President s Blog by Janelle Naughton Welcome to our Spring Edition of Newshound. The weather is warming up we can shake off the last of the cold, enjoying the beautiful mornings at training each Sunday. To all new members, I applaud you for choosing to train you dog and continuing to foster the bond you have already established. I hope you and your dog have a long and happy association with our club. We the Committee and Instructors are here to help you in every step of your training journey. Congratulations to all those returning members in continuing your training journey with your dog/s. The continued development of a strong training relationship between you and your dog can only lead to a closer bond and responsible well behaved dog. For those of who don t know me I have been involved with the Queanbeyan Dog Club as a member, Instructor and Committee member for a few years now. For the last few terms I ve instructed Advanced level in the Recreation area behind the containers. My passion for dogs and their training has led me to explore different types of dog sports. I encourage all of you to give Rally O a go. It is a great newer dog sport, very ably led by Elle MacKay. I look forward to working closely with the current committee, who are tireless in their dedication and enthusiasm, in making our dog club the best we can be. I d like to thank our outgoing Committee with a special mention for our previous President Kathy Griffiths. Kathy has been a tireless worker for the Queanbeyan Dog Club for many years. Her dedicated service to the club is very much appreciated. A personal thank you for every one of our Instructors and volunteers who graciously give their time week after week, term after term: without you, we can t run classes and don t have a club! We welcome any member who d like to volunteer to help out with the many jobs that are required. We require volunteers to maintain our grounds and do everything for the smooth running of every class, assessment day, trials and equipment. Please don t be shy any Committee member or Instructor will be only to be pleased to take your details. Unfortunately I was unable to attend last Term s Assessment Day due to undertaking further study in Dog Training. Thank you Vanessa, our Vice President who very ably stepped in for me on the day. A very big thank you to all who volunteered their time and considerable talents, in all the preparations and on the day tasks, ensuring Term 3 Assessment Day was the success it was. Congratulations to every competitor and ribbon winner. Enjoy Term 4. Practise what you have been taught by your Instructor as often as you can. Make your training with your dog fun and short! Short training sessions often will equal success. Check out our website for next week s syllabus and if the weather will cause that week s classes to be cancelled. I look forward to meeting you all.
