep. They were very happy that the little black sheep was playing with his new friends. "How are you?", they yelled. "This is the best day of my life!", Blacky said happily. Caroline and Kit gave each other a high five. "Job well done!", said Kit. 5. "I agree!", laughed Caroline.
Snow White, Cotton Ball and all the other white sheep apologized to the little black sheep. "Blacky, do you want you to play with us?" Snow White asked. "You are our special and unique friend." "Thank you for being my friends", said Blacky. "Best Friends Forever" Cotton Ball said, "and a BIG thank you to Kit and Caroline who helped us understand that it is ok to be different!" 6. And the sheep lived happily ever after.
