WOMBLETON / FADMOOR SHEEP SALES 2016 Dear Vendor/Purchaser, As we have seen this year the price of fat lambs is significantly better than last year, with lambs through Malton consistently 12 to 15 better than last year. Buyers were therefore coming to the breeding and store lamb sales with a little more confidence, but although we saw a better trade for store lambs throughout the sales it would seem the buyers of breeding sheep still acted with some caution and a common sense approach in buying their replacements. As usual all stock was well presented at our sales and with a good catalogue and turnout of buyers we were very pleased with the results of all three sales. We think the sheep look their best in the open pens and through the sale rings. The quality of stock was as good as ever at all three sales and the judges this year, Mr John Jackson of Hartoft, Mr Will Frank of Pickering, Mr Chris Dale of Skirpenbeck, Mr Ken Shields of Hexham, and Mr Dave Lee of Thirsk with the support of the stewards from the North York Moors Quality Sheep Association all did a terrific job. The late sale at Wombleton saw a record number of 6450 sheep sold through the sale rings and we hope you agree the drovers, stewards and office staff on the day did an excellent job to keep all sale rings running smoothly. We are always thankful of help from people who don t always get rewarded on the day and we will be always pleased to take on additional staff at the sale next year. Finally we would like to thank you all for attending the sale as either a purchaser or vendor and a particular thanks to all our sponsors and trade stands who help make the sales a tremendous success. If you have any comments or wish to discuss any matter please do not hesitate to give us a call.
