BORDER CROSSING Government regulations require that to be brought into Canada, a dog must have a current Rabies Certificate dated at least 30 days prior to entry. EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (Foreign Born/Foreign Owned Dog) For the purpose of entering CKC events to obtain Championship status and Obedience Titles and Degrees, individual registration is no longer required for foreign born, foreign owned dogs. Foreign exhibitors may apply for an ERN (Event Registration Number). This number MUST be applied for within 30 days of obtaining points, scores or awards to avoid cancellation. Exhibitors may submit a photocopy of the dog s foreign Registration Certificate and the appropriate fee ($58.50 Canadian Funds) along with a letter of request to the CKC. CLASSES 10 day period preceding the trial, must reach the trial secretary on or before the date of the trial. The entry fee, service charge and listing fee will be refunded. Detailed Judging Schedules will be sent to entrants after the closing date. Every effort will be made to avoid conflicts between the trials and to accommodate entrants from the Mainland and Up Island. DISCIPLINE It shall be the duty and obligation of the trial-giving club to see that a judge, club official, ring steward, volunteer or competitor at a trial held under the CKC ObedienceTrial Rules and Regulations, is not subject to indignities of any kind. The Obedience Trial Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred. RULES AND REGULATIONS It is the responsibility of each competitor to be familiar with and abide by the Canadian Kennel Club Obedience Trial Rules and Regulations effective January 1, 2012 and Rally Obedience Rules and Regulations effective January 1, 2011. FEMALES IN SEASON When a bitch comes into season after entry of the bitch has been submitted to the trial secretary, a veterinarian s certificate, certifying that the bitch was in season within the
RULES GOVERNING ALL TRIALS 1. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and on leash at all times within the building with the exception of the obedience ring. No dogs will be allowed inside the RCMP Building during the trials unless officially entered in the trials with the exception of Certified Assistance Dogs. 2. Collars other than those specified in these rules are not allowed within the venue. Violation of this rule may result in removal of the dog from further competition at the trial. 3. The North Saanich Dog Obedience Training Club will use all reasonable care to ensure the safety of the dogs exhibited but will not be responsible for or assume any liability for loss or injury to any dog or exhibitor. If for any reason beyond the control of the Club it is impossible to open or complete the trials no refund of entry fees will be made. 4. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. It is the responsibility of each handler to be ready with his dog at ringside when required, without waiting to be called. 5. Any dog entered and received at an obedience trial must compete in all exercises of all classes in which it is entered, unless excused by the judge, official veterinarian, superintendent, or the trial chair. 6. Eligibility to enter specific Obedience and Rally Obedience classes is detailed in the Obedience Trial Rules and Regulations and the Rally Obedience Trial Rules and Regulations. Entrants should review these requirements before entering the trials to ensure they are entered in the correct class. NOSA will not be held responsible for incorrect entries. 7. Every dog entered in an approved obedience trial must be one of the following: registered with the CKC; have an Event Registration or Performance Event number; eligible for registration with the CKC; or, have a Miscellaneous Certification number if it belongs to a CKC listed breed 8. Please keep the the building and grounds clean. Please pick up after your dog - an exercise area and cleanup materials will be provided. 9. With the exception of HIT and HIC trophies exhibitors must return the enclosed "Trophy Eligibility" form with their entry form to signify the trophies for which they wish to compete. The exhibitor or a representative must be present when prizes are awarded NOSA will not take responsibility to deliver trophies. All awards (except High in Class) will be given out at the end of the trials. All prizes will be awarded for qualifying scores only. ENTRY FEES CLASS FEES: OBEDIENCE & RALLY: $28.00 for the first class for each dog entered in each trial. $100.00 for same dog in same class in all four trials $18.00 for each additional class for the same dog in same trial. $ 5.00 for Exhibition only. LISTING FEES: $ 9.41 (HST incl.) for each trial for dogs eligible for but not possessing individual registration with the Canadian Kennel Club. The entry of a dog at a trial must be accompanied by the entry fee. Conditional entries or entries accompanied by post-dated cheques will not be accepted. The club must reject an incomplete entry form and promptly return it to whoever submitted it, be it the owner, lessee or authorized agent. Tendering of a dishonoured cheque in payment of entry fees shall be considered non-payment and is an offence punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards by the Canadian Kennel Club. PAYMENT OF FEES Please make your cheque or money order payable to: NORTH SAANICH DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING CLUB or NOSA NON-MEMBER PARTICIPATION FEE A non member participation fee will be charged to a resident of Canada who is a non-member of the CKC. The non member participation fee is paid in any year a title is earned and covers all titles and dogs owned by that individual. In order for the title to be awarded, the non member will have a choice to either become a CKC member or pay the non member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will result in the title being withheld and the dog cannot be moved up to the next level. The fee applies only to dogs wholly owned by non-member residents of Canada and is not applicable to CKC members.the fee is $57.60 plus HST.
