MD 201 N2 NEWSLETTER ISSN (Print) 1837 588X November 2015 Achieving Our Dreams Together District Governor Sally Wilton - District 201 N2 of the International Association of Lions Clubs Greetings from District Governor Sally With the arrival of November, it seems the year has its skates on, and is flying forward, towards Christmas. The Christmas Cakes have started to appear around the Clubs, and I thank the Cake Chairman for the efforts with the sales for 2015. The Convention in October, was definitely a highlight of this year for both Stan and I. It was fantastic to have PID Sheryl Jensen and Kevin join us during the weekend, and they both thank the Committee for the very enjoyable time they had whilst here. It was also great to have visiting DG Tony and Judy Smith from N4 and DG Elvio Munzone, and wife Lion Gai from N5 join us also. I look forward to attending both their Conventions in November, one in Orange, and the N5 in Bankstown, later this month. It has been wonderful to hear the positive comments made by Members from around the Clubs in the District, who attended and obviously enjoyed the Convention,. I again thank the committee for their amazing hard work to bring the Convention so successfully to the District and Members for 2015. May I also congratulate all those standing for positions in 2016, may your year ahead be very successful and rewarding. During November, Stan and I will have the pleasure of again meeting and seeing the amazing activities of the Clubs of this District, as we continue to travel around the Clubs, I thank again all the Presidents of the Clubs for the pride shown of their Community and the efforts their Members are achieving to assist those in need and the enjoyment we have experienced in seeing these activities. It has been such a tremendously rewarding experience to meet the new Members I have had the privilege to induct as I go around the Clubs. Their enthusiasm has been wonderful to see, and I hope their service is as rewarding, for them as they journey along the road of volunteering. Thank you to all the Clubs, whose efforts in Membership has proved successful for them. To date I have been privileged to induct a total of 18 new Lions to this District. Please continue to STOP THE DROPS! Stan, Tim, and Mary continue to assist with the Reading Action program as they visit the Clubs with the DG, 1VDG and 2VDG. The sales of the Sonoma meets Miss Mouse Book, have to date been wonderful, and we are nearing the 400 th Book to be sold, I congratulate the efforts, as the sale of these books is also assisting the Children s Mobility Foundation, as well as assisting the Primary aged children who receive the Book. Thank you to all the Clubs for their support of this program. I do hope all the Clubs have endeavoured to increase the sales of their NSW-ACT Save Sight and Public Health Care Foundation Raffle this year. The money raised for this foundation is vital to assist so many around Australia to restore sight, and dignity, and with a DOLLAR for each ticket going to possibly winning a car! As we continue through this year, please remember to treat each other with respect, appreciate each other s efforts, and thank you for the hard work you are all doing to achieve the goals set by your Clubs, and we will ACHIEVE OUR DREAMS TO- GETHER AS A Team this year, See you all soon, DG Sally DG Sally s Team at Convention

Page 5 NEW HEARING DOG for BATEMANS BAY LIONS CLUB BATEMANS BAY LIONS CLUB, has welcomed little LUNA as a new addition for their newest Member Roseanna McClifty, who was inducted by the District Governor Sally Wilton on 6 th October, 2015. LUNA is a Papillion cross, and was delivered to Roseanna on the 26 th October, and has settled in well. The Trainer Mary Knight first introduced Luna, to Roseanna, in September, and they worked for 5 days together during that time, to make sure that Luna and Roseanna settled together as a Team. As Hearing Dog Chairman for this year, I have had the opportunity to see these dogs work with their new owners, and there have been a couple of Sound Field Systems installed into Primary Schools during the last few months, the latest of these was installed at St. Paul s Catholic Primary School, in Camden, congratulations to Camden Lions Club for their support of this project. Assisting with the Hearing Dog program has been very rewarding this year, and I would like to thank those Clubs who patronised the Hearing Dog Stand at the recent N2 Convention with their support of purchasing items, this money assists to train these Hearing Dogs for the Hearing impaired., this program would not be the success it is without the support of you the members, thank you.
