EMS breed Codes In all paperwork produced for shows, cats breeds are now described by EMS codes rather than old GCCF breed numbers. This does not mean that you need to enter the EMS code on your entry form. It is as ever recommended that you take the registration details from your registration or transfer certificate if that includes an EMS code, then you should certainly use it. Alternatively, if you can use the GCCF online services to look up the details for your cat, then you can use the EMS code you will find there. But failing either of these, please use the GCCF breed number as on your registration or transfer certificate - do not try to translate it into an EMS code. Whatever you use it may be translated to an EMS code in any acknowledgement of your entry which is sent (and will be translated in the catalogue, judges books and the like). Online Entry Online entry is available links are provided on the club websites, and on the GCCF website. Separate entries must be made for each show, if you want to enter both. Online entry is an alternative to entry in the normal way if you enter online, do not also send in an entry form. Payment may be made either by sending a cheque to the show manager, or by direct BACS transfer: the account number for the transfer will be given you in the last stage of submission of the online entry. Rule Changes You must now clip your cat s claws, and will be rejected at vetting-in if this has not been done (though you will be given the opportunity clip them and present the cat again). A certificate will be awarded to the winner of overall Best in Show (both pedigree and Household Pet) provided this is not a kitten. The certificate will be at the level the cat qualifies for earlier in the show so for example for a cat awarded its third qualifying ordinary certificate, the award will be a Grand. The ceritificate will not be available on the day, but will be sent from the GCCF office once show checking has been performed. GDPR The personal information relating to exhibitors which is given on the entry form will be used only by the show management team (in order to contact you if necessary about the entry) and shared only with the GCCF (for the purposes of show checking). Only exhibitors names will be printed in the show catalogue. 1

EXHIBITORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE RULES GOVERNING THIS SHOW, COPIES OF WHICH ARE OBTAINABLE FROM: The Secretary, GCCF, 5 King s Castle Business Park, The Drove, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 4AG They may also be downloaded from the GCCF Website. These rules will not be repeated in the schedule and exhibitors are reminded that they will be strictly applied, ignorance of these rules will not be accepted as an excuse for their breach. Exhibitors are asked to take note of the following requirements: 1 The basic entry fee allows entry into up to 4 classes. The maximum number of classes which may be entered is 6; for exhibits entered in both shows, the maximum is 3. Consideration of a titled cat for Best of Breed only counts as a class entered. 2 Any correspondence must be accompanied by an s.a.e. or postcard if a reply is required. 3 Entries will be received into the Show Hall for vetting-in from 08.15 until 09.45. 4 Judging will commence at 10.00. The public will be allowed into the Hall at 12.30. 5 White blankets or Vetbed fabric, litter tray, water pot and food dish must be provided. Food dishes MUST be removed by 09.45 prior to judging. DO NOT remove the water pot. 6 No one may remove or interfere with an exhibit except the owner or a Society official. 7 The owner, or their representative, must be within call prior to judging. 8 The Show closes at 17.00 or at the Show Managers discretion. There will be no early removals without the Show Managers approval. 9 The Committees reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate or divide classes where necessary and to appoint other judges as required. Any such alterations will be announced in advance of the show if possible on the Clubs websites and elsewhere. They also reserve the right to refuse entries without giving reasons. 10 Once an entry has been accepted no refund will be made unless the withdrawal is due to the illness of the cat and then up to 50% of the entry fees may be returned on production of a veterinary Certificate to the Show Manager not less than 7 days prior to the Show. 11 In the event of industrial action or other unforeseen circumstances which cause the Show to be cancelled a percentage of the entry fees will be retained to cover the essential expenses. 12 Entries with post dated cheques or any cheques returned Refer to Drawer will be sent back immediately with the entry. EXHIBITORS ARE REMINDED THAT SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED IN THIS FACILITY POLITE NOTICE YOU ARE RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED TO SWITCH OFF ALL MOBILE PHONES WHILST IN THE SHOW HALL 2

