All changes and cancellations must be received in writing prior to closing, except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows published by the American Kennel Club. To pay for a faxed or attached scanned entry form, use PayPal services, payable to account for PARRKEES@mac.com. Add $4.00 for each entry form to the correct entry fee amount. Fax number is (760) 946-9048. You must fax the front and back of entry form for it to be accepted, completely filled out and signed. Notification must be received by the show secretary from PayPal that the funds have been deposited before the entry will be accepted. Entries not on an official AKC entry form are not acceptable and photocopies of the entry form must have the Agreement and Instructions included. The Basset Hound Club of Southern California, Inc. may deny entries to these shows due to outstanding monetary obligations to the clubs. Effective for all events held after January 1, 2008, the AKC will collect a $3.00 Event Service Fee for the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 service fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. The current $.50 recording fee will continue to be collected. (Chapter 11, Section 2, Rules Applying to Dog Shows, published by the American Kennel Club. There is no recording fee or event service fee for junior showmanship, sweepstakes, futurities, brace/team, multi-dog classes, or special attractions.) In Rally, AKC will collect a $3.50 Recording Fee for each entry of a dog. Owners are responsible for errors on entry blanks, whoever may make such errors. Entry fees will not be refunded in event of errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date, nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, bitch in season, or barred from competition by the Show Committee. If, because of extreme weather, riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund or entry fee(s) will be made. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show, but whose championship is unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Best of Breed competition, provided the transfer is made with the show secretary at least one-half hour prior to the start of any regular conformation judging at the show. Acknowledgment of entry will be made with an exhibitor s ticket and judging program. If not received within a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the show secretary at (760) 946-9048. Consult Judging Program for time of judging. Exhibitors and handlers will be held responsible for clean conditions in and around their area. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian s recommendation to assure that their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. Jr. Showmanship Offered SUNDAY only Judge: Ms. Kathy A. Forbes Novice Class: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatically become eligible, upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class at the same show provided the win is the third (3rd) first place award with competition and further providing there are one of more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class. Open Class: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present. No entry may be changed or cancelled unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing by the Superintendent or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hour for entries, except that a correction may be made from one age division to another, provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any Junior Showmanship class at the show. Junior, Intermediate and Senior Classes: Each of the above regular classes are divided by age: Junior...... 9 yrs & under 12 yrs on day of show Intermediate. 12 yrs old & under 15 yrs on day of show Senior.. 15 yrs old & under 18 yrs on day of show Master Class: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years and under 18 years on the day of the show and who have won 10 first place wins in an Open class (with competition) to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class is November 1 October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete the following year. Eligibility of Dog: Each dog handled in a regular Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of the Breed or Obedience Classes at the show, or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog may be substituted. Such substitution must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. All such substitutions must be made at least one half hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship Classes at the show. Each dog must be owned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler s father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather, or grandmother, including the corresponding step and half relations, or by a member of the Junior Handler s household. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Show or Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. At a Specialty Show, each dog must be of the breed for which the show is held. A dog that has been excused or disqualified by a breed judge or by a Bench Show Committee may still be handled in Junior Showmanship if eligible to compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that has been rejected, dismissed, or excused under the Dog Show Rules for the protection of other dogs at the show or for the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship. Winning of First Place in an Open Junior Showmanship Class at this show may qualify or count toward qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship Classes. Field Trial Dogs Field Trial Bitches NR1.08500. The Field Trial Dog and Bitch Classes are open to any Basset Hound which has placed in an AKC member or licensed Field Trial. Judging will be on conformation only and the winners of the Field Trial Dog and Field Trial Bitch classes may compete for Best of Breed if otherwise undefeated on the day of the show. A photocopy of the ribbon earned must accompany entry in the Field Trial classes. BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners records. If, at the end of the 90-day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by The American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by the AKC. JUDGE S AWARDS OF MERIT At the judge's discretion, an award of merit may be given after awarding BOB, BOS, BOW, Select Dog and Select Bitch to any other basset remaining in the ring. The formula for determining how many Awards of Merit can be given will be: one (1) Award of Merit for every seven (7) entries with five (5) being the maximum. BEST BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR (BOTH DAYS) NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES Stud Dog Class For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The award will be based on the merits of the two get, get only to be judged. The owner of the Stud Dog need not be the owner of the get.
