A SUCCESSFUL STRUT Nearly 5,500 humans and their pets joined us for Mutt Strut 2016 on Sunday, May 15, and we are so thankful to our loyal supporters for making Mutt Strut a great success. We re grateful to Garfield Park for hosting us and providing such a lovely greenspace for this year s participants. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to raise over $250,000 for our animals! Thank you for making Mutt Strut 2016 such an impactful day! the walk all the dogs are talking about All the money raised at Mutt Strut will be put to good use and be used to provide care to the thousands of animals who receive care, food, love, and shelter at IndyHumane, said John Aleshire, CEO of IndyHumane. Without the support of our participants, sponsors, vendors, and friends, we would, quite simply, not be able to provide this type of care to homeless animals in need. Mutt Strut is the signature fundraising event for the Humane Society of Indianapolis. Each spring, rain or shine, supporters come out to this one-of-a-kind event to walk, enjoy a day out with their pets, and support IndyHumane. This year s top individual fundraiser, James Drew, earned the 2017 Top Dog prize, raising over $16,000 on behalf of Mutt Strut. His dogs, Cooper and Tuttle, will be the Top Dogs for Mutt Strut 2017! Packs also competed to be the top fundraising group. Canine Unwind took the number one spot, raising more than $15,000. Total pack fundraising totaled to $58,977. Thank you to all who joined us! We are already hard at work on next year s Mutt Strut. Our animals thank you for your support, and we hope to see you next year! Watch indymuttstrut.org for information about Mutt Strut 2017! 3

YOUR GIFT MATTERS Lifesaving care for animals in need - Your generous support above and beyond the adoption fee makes it possible for us to save more animals lives. Thanks to you, each incoming animal receives a health check, spay/neuter surgery (if needed), a first round of vaccinations, feline immunodeficiency virus testing, feline leukemia testing, canine heartworm screening, deworming, flea treatment, and microchip identification and registration. Without your support, we could not provide this high level of care to each animal who comes through our doors. behavior programs - Your gift allows us to fund a behavior team that provides specialized training and care to our more shy, fearful, or stressed animal residents. You help us provide special enrichment for these wonderful animals who might just need a little extra time and care to truly shine. Medical sponsorships - We take in many animals who have significant medical needs. Your gift allows us to provide these animals with every medical option possible in order to save their lives and then place them up for adoption once well or medically cleared. We rely on medical sponsors like you to help with this extraordinary care, and we could not save the lives of these animals if it weren t for your generosity. low-cost spay/neuter services - The Low-Cost Spay/Neuter & Vaccine Clinic at the IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center is able to provide spay/neuter surgeries and low-cost vaccinations thanks to donor support. Since there are numerous health and behavioral benefits to spaying or neutering pets, we are proud to offer these services. As part of our mission, we discuss these needs with clients and direct them to appropriate resources. Thousands of animals are euthanized every year in Indianapolis due to pet overpopulation. You are helping us fix the problem and provide these important services within our community. Thank you for your continued support of the Humane Society of Indianapolis. You are important and are helping us work toward a more humane Indianapolis! Zane (pictured above) was confiscated for animal cruelty. He was transferred to IndyHumane from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control. Upon arrival, Zane received medical care and a behavior evaluation so our staff could learn more about his unique personality. Our staff immediately found him to be a sensitive but lovely cat. We re able to provide specialized care like this to each animal who enters our facility, and each animal is provided an individualized care and treatment plan to fit his or her specific needs. Zane found his loving home and was adopted in March 2015. Thanks to your support, he found his second chance. 4
