V I Z S L A C L U B O F T H E C A R O L I N A S VCC NEWS Issue 78 Apr-May 2015 President s Message Hello All! I am just catching my breath from the Vizsla Nationals in Huron, Ohio. It was a very busy week. It was colder and the plants, flowers and trees were about a month behind us so there was a lot of pollen in the air. The site is beautiful though and there were a lot of our club members there. The VCC members fared well with placements and wins. That s saying a lot with such a huge entry too. Look elsewhere in the newsletter for a list of placements by members dogs. I hope that we can all join together for our annual picnic/meeting on June 6, 2015 in Fletcher, NC at the Asheville Kennel Club show. Hoping for good weather and a nice entry. See you soon! Beth Kirven President

Annual Party at Asheville KC Show June 6, 2015 Please join us for the 16th annual picnic this weekend on Saturday, June 6. Vizslas show at 9:00 am promptly and will be finished by 10:00. We will set up food at 11:00, and start the meeting at 11:30. That will give everyone time to take win pictures, settle dogs, and find the meeting location. The club will provide cold cuts, cheeses, condiments, breads, and plastic/paper products/utensils. Bottled water will also be provided. Please bring a side or appetizer to share, and a drink of your choice for you and your family. You may want to bring folding chairs, and an exercise pen, crate or stake out for your dogs, as well as water and a dish. Shade is scarce and it will be hot. Please help up set up if you are free. Location will be announced at ringside. Just ask around and someone will tell you how to find the meeting/picnic spot. Page 3

2015 VCC Election The VCC operating year begins on September 1st, and goes through August 31st. At the annual meeting, held in August, officers and directors for the ensuing year will be elected by secret ballot, from among those nominated in accordance with the bylaws of the club. They will take office immediately upon the conclusion of the election. Date/place/time for the 2015 annual meeting is still to be determined. The Nominating Committee, comprised of Penny Porter, chair, Scott Wofford, and Jennifer Austin, has put together a slate that has been approved by the Board of Directors. The slate proposed for election consists of: President: Thecla Tyner Secretary: Theresa Robards Vice-President: Paula Murphy 2-yr Director: Beth Kirven 2-yr Director: Abbie Hanson Offices normally up for re-election in 2015 would be President, Secretary, and two Directors. Since the current Vice-President (Theresa) decided to run for Secretary, that slot will also require filling. Karen Beckwith will move from her 2-yr. Director position to the 1-yr slot. Treasurer comes up for election in 2016. Page 4