REGISTRATION All Cats, Kittens and Neuters are eligible for the Show if registered with the GCCF. To be effective for entry all registrations / transfers must have reached the GCCF office AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE SHOW. Owners are advised to include an s.a.e. with these applications particularly for cats entered at shows. If the exhibitor does not have the registration number available when completing the entry form please write NAF (number applied for) on the form and send the number to the Show Manager as soon as it arrives. No cat born after 19.10.71 with one or both parents, grandparents or great-grandparents unregistered shall be entered in competition. SHOW ENTRY FORM The exhibitor must complete the official entry form and sign the declaration in order for the cat to be shown. The information on the entry form must be identical to that on the registration form. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that the correct description of the exhibit is given and that the correct classes are entered. Exhibitors are asked to read and sign the declaration. If the ownership is joint, either or both owners may sign the form. Neutered Kittens must be entered in the Kitten classes but please denote the sex as MN or FN as appropriate. Note: If any exhibitor needs assistance with the entry form please contact the Show Manager for help. VETERINARY & VACCINATIONS Exhibits will be received at the hall entrance from 08.15 until 09.45 on the morning of the Show. All exhibits must be brought to the Show in suitable cat carriers and must be accompanied by their owners or a nominated representative. Every exhibit will be examined by the Veterinary Surgeons (vets) who are authorised to exclude any exhibit that they consider unfit. NO EXHIBIT MAY BE PENNED BEFORE BEING EXAMINED. Exhibits must have clean ears and coats and must be free from pests. No pregnant or lactating queens, or queens that have kittened within the past 12 weeks may be shown. Exhibits must not be declawed and blind cats will not be shown. Owners are responsible for the cost of any veterinary treatment required by their cat(s) in their absence from the hall. Vaccinations: All exhibits must have a current certificate of vaccination against FIE, FCV and FVR, correctly completed to indicate the identity and address of the owner and the exhibit. The full course or booster in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations must have been completed more than 7 days prior to the Show. The certificate must have been issued by a veterinary practice / hospital and signed by a vet or vet s nurse (under veterinary direction.) Exhibitors are asked to have their certificates to hand for vetting in. Section 4, Rule 4f states that homeopathic vaccinations are not acceptable for the purpose of showing. Cats with an invalid vaccination certificate will be rejected under Section A unless the exhibitor undertakes to provide proof of vaccination, valid for that show, by sending the certificate to the GCCF Office within seven days of the show. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification from the show and the cat s name will be placed on the veterinary rejection list until proof of vaccination is received in the Office. VETERINARY REJECTION / CLEARANCE Unfit exhibits must be removed from the hall and entry fees forfeited. If, in the Duty Vet s opinion it is desirable all other exhibits from the same household, and the owners thereof, shall be barred from attending the show. The Duty Vet s decision is final. Where an exhibit has been rejected or disqualified by the Duty Vet the show manager will obtain the reasons and notify the GCCF accordingly within 48 hours of the show ensuring that a copy of the rejection form is forwarded to the exhibitor concerned. The procedure for veterinary clearance is clearly stated in GCCF Rules however exhibitors whose cats have been rejected should note the following points: i) When sending a Clearance Certificate to the GCCF Veterinary Officer please include your copy of the rejection slip. ii) Do not send certificates by recorded delivery as this can cause delays in receipt. If acknowledgment of receipt is required please enclose a stamped addressed postcard for signature acknowledging receipt. iii) Exhibitors should not attend shows until they have received a letter accepting and confirming clearance from the Veterinary Officer. 3

BENCHING & PRESENTATION OF EXHIBITS Make sure your exhibit is comfortable, warm and relaxed. Exhibitors must provide each exhibit with clean white blankets, without distinctive marking or edging, to lie on. (Vetbed or similar material with green or white backing may be used if preferred) Cellular blankets are not allowed. Each exhibit must have a white food bowl, white water bowl with fresh water and a white litter tray with the exhibit s normal litter. Food containers must be removed before judging commences at 10.00 and can be returned to the pen at 12.00. Water must be left in the pen for the duration of the show. Hot water bottles / heat reflecting material / cool packs are the only heating / cooling devices allowed provided they are in white covers. There must be no distinguishing marks on any of the equipment. Please check your cat s claws before the show and trim them if they are