Earthquake in Peru There has been a huge earthquake in Peru. The earthquake was very strong. Many roads were destroyed. At least 500 people died. Thousands of homes were destroyed. Many people had no food and water. Some people had to steal food from shops. Many countries have sent aid to Peru.
Hurricane Hits Mexico A huge hurricane has hit Mexico. Hurricane Dean toppled trees and houses. Thousands of people had to evacuate. Many homes had no electricity. The hurricane caused flooding in Belize. Many sugar cane fields were destroyed. People had to evacuate from hospitals. Haiti, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic were badly affected.
Dog Gets 12 Million Dollars A dog received 12 million dollars in a will. A wealthy American business woman died recently. She owned many buildings and hotels. Her dog was called Trouble. Her brother will look after Trouble. Trouble was left more money than the grand children.
Explosions in Algeria Two bombs exploded in Algeria. At least 50 people died. One bomb exploded near naval barracks. A second explosion happened in Batna. Batna is south east of Algiers. People had been waiting to see the President. A terrorist group has accepted responsibility for the attacks. There have been huge protests about the bombings.
Millennium in Ethiopia Ethiopians are celebrating the new millennium. Ethiopians use a different calendar. Their millennium began on 12th September 2007. There were big celebrations in Addis Ababa. There were fireworks and a cultural festival. The Millennium festival will last a year. A big concert is scheduled in October. There are plans to plant millions of trees.
Viking Ship Under Pub A Viking ship has been discovered under a pub. The ship is buried under a pub near Liverpool. Vikings lived in England long ago. An archaeologist wants to dig the ship up. Builders discovered the ship in 1938. But the foreman told them to cover up the ship. It is thought the ship is 1000 years old. The ship might become a museum exhibit.
Japanese Moon Mission Japan has launched its first spaceship to the moon. It was launched from a southern Japanese island. The launch is four years late. There were many technical problems. The spaceship's mission will last a year. It will orbit the moon. The spaceship is called Kaguya. The name is from a mythical princess that travelled to the moon.
Police Shoot Robbers Police shot two robbers in Hampshire. The men were trying to rob a van. The van was delivering money to a bank. Police had been following the robbers. It is thought the robbers were armed. Some people think there was a third robber. A man has been arrested. Both robbers died.
Film Review: The Painted Veil The Painted Veil is about a woman called Kitty. Kitty's parents want her to get married. She immediately marries Walter. Walter studies bacteria and disease. He takes Kitty to China. But Kitty has an affair with someone.

Pumpkin Curry Ingredients 3 garlic cloves 1 fl oz olive oil 1 teaspoon ginger 1 green chilli teaspoon tumeric teaspoon coriander
Pumpkin Curry Ingredients teaspoon cayenne pepper a squeeze of lemon juice 340 grams pumpkin 170 grams sweet potato 400 grams tinned tomatoes 4 fl oz water
Pumpkin Curry Kitchen equipment grater bowl chopping board sharp knife measuring jug teaspoon wooden spoon large saucepan
Pumpkin Curry Method Get the chopping board and knife and chop the garlic cloves. Grate the ginger. Chop the green chilli and remove the seeds. Turn on the hob to a medium heat. Add the olive oil to the saucepan and heat. Add the garlic, ginger and chilli to the saucepan.
Pumpkin Curry Method Stir for 2-3 minutes until the garlic begins to brown. Put all the spices and the lemon juice in the bowl. When a paste is formed, add to the garlic mixture. Continue frying for another 2-3 minutes. Chop the pumpkin and sweet potato into small cubes. Add the pumpkin and sweet potato to the garlic mixture,
Pumpkin Curry Method Stir well. Add the tinned tomatoes, water and coriander. Increase the heat and stir until the mixture starts to boil. Reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes. The pumpkin and sweet potato need to be soft. Serve with rice or salad.
