All of the good things that have come to me have come through my dog. He turned out to be the best natured dog we've ever known. He was two when our granddaughter was born and she would sit on him, pull his fur, tie up his ears, etc. and he just lay there and let her! He developed liver cancer and we had to have him put to sleep on 25th August 2009 when he was 13. We still miss his now. His legacy was that we were so lost without having him around that we decided to go for another rescue and ended up getting Vince and Freya from GRF just a few weeks later. We're sure that Simba had a paw in that decision! Chris, Chris & Nicole
A dog wags it's tail with it's heart. We visited GRF a dark winter night with no intention of coming home with two Greyhounds. That all changed when we met Booker and his sister Tula. In a sense it was love at first sight/ walk Booker and Tula were our first and he will always will be our Big Boy. Passionate and adventurous, always wanting to check out new things. Despite his size, he was a very gentle soul, more interested in staying by our side than run around, unless there was a prey" in sight. Such an elegant, gentle giant. Loving the sand and puzzled by the sea. A new adventure to be experienced. When it was walking time, it was almost impossible to tie my shoes. I would have Booker on one side and Tula on the other, both licking my face off. The shock when he was so unexpectedly ripped away from us is still edged in our hearts. We think about him and miss him every day and we talk about him often. He brightened our lives and made us smile every single day. His sister still does along with Nubis who would have been Booker s little brother. Booker s full story is on the GRF forum under the thread Eddie and Dusk. He is now one of the stars that brightens the night sky, remembered every time we look up in the night. Greg & Nicolai

He had been the longest ever resident of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home at that time. He'd been so distressed in kennels that he broke his teeth trying to bite his way out. He had a crooked grin as a result. Kyle was a real character - the "toothless wonder" was never far from trouble! Kyle died a happy but wonky old man in March 2013 having lived a long and very happy life on the couch with his brothers and sisters. He left a huge hole in our lives and hearts." Amanda

We spent 8½ wonderful years together before he was taken by a short unexpected illness. A loving member of the family, he is sadly missed and will never be forgotten by all the friends he made. CARA and MIA were auntie and niece they provided the Stewart family with lots of love and affection together with lots of exercise and grooming! Robbie Stewart & Family
A dog naps so much because it loves so hard. We got Bonnie (8) in May 2009 and the 2 of them became best buddies and partners in crime. Bonnie was more mischievous and eating everything. They chased each other around the garden and then cozied up together for a kip. They did everything together, holidays, camping, walks, vets, cat chasing. When Malbay passed over the rainbow bridge suddenly in March 2012, we had a wee lost soul on our hands. Until she passed over in September this year Bonnie would still walk up the garden last thing at night and stand looking, waiting for her best friend. Both hounds lit up our lives, and are sorely missed. We're sure that they're over the rainbow bridge running and sleeping, happy together. Both were taken far too young. Love Roy & Jill

They were complete opposites. Kerry was a real lady whereas Jake was a real cuddle monster. Our big daft dug! We got Kerry first when she was 4 and we still had our old collie at the time who had been having fits. When in the garden Kerry came out for us. We followed her inside and Flynn our collie was just coming out of a fit. She went over to his basket and used her nose to gently try to help him up. That was a lump in the throat moment we will always remember Kerry and Jake were much loved and are sadly missed. We were honoured of having them both in our lives. Elaine and Callum.

He was chosen for us by Celia and Jimmy and fitted into the family (and other dogs) beautifully... Clyde was full of fun especially loving the kids cuddly toys and chewing Sky remote controls. Unfortunately we lost Clyde On 31st October 2013 after a sudden illness and he is sadly missed. Lynne & Family

My husband was devastated, Logan is greatly missed. Jennifer This was our lovely rescue boy Casey. He came to us from a cocker spaniel rescue in Glenrothes age 5. He was a stubborn, troublesome but very lovable little boy. This little dog turned our world upside down and was definitely the boss. In 2010 he was joined by our lovely Greyhound Lass. Sadly In August 2012 Casey lost his battle against cancer. Casey will never ever be forgotten and we were honoured to have him in our family. Jean
