PRESIDENT REPORT Donna asked for volunteers to be the Chairman of the Nominating Committee for next year s board. There were no volunteers. Donna reported that the club will have 31 dogs featured in the next issue of the GRN. The deadline for the pictures is August 15, 2008. Since the DFWMGRC has been incorporated, the club had to order new check with Inc. after the name of the club. CORRESPONDING SECRETARY Patti Caldwell reported on the Texas Combined Specialty Meeting. She received a packet of information. The photographers will be Luke Allen and Sosa. The Association is trying to find a hotel for the Judges that does not accept dogs. The club has been contacted by Tinker Kennel Club asking us if we would be interested in putting on a 2 nd Specialty in Oklahoma City next summer at Cox Convention Center. Currently we have no space for Agility at our Specialty in March. Patti asked if it is possible to have a Rally. The membership applications were read for Carol Sandusky (3 rd meeting) and Bob Raymond (3 rd meeting). Carol and Bob left the room for a vote. Both Carol and Bob were voted in by a show of hands. Amber (2 nd meeting) and Pam Richcreek (2 nd meeting) applications were read. Anthony Overstreet (3 rd meeting) came in late. The Agility Trial is all breed. The club will have a booth including our banner at the Pet Responsibility Day. The club received printed materials from the GRCA and AKC to hand out. The club has placed a full page ad for the Nationals. The cost was $75.00. Our speaker, Robert Wiggs, DVM, was running late, and he arrived at 7:30p and left at 8:30p. TREASURER REPORT continued Linda Miller arrived while the veterinarian (canine dentist) was speaking. Linda Miller reported on the Sportsman Insurance for the club. She has asked for quotes from other companies, but could not get insurance elsewhere because we use guns at our hunt tests. Sportsman is changing underwriters, and they will get back to us. NEW BUSINESS Rita Robbins asked about the entry fee for Agility, and Donna Todd said that it would be $17.00. Donna asked if the members would like to continue to have speakers, and if so, what are some of the subjects/topics we would like to include. Anna Curry asked if the club would like to sell sunscreens as a fund raiser. Janet Fric asked that all members sign up to receive the club s newsletter via e-mail to save the club money on postage. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45p. DFWMGRC MINUTES OF GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING @Dickies BarBQue Arlington, TX October 21, 2008 12 Board members and members were present. Fifteen members are required for a quorum, therefore a quorum was not established. Donna Todd called the meeting to order at 7:00p. The reading of the minutes were waived. COMMITTEE REPORTS March 2009 Specialty Dick Caldwell reported on the March Speciality. He said that the application has been approved, and the judges are in place. The club will have an eye clinic on Saturday, and a heart clinic on Sunday. Sherri Farmer is in charge of the ads. The club will not raise entry fees. The draft of the Premium is due in 10 days. 5

Linda Miller suggested a general trophy fund, and Sherri Farmer said that all the money goes in a general fund, and everyone likes to have their name on a particular trophy. Cathy Meddaugh is going to upgrade the rosettes again this year. The stain glass window will be given for BOB. Everyone is asked to start thinking about/donating raffle items. Donna Todd would like to give raffle tickets to volunteers to encourage members to volunteer. Agility Trial The Agility Trial will be August 15 & 16, 2009. Sherri Farmer reported that the club has the room reserved and the judges under contract. We have received AKC approval. She requested a check in the amount of $1,750 from Linda Miller. DFWMGRC BOARD MEETING @ Dickie s BarBQue Arlington, TX October 21, 2008 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Donna Todd President Kathy Felix Vice President Linda Miller Treasurer JJ Allen Recording Secretary David Brown Member-at-Large Absent: Patti Caldwell Corresponding Secretary John Knapp Member-at-Large President The budget for the March 2009 Speciality will be sent via e-mail. The club will need a lot of volunteers for the Speciality and for the clinics. Donna Todd would like to have some incentives to encourage people to volunteer, and to ask for volunteers and put the incentives in the newsletter. Donna will ask Lynda Williams if she will be responsible for the trophies at the end of the year. They must be cleaned up and engraved and set up at the dinner. Donna will ask Dawn to be responsible 6 for the engraver.

When the trophy is awarded, Donna wants to talk about the dog and what the dog had to do to get the trophy. Terri Thornton broke the trophy for stud dog, and has purchased a new one for the club. The nominations for the Good Sportsmanship Award are due. The Board would like to use the stain glass to its best benefit for the club. The Board agreed that it would be the most productive if it is visible at shows where people can actually see it and purchase a ticket(s) for it there. Subject: When I am Old... When I am Old... I shall wear Turquoise and soft gray sweatshirts... and a bandana over my silver hair... and I shall spend my Social Security Checks on Sweet Wine and My Dogs... and sit in my house on my well-worn chair and listen to my dog's breathing. I will sneak out in the middle of a warm summer night and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow... and when people come to call, I will smile and nod as I show them my dogs... and talk of them and about them... The Ones so Beloved of the Past and the Ones so Beloved of Today... I still will work hard cleaning after them and mopping and feeding them and whispering their names in a soft, loving way I will wear the gleaming sweat on my throat, like a jewel and I will be an embarrassment to all... and my family... who have not yet found the peace in being free to have dogs as your Best Friends... These friends who always wait, at any hour, for your footfall... and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep, to greet you as if you are a God. With warm eyes full of adoring love and hope that you will stay and their big, strong necks... and kiss their dear sweet heads... and whisper to their very special company... I look in the Mirror... and see I am getting old... this is the kind of woman I am... and have always been. Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me, accept me for who I am, my dogs appreciate my presence in their lives... when I am old this will be important to me... you will understand when you are old... and if you have dogs to love too.
