DAIRY CATTLE (14) A fabulous turnout in terms of quality today for the Christmas Show and Sale, Thank you to all the Vendors and buyers for their support. A very busy ringside very keen to purchase an outstanding show of cattle on a day where twice the number could easily have been sold. A big thank you to World Wide Sires for their sponsorship of yet another successful Bryan Challenor Cup. Ably Judged by Mr James Meddins of Churchstoke the sale was a flyer from start to finish, Standing Champion was arguably the best Dairy Animal seen the market throughout 2018, (do not forget we had the perfection collection and sold fresh Milkers to 17000gns in April!!) This was the 2 nd Calved Cow Winsbury Camelot Redsky, Sired by World Wide Sires Larcrest Camelot calved 6 th December giving 39kgs after some intensive bidding she sold for 2280 to Richard Bowdler Ltd. 2 nd Place Cow was a 3 rd Calver from J Allsop & Sons of Church Strettons Enchmarsh Herd, This quality Cow stood 2 nd in the show and went on the sell for 2020 to Oakley Farming Ltd, The same Buyer secured the 1 st place Heifer and Reserve Champion, again from J Allsop & Son, this was Enchmarsh Topsy Unique she was sold giving 40kg for 2350. The 2 nd Prize Heifer Winsbury Merry Pam from Winsbury Livestock goes to the same home for 2120. The sale commence with a Limousin Bull from N Pugh of Llanidloes which achieved 2100 to go to his new home in Waters Upton. A well grown 7 month old Blue Bull from A Gwilliam of Gorsty Bank straight off the Cow from the field this moring sold for 735, while a pen of 3 13mo Blue Heifers from D Evans of Boycott sold for 520. The consignment of the day came from Mr Richard Bowdler Ltd, with 37 3-4mo British Blue x Steers and Heifers. These sold like the spring with steers at 460 (1), 450 (3) & 442 (4) while the Heifers sold to 405 (2), 395 (5), 380(4). We had our first instalment of Inlamb Ewes sold to a decent trade, topping at 114 for some aged Texel Ewes around 175% with FM Dorset Ewes to 103.
