October 2018 Page 2 MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES- September 6th, 2018 Meeting called to order Secretaries Report: Membership present approved the August meeting minutes as published in the club s newsletter. August board meeting minutes were read. Mail was read. Treasurers Report: Marie gave the financial report for August. Obedience: Deb Zierler said our training classes could really use more helpers. Helpers are so important to keep our classes running smoothly, if you think you might be interested please talk with a trainer. Also, we could use some one that can sew. We have for our classes bait bags (to put treats in while training your dog/s) and the person that has done this for our classes will no longer be doing them. Deb had a sample for anyone that would be interested. Presidents Report: Wayne thanked all that helped at our Agility Trial this past month in Oshkosh. Can t forget the members that got up early to come out on Labor Day morning in Menasha to meet up with and talk to Lauren Kalil from WLUK Good Day Wisconsin morning segment. Thank you!! You represented WDC very well. The turn out for those walking in the parade was very nice, Thank you all!! Membership: Prospective new members introduced themselves and they were welcomed by the membership present. Thank you Louise for the assist. 50/50 Raffle: Barb Hoffman took charge of our raffle and said she would be around selling tickets for it and shortly after the meeting is over we will have the drawing for our next winner. Parades: Penney Garbe thanked all the members that came and walked in the Labor Day Parade. She also mentioned that our next parade coming up will be the Christmas Parade that is held in Appleton on Tuesday November 20. The theme for this year s parade is Home for the Holidays She will pass on more information as she receives it. Remember you can earn three hours credit for taking the time and walking in the parade. Agility Run-throughs: Marie said the run-throughs will be the following Friday night, September 14 and not tomorrow night. Check in starts at 6 pm with the runs starting at 6:30 pm. Conformation: Conformation: Anne Schmidt said that the classes will be starting this next week. She said that she would work with all levels for the first 45 minutes and then work individually with new handlers for the last 15 minutes of class. If you have any questions just contact her and she will answer them. (920) 731-1080 Obedience/Rally Trials: Jolene Johnson said that our club s trials are coming up on October 13 & 14 here at the club. Kitchen help is needed on Sunday and also for set-up on Friday and taking down on Sunday after the trials are over. Ring Stewards-Obedience/Rally Trials: Carol Mason said she is looking for people wanting to ring steward. It can be a great way to learn more about this sport. On Sunday October 7 th we are having a training session here at the club for those that want to learn or refresh what you know. Come join us at 11 am. CGC (Canine Good Citizen): Jolene said the following weekend, Saturday October 20 we will be having testing for CGC here at the club. Help will be needed and you can earn hours. She passed around a clip board for members to sign-up to help. Also if you would like to have your own dog tested that wouldn t be a problem either. Fun Match: Margie Hohman said our fun match is coming up soon, Oct 6 th here at the club. Obedience/Rally will be in the AM with conformation in the PM. We are planning on having a raffle and if you have items to donate please put them in the office and mark for the fun match. Margie also sent around a signup sheet.

October 2018 Page 3 Membership Meeting Minutes Continued: Pet Expo Breed Booth: Margie also said that they will be having a meet the breed booth at the Pet Expo held at the Oshkosh Fairgrounds and if you would like to participate to contact Lynn Busse as she is in charge of it and is also a club member. This would be a fun way to show off your breed and answer any questions from the public. It is also the same day as our fun match. Hospitality (club meetings): Mary Ann Herwig mentioned that a fun and easy way to earn some hours is to bring snacks for our club meetings to enjoy after the meeting. You can earn two hours. Program (club meetings): Mary Ann also reported that coming up at our November meeting we have Robert Smead that will be giving a talk on falconry. Falconry can be defined as the taking of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by means of a trained bird of prey. Canine CPR and First Aid: Len Hoehne said that coming up on Saturday November 3 from 8 until noon he will be offering this class again. You will learn how to keep your dog alive until you can get them to a vet. Cost for members is $35 and nonmembers is $45 so get signed up now. Old Business: Wayne said that the club has purchased a new copier from Modern Business Machines. We bought the copier for about half the price of what a new one would cost so we couldn t pass this deal up and it had to be done before the end of September. New Business: We have new DOT s for the club. They are Kayla Baudhuin, Shannon Tischer and Gayle Kukulka. We need to welcome them and approve them as our new co-chairs. Motion: Approve Kayla Baudhuin, Shannon Tischer and Gayle Kukulka as our new DOT s cochairs. Approved Does the membership want more trees in the back yard or leave as it is knowing we are losing some of our older trees. One member from the floor brought up we could put up a pergolas if all we were interested in is more shade and it would look nice. Something to think about. Cry and brag was conducted Motion made and approved to adjourn Respectfully submitted Gail VanDenLangenberg WDC Secretary Pet Expo: Len also mentioned the Pet Expo in Oshkosh on October 6 th. WDC does have a booth there so come on out and help or just check things out. It only costs $5 to get in the door. K-9 Kloset: Kayla Baudhuin said she is stepping down as chair so this committee will need a new chair!!! Talk with either her or Gail VanDenLangenberg if interested. Agility Trials: Nancy Zolkowski said that coming up on December 1 & 2 WDC will be having another agility trial and it will be held at the Oshkosh Kennel Club. More information coming as we get closer to the date. Neenah-Menasha Labor Day Parade
