Allandale Veterinary Hospital Allandale Veterinary Hospital is owned and operated by Dr. Patricia Lechten and is an AAHA Accredited Practice. What is AAHA? It stands for American Animal Hospital Association. What does that mean for you? Allandale has undergone stringent requirements to become one of less than 7% of Canadian accredited clinics. AAHA developed the accreditation program to raise the level of care being provided to companion animals. AAHA, along with a group of veterinary experts, developed the AAHA Standards of Accreditation as benchmarks for excellence. They also developed the evaluation system where practices are regularly evaluated by a Practice Consultant to ensure they meet AAHA s standards. Payment for the first month is to be collected the same day as the customer signs the agreement. If the puppy requires 2 sets of vaccines then the client will simply pay for the first plan payment. If the puppy requires 3 sets of vaccines, then the client will pay for that visit along with the first month's payment for the plan that day. Preventive Care Exams regular exams for puppies are important to detect any abnormalities, particularly congenital and genetic abnormalities. This is also a good time to discuss housebreaking, socialization, feeding and environment. Vaccines the core vaccines to be given are distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza, hepatitis, leptospirosis, rabies and bordetella. These are the vaccines that we feel are necessary for a healthy puppy. Vaccines may be tailored to fit the specific health needs of your pet. Intestinal Parasite Exam an examination of your puppy s stool allows for the detection of intestinal parasites which may cause illness in your puppy or be transmitted to human family members. Medications will be dispensed based on parasites found. Pre-anesthetic Bloodwork includes a complete blood count, liver values, kidney values, blood glucose and protein level. Allows for the detection of abnormalities that might affect anesthetic choice or choice of pain medication. Provides a baseline for future comparison. Ovariohysterectomy all surgeries receive IV fluids and are monitored both during and after surgery by registered veterinary technicians. Spaying helps to prevent unwanted pregnancies and to reduce the incidence of mammary cancer. The optimum age for spaying may vary so will be discussed prior to booking the surgery. Microchip a small chip is implanted under the skin between the shoulders allowing for permanent identification of your dog. Microchips allow owners to be located if their dog is found roaming.
