Without her, we would not have Bekah in our lives.
Saturday, December 27, 2014, was a very special day because that was the day that I was born in Chandler, Arizona at the Andresen Cavalier Breeders. It was a cold winter day with the temperature around 58 degrees brrr! Despite the cold weather, the place I was born was quite warm and comfy. I am part of a litter of four puppies. That means that I have three siblings: I have one brother and two sisters. My siblings look a little different from me. They look like our father. Dog dads are called sires. My sire is Bailey Boy III. He is a tri-colored King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. That means his
coat is a combination of three colors black, chestnut (a brownish red), and white.
Dog mothers are called dams. My dam is Marley. She is a Blenheim. That means that her coat is mainly red and white. I look like my mother. My coat is silky, soft, and a little long. The fur on my legs, ears, and tail is light and wispy.
Andresen s is a private breeder of King Charles Cavalier Spaniels. Their job is to raise purebred puppies and then place them up for adoption in loving homes. Purebred puppies have parents that are the same breed as they are. The Andresens shower me, and my siblings, with love, kindness, and patience. They do this even though I am teething. Because my gums hurt, I chew on anything I can find. Sometimes, I chew on shoes, table legs, or cushions. I think I do my fair share of mischief.
As long as I can remember, I love being around my siblings and my breeder family, the Andresens. The Andresen family has a mom, dad, and children. I love to climb up on their laps and cuddle. I am always happy when petted and hugged. I love playing tag with the children and my siblings. We chase each other all over and try to take each other s toys.
One day, I hear Debbie Andresen talking about my adoption. Upon hearing my name, I must say that my ears perk up. I am curious about that word adoption. So I decide to listen carefully and to think about it. I know that their main goal is to breed purebred puppies. That means that both my parents are pure breed King Charles Cavaliers. In fact, most pure breeds are registered with the American Kennel Club. The American Kennel Club is a list (a registry) of all pure breed dogs.
Breeders make sure that the puppies get placed in good homes. Helping me to be potty-trained is another thing they do. Breeders make sure that we know how to get along with other pets and people. This is not a problem for me. I am great with my siblings and the Andresen family loves me. Guess it must be my charming personality. Breeders also work hard on making sure puppies are healthy, strong and in the best condition. Part of being healthy means going to the veterinarian or vet. I hear Debbie speaking to someone about making an appointment with the veterinarian. I wonder what that will be like. I smell a new adventure shaping up.
At eight weeks and six days, Debbie starts gathering things together. Being the curious pup that I am, I watch closely. Darting around the room, I notice that something is about to happen. I run back and forth from the house to the garage, wagging my tail in anticipation. Scooping my siblings and me up, we are placed in Debbie s SUV. She secures us in the cargo space of the SUV and off we go. Thinking about a new place to explore makes me very anxious. In a little while, we pull up in front of a strange building. She loads all of us in our crate and takes us into the building. Once inside, I look around with curiosity. I quickly note there are other pets there. The lady at the counter is friendly and kind.