overlong. The use of grooming aids in the show hall other than the use of a clean brush, comb or cloth is prohibited. No grooming substances or powder may be left in the exhibits coats. Exhibitors are advised not to use any shampoo, or other preparation containing colouring matter on their exhibit as this could change the exhibit s appearance and lead to disqualification. The use of any product, such as those containing SKULLCAP or VALERIAN, which change a cat s normal appearance or behaviour is forbidden at GCCF shows and will lead to disqualification under Section 4 Rule 14. No printed or written matter of any kind, other than official notices and award cards may be displayed on competitive pens except with the permission of the show manager. For Sale signs are not permitted. EXHIBITORS Any exhibitor interfering with, or removing, any Exhibit from its pen during the show, except with the consent of the show manager, will forfeit any award that may be due to his, or her, exhibit. No-one may remove any exhibit from its pen except the owner or club official. Exhibitors are forbidden to carry their exhibits around the hall and they must not be held in a way as to disturb other exhibits. Exhibitors are reminded that they, or their representatives, must be within call throughout the period of the show with the exception of the time the hall is cleared for judging. JUDGING & JUDGES Judging will commence at 10.00 and exhibitors will not be allowed access to the hall until 12.30. Judges are empowered to withhold any prize, award or certificate in any class if the exhibits do not, in their opinion, possess sufficient merit. Prizes will be awarded from the Judge s award slip and not from any catalogue or prize card. The Judge s decision is final. Exhibitors are reminded that they may not approach a Judge, nor enter into conversation with the Judges, until their engagement in completed. (GCCF Rules Section 4 Rule 26) In the event of a change of Judge of an Open class occurring after the closing date of the show, and provided the exhibitor informs the show manager prior to judging that a certificate has been previously awarded by the replacement judge, the show manager shall appoint one other judge who shall judge the cat and, if the cat is considered worthy, countersign the certificate which will then count towards Championship status. If the replacement judge at the first show has also been previously booked for a subsequent show after that show s closing date then at that show the judge can be considered a replacement judge for the purpose of requesting a countersignature. Stewards: No persons may steward at all for any judge under whom they or a member of their household are exhibiting in an Open, Grand, Imperial Grand or Assessment class. This rule also applies to any person who is acting as an agent for the owner of a cat entered in a relevant class. This also includes cats not entered into the Open class but to be considered for Best of Breed. Stewards MUST be over 16 years of age. 4

GENERAL GUIDELINES ON ENTERING SHOWS Where possible, always complete your show entry from your GCCF registration document (ie. Registration or Transfer Certificate) for the cat that is to be exhibited, printing the details carefully to avoid any misinterpretation of your handwriting. If you have not received your registration document at time of entry complete the entry form with the details from the pedigree and put RAF (Registration Applied For) or TAF (Transfer Applied For), or both, in the Reg d No. box. It is wise to enclose a stamped addressed acknowledgment postcard with all applications to the GCCF but particularly for cats entered at shows so you can be certain they have been received by the GCCF. Exhibitors are advised to keep a copy of the entry form, when registration or transfer details are received check against the entry form and notify the show manager in writing of any differences and give the registration number if applicable. This may not be in time for printing of the catalogue but the show manager will attach your letter to the entry form this will save unnecessary notification of discrepancies when that show is checked. All catalogue errors are checked against the original entry form and any exhibitors letters are used for reference. The Show Management are permitted to accept corrections, at their own discretion, up to the close of the show (on Show Day); such a change must not be a change of exhibit. If you are entering several cats from your household and the registered owners (exhibitors) differ within that household / family, please enter the cats belonging to each owner on separate entry forms. For cats in joint ownership both owners must sign the entry form. CHAMPION & PREMIER TITLES The title of Champion for Cats and Premier for Neuters shall be granted to exhibits winning three Challenge Certificates at three shows under separate judges. A GCCF Challenge Certificate will be offered for each Cat / Neuter Open Class of recognised breeds with Championship status. CHAMPION OF CHAMPION & PREMIER OF PREMIERS The title of Grand Champion shall be granted to a Cat winning three Grand Challenge Certificates at three shows under separate judges. To compete in a Grand Challenge Class a Cat must have achieved the title of Champion and no higher title by the published closing date of the show. Only one prize, with a Reserve in case of disqualification, will be granted. The title of Grand premier shall be granted to neutered Cats under the same Rules and Conditions as those for Grand Champion. IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPIONS & IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIERS The title of Imperial Grand Champion shall be granted to a Cat awarded five Imperial Grand Certificates by five different judges. To compete in an Imperial Grand Champion Class a cat must be a full Grand Champion and may not already be an Imperial Grand Champion by the published closing date of the show. Only one prize, with a reserve in the case of disqualification, will be awarded.. The title of Imperial Grand Premier shall be granted to neutered Cats under the same Rules and Conditions as for Imperial Grand Champion. 5

DEFINITION OF CLASSES OLYMPIAN CLASS Open to Imperial or Olympian titled cats only IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION: Cats of Full Grand Champion status only IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER: Cats of Full Grand Premier status only CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS: Cats of Full Champion status only. PREMIER OF PREMIERS: Cats of Full Premier status only BREED CLASSES: Untitled cats of the specified breed. (Must be GCCF registered.) CATS: Not less than 9 calendar months on the day of the Show. KITTENS: Not less than 14 weeks and under 9 months of age on the day of the Show. Neuter kittens should be entered in ordinary kitten classes. NEUTERS: Neutered cats, both male and female. Neuters may only be entered in the neuter classes and not compete against entire cats or kittens except in Club classes that are scheduled to include neuters. Where Best in Show is held the best Neuter will be considered against the best Entire Adult and Kitten for overall Best Exhibit. DEBUTANTE: Exhibits that have never been shown. Being shown as a Kitten does not count when the exhibit is shown as a Neuter or Adult and being shown as an Adult does not count when shown as a Neuter. LIMIT: Exhibits that have not won more than 4 First prizes under GCCF Rules. NOVICE: Exhibits that have not won a First prize under GCCF Rules. MAIDEN: Exhibits that have never won a First, Second or Third prize under GCCF Rules. BREEDERS: Exhibits bred by Exhibitor(s). Cats originally registered in the Breeders joint ownership and changed to single ownership of one of the Breeders can be entered in this class but cats originally registered in the Breeder s single ownership and subsequently changed to joint ownership with the breeder should be entered in the Non-Breeders class. NON-BREEDERS: Exhibits not bred by the exhibitor or in joint ownership with the Breeder. ADOLESCENT: Cats between 9 months and 15 months of age on the day of the Show. JUNIOR: Cats between 9 months and 2 years of age on the day of the Show. SENIOR: Cats over the age of 2 years on the day of the Show. ARISTOCRAT: Cats with one or two certificates but are not Full Champions or Premiers. RADIUS: Exhibits living within 35 miles of the Show venue. VISITORS: Exhibits living more than 35 miles from the Show venue. ZODIAC: Date of birth relevant to the sign of the zodiac. Pedigree exhibits only. NOTE: The status of the exhibit for the entering restricted classes (eg Maiden. Limit) shall be the cat s status on the day of entry, except where Section 2, Rule 15e applies. The wins as a kitten do not count when the exhibit is shown as an Adult or Neuter. The wins as an Adult do not count as a Neuter. Merit awards do not count as wins for entering restricted classes. HOUSEHOLD PETS: Non-Pedigree pets are unregistered cats from unregistered or unknown parents, of traditional "moggie" appearance. Pedigree pets are cats of pedigree appearance or with known or unknown full or half pedigree background. They must be entered under their pet name, without prefixes, pedigree titles, or breed numbers. Both non pedigree and pedigree pets compete for certificates which will ultimately lead to the titles of Master, Grand Master, Imperial Grand Master and Olympian Grand Master. Both are judged according to the normal household pet criteria only: presentation, condition, temperament and personality. Cats or kittens OVER 6 MONTHS OF AGE must be neutered. HAPPY FAMILIES: Number of cats in the household. These classes are for household pets only. 6

STATUS OF ERRORS WHAT TO EXPECT Minor Errors These warrant a notification for your reference if the error occurs more than once and it is apparent that the registration details were available at the time of entry or before the date of the show. Continuous repetition of the same error after notification will be referred to the GCCF Board. Examples of minor errors include: a) Spelling errors b) Separation of cats names that should be one word and vice versa c) Administrative / breeder s prefix being omitted from, or partially incorrect name given for an exhibit d) Overseas title preceding the name of an exhibit, sire or dam, etc e) Full breed number known but not given f) Sire and Dam reversed or named incorrectly g) Breeder joint when single and vice versa Incorrect Date of Birth This is usually classed as a minor error unless it affects an entry into classes based on age groups, when it could warrant disqualification of an exhibit from such classes; but if the incorrect date of birth affects the age suitability as a whole, then the exhibit will be disqualified from the show. N.B. AGE LIMITS Kittens not less than 14 weeks and under 9 calendar months on date of show. Adults not less than 9 calendar months on date of show. Incorrect name of Exhibit / Owner / Breeder If registration was obviously available at the time of entry or before the date of the show, disqualification is inevitable. The following discrepancies are those which usually arise: EXHIBIT REGISTERED OWNER / EXHIBITOR BREEDER Totally incorrect name Joint when they should be single and vice versa. Declaration not signed by registered owner(s). NB. the exhibitor(s) must be the registered owner(s) of the cat and not necessarily the person who takes the cat to the show Totally incorrect name or names. NB. The breeder of the cat is always the registered owner of the dam on the date of the cat s birth. Registration / Transfer not received by the GCCF 10 days before the date of the show These entries will be disqualified. Remember the effective date of all registrations and transfers is the first date of valid receipt by the GCCF, and if you enclose your own stamped addressed acknowledgment card with your application form this will be stamped with the GCCF Office date of receipt. Transfer of exhibit from exhibitor to a new owner received by the GCCF more than 10 days before the date of the show Entries such as these will also be disqualified as the exhibitor s entry form becomes invalid. Incorrect or ineligibility of class entry. These will also be disqualified from the class concerned so always check with the Show Manager if in doubt about which class to enter. If a breed number is changed officially it is important that you notify the Show Manager immediately. Exhibits entered in the Grand Class must have gained their title on, or before, the published closing date of the show. Cats registered on the Reference Register Some cats registered on this Register are not eligible to be shown and, therefore, these entries could be disqualified. One exception to this is when a new breed becomes recognised, and then cats of the breed may be shown, even if they are registered on the Reference Register as long as this was the only reason for the Reference registration. Exhibitors may appeal against any disqualification resulting from show checking, giving their reasons. The appeal will be referred to the Executive Committee if considered valid and, if not, a letter of explanation will be sent to the exhibitor(s). The above advice, however, is aimed to keep your show entries trouble free, not to mention the show checking. 7

CORRESPONDENCE All correspondence must be accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope if a reply is required. Any complaint relating to the Show must be forwarded to the Show Manager within 7 days of the Show. To prevent disappointment it is recommended that exhibitors enclose a stamped addressed postcard with their entries to be returned as an acknowledgment of receipt of their entry. SHOW WITHDRAWALS The last date for withdrawal of a cat from a show is the advertised closing date for entries at that show. After this date the cat(s) concerned may not be withdrawn from the catalogue of the show and the 13 day rule about entering two shows within 13 days will apply. Show Managers may be prepared to return part entry fees if the cat is not present at the show but the entry in the catalogue must not be withdrawn. This ruling does not prevent Show Managers from returning entries after the closing date of the show if they are unable to accept them into the show because it is full. ALL WITHDRAWALS MUST BE IN WRITING. ENTRY FEES Entry fees are the same for each show. The entry fee for each exhibit covers penning and up to 4 classes (excluding Welfare). The maximum number of classes for exhibits entered in just one show is 8; for cats entered in both shows, the maximum number is 4 in each show. Consideration for Best of Breed only is not counted as a class. There is one free admission ticket whether for single or joint exhibitors; exhibitors entering more than one show still receive only one free ticket There will be just one catalogue covering both shows. If you want a double pen for an exhibit entered in both shows, you need pay for it only for one of the shows but please write on the entry for the other show that a double pen has been requested You may join either club with your show entry, and enter for the reduced members fee. Entry forms are towards the rear of the schedule please send them to the show manager, and include the membership fee in your payment for the show entry see the entry form.
